I imagine some scenario where bob calls in a sickie to play GT7 only to discover it wont play till the next day. Sickie was wasted!

GT7 updates always happens on a Thursday at a specific 2hour window .

"Installable at" doesnt make a difference as there also is server maintenance.
But actually it is a benefit, because downloading speeds have been distributed among all players who have logged in at different times yesterday instead of having them download all at the same time.

The only thing it does is that it allows people to pre load the update. Especially helpful if you have a slower connection.
It does not prevent you from doing anything. The game can be played just fine before the actual installation time is reached.

If you are calling in sick just to play a game, then you are the problem, not the game.

Everyone gets the update made available at the same time: 0600 UTC on November 21.

All that this feature added was the ability to download 32GB of data (ten times the usual amount) up to 24hr in advance to avoid everyone trying to do it all at the same time at 0600 UTC on November 21.

If Bob had a PS5, it was to his advantage as PS4 players had to wait until 0600 UTC on November 21 to download their 2GB update, while it was already on the PS5 consoles.

Not seeing the "some bogus" in here.
