I'll be there in a second, my GT5 friends list isn't showing you so I'm restarting the game. :irked:

Edit: Done.

Wheeewww. 1:59.674 :D. That is a great qualifier BTW, plenty hard but not impossible. A full grid of people that fast is going to be amazing. 👍

Ugh, you guys are killing me.
I really don't get on well at this track TBH. I've ran some 1'59's, but not consistently enough to jump in for the qualifier yet :sly:

Great job on those that are in...and 1'58.2's??

I'm hoping online hosting a Qualifier room, will post room number in a bit.

We can also have some casual races just to get the feel of close racing cars on s-tires.

EDIT : Room No: 1472-6118-3615-5263-2529

Wow, I'm the slowest one. :grumpy: You guys are crazy.

Do we have to qualify for each race, or are we set for good once the top 16 times are in?

No, it's a one time thing. Once you're in, you're in.

My god.. I could see my self aproaching the high 58's with A LOT (1000 laps?) of practice!! To just jump in the SLS and do a 58.3 like that is VERY impressive! 👍

The qualifier is great btw!

Any news regarding round 1?

low 58's ? you guys are impressive, I am curious of the line you guys taking, I can see myself approching the hi 58's but low 58's ? I am oviously doing something wrong here lol. Anyway would be awsome to see you guys in action to learn a bit !

True that! 👍

I've reposted the re-established details for Round 1 (except for the race date) in post #2 of this thread: https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?p=5186566#post5186566

This track is for sure quite technical when it comes to those last few tenths. I find in some cases you need to balance between taking the fastest ideal line & taking the line which is most rubbered in 👍

Good job taming the beast for round 1 B, the difference is obvious and it'll make close racing a bit easier.

Pretty gutted :ouch: the Lacombe's aren't interested, i had some of my best GT battles today.

Yea it really is quite a dramatic difference. Now maintaining the rears will also be much easier of course.

Yea that was fun while it lasted  I should have stuck around for more :ouch:

I don't want to be a pain in the ***... But why is the turbo and engine stage 1/2/3 upgrade allowed?

EDIT: Talking about the ZR1 for round 1.

Rrr...I forgot to mention the damn supercharger upgrade is banned as well :ouch: Edit: (Just fixed the information)

I allowed the Stage 1/2/3 engine upgrades simply because they can't be taken off the car, and a lot of people have probably already performed these upgrades on their ZR1's which they may have owned for quite some time now. Of course I'd like to ban these types of upgrades (as they are easier to regulate/enforce) but for some people it may mean having to spend $250k + just to buy a car for each race.

Aa, ok.. Fair enough.. But on the other hand, some might want to keep their car stock.

Well, before causing more trouble (), I'll make sure to pass the quali. ;)

Thank you for a quick and reasonable response. 👍

No problem, this is a good discussion IMO 👍

Tbh, I would definitely consider banning the Stage 1/2/3 engine mods in some cases (as it's often a unneccesary mod, and without it would be easier to police peoples upgrades)...but I'd really want to get opinions from all of the participants regarding this (since it is really up to them afaic) 💡

I see what you are getting to.. My point of view is to keep the cars as stock as possible. The cars will have a more realistc feel, and the driving is more fun when you need to work constantly to keep the revs where you got the power at hand.

I don't equip my exotics with any mod that can't be detuned. So if all rounds will require engine stage to be competative, I'll have to buy 8 new exotics for this championship.

Especially since the turbo and engine stages are the only upgrades that can be policed with ease.

Great, I worked my way down to the 59.3s now, and 58.3s are possible? Just what I wanted to hear >=] I'll get right on that, haha.

As for regulating the cars and the mods, and the spending needed for them, I don't really see that as too big of a problem. Money is a pain to get in this game, but it's no problem at all. If need be, I'm more then willing to grind some Indy, in the Dream Car Championship just to get the spec car.

Denilson: I will keep this in mind. I agree, it would be nice to make the experience of driving each car as realistic as possible by banning such relatively extreme mods...not to mention the fact that it would make for easier enforcement as you said.

