Intermediate Tires vs. Rain Tires

I realize this is an old thread, but in case anyone does a search like I did, I'd like to confirm that racing hard tires, (slicks!?!) are yielding better lap times around Suzuka with 100% rain icon, when compared to full fledged rain tires.

I am driving the Redbull X2010, and got all the updates before they killed online functionality for this game. Well done PD. The real racing simulator gives me better lap times in the wet with slicks than with rain tires.

I just switched to intermediates now to see how they do.

*edit*

And they seem to be about the same performance as the hard slicks. Well, in terms of lap times, I'm getting pretty close, but I am not a consistent driver. I just switched back to racing hard tires after a stint on intermediates and the hard slicks "feel" grippier. Take that as you will.

I have run through GT5 about 4 or maybe 5 times. Race soft are the best tire in the rain and they don't wear much at all until the track really dries out. If you must use rain tires, Intermediates are faster than Full Wets anytime, anywhere, but race softs are actually faster.
Cheers, Pete
