Is there evidence of day night yet?

I've been reading a lot of the video / still image analysis threads lately and am amazed by what you guys pick up, so I was wondering if when looking at stills or videos of GT5 Prologue, or even the latest trailer is there any evidence that GT5 will support a day night cycle?

I was thinking they would have to implement realistic headlight beams, (maybe why there is so much detail in the headlights?) and found something that looks like that at 1:12 in the Leipzig trailer:

The Spec III trailer shows a sun coming up and early morning style filters:

I guess I'm looking for some evidence that they've moved away from pre-rendered shadows and lighting on the track itself to shadows that are cast in real time and share the same universal "sun" light source as the cars...

Maybe the bales of hay in the WRC section of the new trailer having floating shadows is a hint?

I did notice this while watching those vids:

see the difference? :)

edit,

just realized that that kind of thing has always been in GT :ouch:

Well in the e3 trailer, the bit that is supposedly the top gear track is in dawn, which is unusual seeing as the top gear track is is almost always in the day light.

Obv, that might not be the top gear test track, or they could have just decided to make the track in a dusk setting, personally, Test track or not, I think PD where just sending the message that day night cycles are coming.

Hard to say with the E3 video since they have had tracks at dawn before (Seattle and Laguna Seca in GT3), as well as night races (Special Stages, Hong Kong).

I would like to see Special Stage Route 11 come back to the game. And with this day / night cycle being reported we could see it in the daytime :D I love that course.

No. There is no evidence whatsoever, other than especulation. If at least we have had a chance to see the same track on different times, we could at least say there's evidence.

You and me both, brother. SSR11 was absolute joy!! That and THE OLD Deep Forest track kept me playing GT3 for many an hour.

1:05 & 1:20 are interesting.

1:05 looks like the London track with the camera lift in the background and road markings, plus headlights shining on the tarmac. There's some less dark bits later in the vid at daytona.

PD often make those trailers with environments that aren't in the game, but a lot of the Citroen GT video is footage from tracks that do exist - Daytona, El Capitan, and yes, there's what looks like gameplay-type "filming" done on a night track too, and judging by the jump, one we haven't seen before.

Also, looking at those GT5P videos surely proves nothing other than that PD create footage that doesn't appear in the game for their cinematic trailers.

Kazuori told that they working on night racing in GT5. Maybe that will be only night tracks like SS or Hong Kong. I want to see every track at night in GT5.

what if the jump scene is from special stage r5 or r11 ???? this could mean night races yes but day/night cycle ?

who knows ? just pd

Yeah there is nothing to suggest day/night cycles, but as far as I can remember, there is nowhere on r5 or r11 where you can get that kind of sweet air, which suggests that it's a new track.

it could be a new special stage
what is with hong kong city track wasn it @ night too ?
i need to play gt4 again .....

Does anyone remember the Rome Night Circuit for GT2? What a strange circuit. You could only get it in those one-make race events. Still, I liked it and hope it's reincarnated in 5.

Me too. Great moments on that track. I found out how to drift a little by changing the oversteer / understeer settings with the ford GT. I can't wait to have all those circuits again with better graphics and more cars!!!

i just hope they have they ability to select wat time u want to do a time trial or practice run, like in GTR2, with adjustable rain

I'm willing to believe that weather conditions will affect track temperature also.

That would be pretty cool.

We should make an R11 fan club...I don't understand why they didn't have the track in all versions of GT. This track is a classic (I personally prefer the GT1 version with the shifting underpass. 👍

I want to drive a GT-R on SS in night. It will be great with weater effects. All the lights reflections on wet road. Imagine that!

I did like that more than the change in GT3 to that track, except the part where I would crash into the barrier as I tried to squeeze through that chicane almost flat-out, and that happened quite a bit.

Yeah it took practice to get that right. SO MANY times I've gone at it full hammer thinking I'd make it through, and it's gone horribly wrong. But it is probably my 2nd favourite of all the tracks that have been in GT.

Try doing that with damage! This is gonna get messy lol