For the first round I will likely keep the regulations the way they are, as I've already done a bit too much tinkering around with the specifications and don't want to force people to have to buy another ZR1 due to my indecisiveness regarding this matter  :dunce: But for future rounds I may very well ban the stage 1/2/3 engine mods from the get go.

On the other hand of the argument (we aren't exactly supposed to be racing bone stock cars), I will say that the cars do generally seem to sound a bit more exciting (due to displacement increase and rpm increase) with the Stage 1/2/3 engine mods though...while still maintaing their original engine/exhaust tone. Also, you say that it is more of a challenge to drive a car wtih a more narrow powerband, as far as keeping the engine in the proper gear - to a good extent I disagree, as i think maximizing the traction with a car that has a lot of low end grunt to be much more of a challenge in the game then simply flicking a paddle to keep in the gear you need...but that is just in my experience. In fact, I find the more torquey cars to not only be more difficult to drive because of tractions issues, but also because to REALLY maximize the lap time in this game you often have to downshift to a lower gear (in slow speed corners) just prior to the apex to get the car to rotate to the apex as quickly as possible. Of course when you have a very torquey car with a lot of grunt (and traction issues) and are using such a technqiue, it means you usually must then quickly shift back up a gear as you clip the apex and begin applying the throttle upon exiting....which can be difficult to execute and time perfectly.

Regardless, I'm still leaning torward banning the engine mods in upcoming rounds (mainly due to how it unrealistically affects the powerband when the you start having to use the hp limiter, and the fact that it's easier to police without these mods)....so we shall see.

Hopefully all this makes sense...

Yes, you are right. I guess I did not made my point clear to 100%.

I was trying to say that it's more fun (according to me) to drive a car with a more narrow power band. Not more difficult. Sorry if that was the way it came thru.

Engine A produce 500 hp between 2000-8000 rpm
Engine B produce 500 hp between 6000-8000 rpm

Given that you can stay between 6-8k rpms with engine B, the cars performance is identical. The big difference is that you need to be very careful with your choice of gear with engine B, and that you don't need to be as "exact" as far as your gear choice goes in the engine A example.

I shall now stop posting irrelevant arguments in this thread. I just felt I needed to explain my self. 👍

Great qualifier, great drivers, great effort from the Organizers/stewards. 👍

Looking forward to this wery much!

Unfortunately I think I'm gonna have to take myself off the registration for this. Just doesn't look like I'm going to have the time. :(

So I was messing around tonight with my ZR1 in an online room I started. Had it set for max 630pp, and sport hard tires with all assists off, running the Nordschliefe at dawn.
Just by chance, timeattack joined the room in his ZR1 so we had some good fun slip sliding our way around the Green Hell.

Anyone who thought running 700+hp on sport softs was too much should try it out on sport hards
It really wasn't that bad once you got used to it :sly:

Not too many other people stayed in the room long, there were a lot of spinning triangles on the track map

We tried out the Nürburgring GP/F for a bit, before finally putting on sport softs and running Grand Valley. They felt like race softs compared to the sport hards

Unfortunately this made me realize how slow I am at this track; why did you have to pick this one for the qualifier? :ouch: Oh well, I think I learned a few lines there in the one race we did. Just need to go back to the SLS and figure that thing out so I can run the qualifier.

Is the first race this Sunday then? There's no date on round 1, but there's a lot of talk about the 24th. Unfortunately I won't be able to make that day, but I'm very interested in running this series.

Good fun last night Egghead 👍 I need to do that more often (run beast cars on S1's) :sly:

Regarding the first race - it won't be held until we have 16 qualifiers. The deadline for qualifying is supposed to be the 24th, but a lot of people have yet to qualify so the date for the first race is still up in the air. I would like to run the first round on the following weekend after everyone has qualified though.

When I get home from work today I'm going to try and send out some PM's to some of the fast people I know, and also to some of the guys who are competing in the European GT Academy (as they could probably use some good/hard racing to prepare for the finals 💡).

Anybody willing to do the Qualifier in the next hour? I'll be online so let me know via psn (tony1311) and i'll open a room.
