Why Omar? He was the Taliban leader. If we needed anyone, we needed Osama bin Smoking. In fact, Omar wouldn't have known too much about al~Qaeda's structure; he wouldn't have been much of a help.

Well who the hell fires guns into the air when there's US warplanes planes flying over? What crazies!

Four-thousand civilian lives? No way! Show me a credible report saying it was four-thousand lives. Also, I personally thing 'smart warfare' is an oxymoron at the present time, though with technology developing maybe it won't be in the future.

Sorry - wrong guy. There's a lunatic Egyptian doctor in there who orchestrates a lot of Al Qaeda stuff, he's linked with Hezbollah. He was involved in the kidnap and murder of William Buckley in Lebanon some years ago. Buggered if I can remember his name.

I agree on the guns - pretty heavy response sending in one of those aerial gunships though.

Now - here's the thing. The US govt has conveniently made little comment on Afghan losses to avoid provoking adverse overseas comment, and given the lack of other information sources on the ground it's impossible to get accurate reports. Ah, the joy of misinformation.

Enter these words 'afghanistan civilian losses red cross' into Google, and start reading.

Buggered, indeed - I can't remember his name at all, though I may have heard the story.

I think that if the US is investigated (by the UN) for their conduct in firing on this wedding, they will have an airtight case - who fires guns into the air!? :D The thing is that once AA guns are spotted, US troops automatically assume (and rightfully so) that there is something bigger those AA guns are protecting - which is why they sent a bigger plane.

But I haven't heard deaths anywhere NEAR 4000. I'd actually assume closer to 200 or 300 deaths. Plus, the Taliban loads those stories to make us feel guilty, so you can hardly believe them.

It's definitely over 1000, going on US Military reports alone. There's a British academic expert on the area who's estimated 8,000 not including combat losses.

The figures I mentioned are reports from relief agencies and the UN - for some reason the US isn't keeping a real close tab.

Eight thousand my damn ass.

How could we have killed so many so fast?

The US dropped over 18,000 bombs in 3 months, that's how. I believe it's called carpet bombing.

Calm it down, Rick! :)

Did you read the rest of the thread?

You said:

"The only people we didn't catch were Osama and Mohammed Omar "

and

"Four-thousand civilian lives? No way! Show me a credible report saying it was four-thousand lives."

and

" I can't remember his name at all, though I may have heard the story."

and

"Eight thousand my damn ass.
How could we have killed so many so fast?"

and

"Still, we don't carpet bomb residential neighborhoods (I wish)."

You don't seem to me to be a person who knows what's going on in the world.

Rick (still calm)

OK i only skimmed the posts, but no one remembered that we bombed afghanistan to put in an oil pipeline to china. This will prevent china form instigating WWIII. {remember that japan sought "outward expansion" when they ran out of oil in 1939.} Blowing up a wasteland of camel jockeys and towelheads is good for our American sense of pride. Obviously we cant hold every afghan responsible for 9/11, but they took Osama's money just like any of you would have.
It is very critical for the survival of America that we show the Kalifornian people's republic that the good ol' USA will not tolerate BS. By blowing up an empty desert in Afghanistan, we showed all of the gay/liberal/democrats in Kalifornia that messing with the USA is the same as asking a guided bomb to fall on your children.
