Our team won the Daytona 24!

Lots of rain thru the night. Came in 2 rounds. Second round it rained for an hour before it was actually wet to the point to need rain tires. We were in the 3rd timeslot.

How many drivers were in your team and what were your stints like? I’m super interested in trying this one day.

We had 5 drivers on the team. We were operating on double stints anytime someone got in the car with 1 triple stints by 3 of us to fill out the schedule. I also jumped in the car to sub for one of our drivers who wasn’t confident in their wet weather driving. Total I did 3 double stints and a triple for a total of 255 laps. I did by quite a margin the most laps out of anyone on the team, we had 2 guys who did less than half of that.
Now last year we ran with 3 drivers, and every time someone got in the car, they did a triple stints.

Edit: Also should note, at all times, we had at minimum, 1 driver acting as a spotter to relay information to the driver like rival lap times and weather conditions. Also they were prepared and ready to jump in the car at any moment in the event the current driver had an equipment failure or disconnect.
We actually had one guy jump in, do one lap and then pit after his force feedback didn’t kick in. So the driver who was scheduled to run next, and had just started spotting took over.

Could only manage 7th in the 2nd split of the final time slot on my end. LMP2 side swiped us as we came out of the pit lane with just 25 minutes to go. We were running 4th at the time but I suppose it wasn't meant to be after a wild ride throughout the 24 that had us running near last in GT3 after hour 2.

We don't yet know the tolerance levels for cutting a driver from the race with this new system for connection issues. Hopefully it is suitably strict.
 


A video for those who didn’t read the latest dev blog. I’ll summarise below for the lazy:

  • Brand new ARCA cars with a new physics model, credits will be issued to players who have recently purchased the outgoing car
  • Updated art and physics for the Legends 34c
  • The first of a 2 phase update to the LMP2 and GTP class cars will be released in S2 2025. Phase 1 focuses on a reconstruction of the tyre model. Phase 2 will fix the hybrid system and bring it in line with the real life counterpart
  • Portland Internternational Raceway will make its iRacing debut
  • Further art updates for existing tracks will release beginning S2, with an initial focus on ovals
  • 3D curbing will be added to Jerez, Aragon, Sandown, VIR, Winton, Rudskogen, and Hockenheim. Barcelona and Road America may or may not be ready for S2
  • Debris refresh, including local debris cautions
  • The aforementioned Connection Flag system to be released as part of S2
  • The new and improved lighting model will debut in S2
  • A new Official Series page for the main menu UI. The new sim UI, however, will not be ready for release
Beyond Season 2, we should expect the following:

  • The new graphics engine is still chugging along. Recent advancements include support passes defined by shaders, improved culling, and support for array, cube, and 3D textures
  • Gen 4 NASCAR Cup cars are close to completion
  • Indycar and NASCAR Cup cars to receive pre-v10 tyre model, aero updates and associated advancements
  • Another Ferrari is in the works
  • Scanning of Adelaide was successful. Miami International Autodrome is progressing well
  • Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez has been signed
