I'm looking to jailbreak my iPhone 4s. I have tried greenpoisi0n, but it wont open on my mac. My friend said redsn0w was out with the 4s jailbreak, but i couldn't find it. It would help if you could supply me with a link for an untethered jailbreak or give my tips. :gtpflag:

I hope you're not discussing illegal hacks on this site. It could get you in a lot of trouble should the staff deem it against the rules.

Just a heads up.

For stuff about iPhones and putting certain things on then try instructables.com they have a lot of good tech advice and things.

I doubt a jailbreak for the 4S is already out yet (isn't it fairly new?). Got my aunt's 3GS for Christmas and we got it jailbroken since it was locked into AT&T and I live in New Zealand. Maybe take it to a mobile phone repair place, I did with my 3GS and I reckon its a lot more safe (having someone who's done it numerous times compared to me? Easily worth $30).

My step mother has her 4 cracked but this is China, they do all kinds of stuff here and it wasn't the 4S, either.

Guys, just be careful of what you post here. I got an infraction trying to prove a point in the SOPA thread. Just giving y'all a heads up.

As previously stated, it's perfectly legal to jailbreak your iphone. It has been this way for sometime and there are plenty of perfectly legitimate reasons to do so which are not related to illegal activities. I'm not going to go into the reasons for your infraction in public as it has already been discussed in private, suffice to say there is a big difference between proving a point and discussing illegal activities.

Yea i got it yesterday by booting my mac into the windows side and downloading the windows version of Absinthe. Then this morning my mom took it away.:grumpy:

What a "Scumbag" mom you have :P

Anyone want to make a meme pi- I'll make one, though the context is a little off.

I looked this time and found no thred like this one, mods, you can not lock this because since 2010 the jailbreaking of iDivices has been made leagal :sly.

In this thread you can talk about jailbreaking iDivices, what apps to get in cydia, whats your fav cydia app, convince other people to join in the coolness 👍, ask questions and get answers, and stuff like that, if it is your first post in this thread post what kind of jailbroken divice you have and (optional) what program you used to jailbreak your iDivice

Ipod Touch 4th gen proudly jailbroken using the one and only Redsn0w

My current fav app from cydia is iFile because it comes in handy way too many times.

My iOS is 5.0.1

I don't believe you are allowed to discuss Jailbreaking at GTP. Just a heads up.

Edit: Telling the moderators they "can not" do something isn't usually a good idea.

And I think you'll find it's spelled "Devices"

Very sorry mods, but yes you can since it is not illegal anymore, if this was 2009 then I would not be able to

No, I dont think you get it. Whether it's illegal or not, You can't discuss jailbreaking here. I just saw a thread yesterday that was closed for the same reason.

I think it's covered in the AUP with this:

AUP
You will not use these forums for the purposes of sharing or distributing viruses, licenses, registration information, software keys, pirated commercial multimedia files, “cracks”, or other information designed to do harm to or allow unlawful access to any computer software or systems.

I reported it, nothing has been done. So not sure...

That was for the PS3 platform, which is still in a legal grey zone though I don't see it really holding up in court due to the case regarding the iPhone and jailbreaking. But more relevant, Jordan doesn't want that discussed on the site where as iPhone jailbreaking is okay.

Technically speaking, Jailbreaking was originally in a grey zone, due to Apple's claims that is violated the DMCA claims on circumventing copy protection. A few years ago, it was declared fully in the clear though, at least in the US, by the courts putting in on the clear exempt list for the DMCA.

Apple was mostly working to defend the claim that changing the bootloader to install differing versions of the operating system was similar to building derivative works without permission or license. Judges rolled that while it was okay to have a system in place to prevent the user from side loading new software, it was not illegal for users to circumvent this.
