Is GT5 really as popular as we think it is?

But from what I have seen this gen Sony hasn't done a good job of marketing their ip's. I only hope Sony breaks open the piggy bank for GT because it really has to be a global blitz.
I don't think they have to do that much, frankly. Just a mere mention of GT5 online has the nets buzzing about it. Do you think the GT Academy Time Trial demo won't clobber the intranet with download traffic for a day or more? ;)

Ratchet & Clank Future wasn't advertised all that well and half the gaming media thought it was just quaint, and it still sold one million copies in five months. Gran Turismo is much, much bigger and more popular. Sales of Prologue passing 4 million should be a clue as to how well GT5 is going to do, and then there's the TT demo coming online tomorrow. I'm not worried.

I like how PD is making the game they want to make otherwise it just wouldn't be Gran Turismo.

Greatness does not follow, it does not lead, it takes its own path. The Gran Turismo series is undeniable proof of this postulate. There were no games like it in its inception, and nothing like it today.
