I guess it's time to drag myself back to GT5

I figure a lot of people are probably a bit rusty at the moment, so I've decided to reschedule the qualifying deadline until Sunday May 29th, which should allow everyone enough time to get back in the groove of things 👍

:ill:....I smell a retirement (from GT) for me in the very near future

Does this mean this series is going to be canceled? If not, I would like to get in a qualifying run this weekend. Thanks T/A.

Yeah i feel a strong iRacing switch coming on :nervous:

Wish I could join you guys for this... Unfortunately I don't have a setup for that at home right now. Playing on a laptop doesn't sound like too much fun. :yuck:

Well, it's still on for now. But if there aren't 16 qualifiers by 5/31, I may very well end up cancelling the series.

With that said, if you're interested you can run the qualifier this weekend or next to secure a place in the series if it does actually take place. But tbh, intuition tells me that it's likely not going to happen unfortunately.

That's why I'll likely be moving to iRacing for good. GT5 just keeps going downhill like a roller coaster in terms of competition.

The competition is out there, just got to find the right people that will stick with you the whole way. Quite a few in the Miata Cup that have also signed up here. 👍

If I come back home a loser in a few weeks, I'll be purchasing a PC and try to join you.

Like I told Carl, GT5P was better racing than GT5. Lag is a big problem too compared to GT5P. Also, there are no official GT races, only randomly run rooms by people, that is a major flaw. Add sub-par physics on top of all that, especially the stupid draft, and I'm in the abandon GT boat and jumping in the iracing boat, too.

@ Turbo, I raced several times in the MX5 cup in iRacing yesterday and I'm pretty sure once you tried that you wouldn't go back to GT5. :) It is pretty awesome.

I did win 1 out of 5 MX5 cup races, and won my first attempt at a Legends race (crashed out in my second race). :D

Placed 3rd on my first MX5 cup race and won on my second or third try, it was very refreshing coming from GT5 and the competition is top notch. I spent tons of time in practice trying to correct my bad habits that i carried over from GT5 , but switching between back and forth between both sims is a bit annoying. I'll probably renew my membership next month especially if this series doesn't get off to a great start. The only thing holding me back from switching completely is my GT5 friends.

You see, at this level, I guess all of your friends from GT5 are somehow talented in simracing. And iRacing is the top sim if you want to have a challenge no matter what series you race. So, I guess it's not much of a problem because a lot of your friends will join iRacing one day. But yeah, when my PS3 stopped working, that's the first thing I thought: How am I race with my GT5 friends? The answer was: many of them are in iRacing...

Damn, seems everyones on the iRacing bandwagon now  It's funny because I created a iRacing Mustang Challenge series specifically for the people here on GTPlanet about a year ago, but cancelled the series a few races in because there ended up being a bunch of no shows and small grids :dunce: I guess I just have bad luck with getting people to race in my series

Anyways, now that so many seem to be making the swtich to iRacing, it might be worth it for me to create another iRacing series in the near future. I'll have to do some thinking and possibly send out some PM's to people here on GTPlanet who would likely be interested.

I still want to do this series. How many confirmed entrants do you have?

I think if you check previous posts, you can see a list of guys that qualified, along with their times.

Yea, it's at the bottom of the original post in this thread. The current entry list is up to date with a few driver's qualifier times.

I talked through pm with T/A. I am going to try and help him qualify people as we are very close to the deadline.

If anyone wants to qualify today, I will have the lobby open for the next 2 1/2 hours.

I will post the room number once it is set up.

I can open the room up again tonight when I get back from coaching vball. It will probably be around 7:30pm pacific time. If anyone is interested, please post here on the forum. I will check this thread when I get home.

*crickets*

I will check back to this space for the next couple of hours. Post here if you want me to open a room.

I got a lot of things to commit to this weekend, and the time I got mostly goes to the WSGTC.

I'm planning on doing my quali during Saturday. I'll probably got some time between 13.00 PM (CET) - 16.00 PM (CET). That's 11.00 PM (GMT) to 14.00 PM (GMT).

Would be great if a steward had the time to spectate my quali around that time.

Unfortunately it can't be me Chorda. My wife's sister and her sister's fiancee will be in town. I am taking them all to the Zoo that day. On Sunday, I have a beach vball tournament all day. The only time I can qualify anyone would be tomorrow afternoon.

Tomorrow afternoon? What time zone are we talking? GMT -?

Sorry Chorda, I had already gone to bed last night when you posted. I just got home and saw your post. Afternoon would be now.

I will be around for a while if you want to qualify today (I will be in and out doing chores, but I theoretically can qualify people for the next 5 hour window). Put a post here and I will do my best.

JPzer just qualified with a laptime of 1'59.229.

Congrats on qualification JPzer!

Please... I really don't want to miss this great championship.
