IMO It depends on the color it's wearing.

Bright Red = undeniably 100% girly
Deep Blue = 80% girly
White = 40-60% girly
Black = 5-10% girly

Bright Red = undeniably 100% girly

Which is why over 60% of all Ferraris are red.

:D

While Miata is a rather feminine name... I don't see a problem with it. You have Silvias and Fairladies, and nobody calls those cars girly.

-

Considering most petrolheads seem half-ready to marry their cars, I'd think the standard car-driver relationship would be a bit more awkward if the MX-5 was named something like Bob.

Calling the car a "Miata" doesn't help it being labeled girly.

Out of interest... in which territories does it get called "Miata". Here it's always called "MX-5" and often shortened to "Mex" by those "in the know"*

Anyway, my NB was black, so raaaarrrr.

*The kind of people I avoid in pubs, if I'm honest.

This is the NC were discussing. It doesn't look girly at all. In my opinion, the PRHT when raised, actually makes the car look slow. Top down is how the car should always be.

North America call it a Miata or MX-5 Miata
Europe/Australia call it an MX-5.
Japan call it Roadster

Yes boss :D I was just asking a) a question applicable to all the MX-5s and b) Mentioning my own (ex) MX-5 once again :D

I wouldn't buy the power-hard-top version of the MX-5 NC, it's 75 kilos extra which is a bit extreme, in my opinion. Man-up and put the soft-top on ;)

EDIT: For clarity; the brochure states the flat weight for the Roadster roof (more inter-territory confusion with their naming, I guess) at 37kg extra. I know from colleagues that it comes in at more than that in total... PistonHeads seem to agree.

It was called MX-5 Miata upon launch in America. Soon it was just referred to in everything official as the Miata since that was what everyone called it anyway. Then with the NC Mazda attempted to change every territory to "MX-5" (to save money on badges, maybe?), and referred to it in initial North American materials as such. Then people continued to call it the Miata anyway, so Mazda gave up. There was a brief period where Mazda USA looked to be attempting the rebranding again, but it once again didn't stick so they gave up again.

And that's based off what exactly?

 Uhm... I think you missed out on a portion of my comment...

IMO It depends on the color it's wearing.

see the "IMO" at the beginning? Just in case you're not Internet savvy :dunce: IMO means In My Opinion. Take note, OPINION. This is not strictly a fact, but rather, it's what I think.

Red is one of the best colours for a Miata.

And when did I bash about the color red on a Miata? I just simply said that it's girly. Dude, did you just seriously mistook me for a sexist? C'mon... :ouch: The reason why I said that Bright Red on an MX-5 is girly is because Bright Red makes the MX-5 look sexy and cute. It gives the car a feminine appeal, which is great.

I just LOVE-- no, ADORE how a guy simply comments on something being girly, and then gets bashed for being sexist. People these days are too sensitive.

Which is why over 60% of all Ferraris are red.

:D

I'm pretty sure I was strictly speaking about the Miata. Nice counter argument, throwing in a different car on the subject matter. Bravo. :D

I can think of a few reasons. Maybe it's because Silvias and Fairladies don't have that certain finesse that the Miata has, or that they don't look as feminine. Or it could also be because they're more serious sports cars thanks to their powerful and highly tuneable engines.

Naming a cute car like that "Bob"? That's just dreadful. :yuck::yuck::yuck:

Yeah, just saying "imo" doesn't give you free reign to say anything you want.

I asked you to explain your reasoning for the Colours.
The other stuff I'm not even going to touch on because you're reading into something that's not there.

Edit: I'm too sensitive?
Oh and the Miata engine is highly tuneable, you can double the power without any internal engine mods.

But you're new to fora, right? ;)
New to what? Forums? Dude, I have been here since 2007.

Yeah, just saying "imo" doesn't give you free reign to say anything you want.

Then you have just essentially destroyed the whole point of forums like GTPlanet. And why on earth did you take what I said about the Miata too seriously? Were you offended in any way?

I asked you to explain your reasoning for the Colours.

Yes I did, but why? Why all this? Why insist for cold hard facts that don't exist when I already told you that the colors are purely based from my opinion. I stuck the IMO att the beginning of my first post to avoid a situation like this, but it still happened. Unbelievable...

Edit: I'm too sensitive?
I think so, you just took what I said about the colors way too seriously. You need to relax.

Maybe so, but I'll be damned to see a Miata engine tuned to the same level as SR20s or VQ engines.

Damn, if we can't voice out our own opinions on the internet, even if it doesn't harm another person, then 🤬 that, we all shouldn't be discussing about stuff and all our posts should be "All hail Jordan!!!" *facepalm*

Wow, but you never once read the AUP that I linked for you. Shame, you could have spared us the explanation of "IMO", it was funny though.

I've already read this before and understood the content of the AUP, why would I read it again? What, you think I violated the AUP at some point? Please, do tell me. Because I don't think I did something on my previous posts that breaches the AUP.

And none of this is funny, because I merely posted something trivial (which is my measurement of girly-ness of an MX-5 depending on colors) and someone just happened to take it seriously. I don't care if it's trolling or whatever, but I've had enough. I just simply voiced out my own view of things and this is what I get in turn.

This is off-topic... but you used "IMO", the AUP points out that you shouldn't use txtspk. Your explanation was funny though, I read it in a Bristol accent which possibly helped.

Nobody's saying you're trolling - simply that if you follow the rules you won't cause misunderstandings.

And I still don't think that any MX-5 is girly. Except in white :D

That's not TXTSPK. That's your standard Internet slang/jargon, which are composed mainly of acronyms. IMO is an example, and so is BTW (By The Way), AFAIK (As Far As I Know), and IIRC (If I Remember Correctly), among many others. TXTSPK is like this: "Hey man dnt 4get d party @ Ben's haus its guna b so kool". Internet slang is acceptable here. TXTSPK is not, as clearly stated in the AUP. I'm pretty sure I've seen some of the members here use the IIRC and AFAIK and such.

And I have. Though I might have gone a bit overboard recently because I posted a not-so-funny and very rude joke (in which case I got reprimanded by a mod), I have been more careful at posting stuff.

And I still don't think that any MX-5 is girly. Except in white :D

Yeah, White makes a MX-5 NC very pretty.

Posting your opinion is fine, but what you're doing is getting upset with someone else's opinion of your opinion. Don't get to bent out of shape on the matter, just discuss why instead of getting so aggressive.

There are going to be people that don't agree, and when you can have a discussion with out getting upset, everyone wins.

i knew that. Not at all blasting you on your post. I think it was more towards a color chart reference to the girly colors.

I brought it back to how I feel about the NC. all good.

So some of those kids are just total :censored:heads, then?

Common sense dictates that you don't drive anything nice to High School. Period.
His reasons he gave as to why seems to be the mentality of the younger generation right now. Espeically with the truck thing. Trucks are popular like FnF riced cars were in 2001.

That's why I'm so happy to be switching to online college classes for college starting this summer. All the kids who own trucks are in the college's auto programs, and they all drive like morons and have no accountability for their actions. Even my brother (an auto major himself) says that that is the driving force for him not wanting to return to college next year.
