Breaking News: Foot-In-Mouth disease found in the US... well, in Pat Robertson's mouth anyway. Apparently Ariel Sharon's stroke was divine retribution for the Israeli withdrawal from the Gaza Strip...:ouch:

Jerusalem Post article and Guardian article

After reading about plans to build a biblical theme park on the shores of the Sea of Galillee (which even the Israelis were questioning the motives of - article), it seems that Pat Robertson's comments were too much, even for the Israelis to stomach..., and hence now the plans looks for the theme park are likely to be shelved. With hugely insensitive comments like this from such a major player in the project, is it any wonder that the Israelis were questioning his motives in the first place?

What? That has nothing to do with his health Touring Mars.

Anyways, they are slowly bringing him out of his medically induced coma. They can reverse it and put him back into a coma at any time if they need to. So far he has moved his left hand.

It is unknown how much brain damage he has.

If you had read the articles you would realise that I was having a go at Pat Robertson and not Ariel Sharon... Robertson's comments were directly related to Sharon's stroke...

Pat Robertson thinks that Ariel Sharon's stroke was delivered upon him by God, in retribution for Sharon's decision to hand the Gaza Strip back to the Palestinians... any rationally minded person will realise that this statement is horrendously bonkers...

What gives a Christian evangelist like Robertson any 'authority' to come out with this sort of warped nonsense? Is his belief in God that much more important than everyone elses? I don't think so... if he knew anything about anything, he would realise that a stroke is just a stroke... a medical ailment, and NOT a judgement from on high... What if Robertson has a stroke tomorrow? Is that God having a pop at him for ruining the plans for the new Bible theme-park?? That statement is equally as ludicrous and offensive as what Robertson has just said about Sharon... unfortunately for Robertson, despite his high-level supporters (like the Bush administration), in reality he has no political authority or mandate to come out with crap like this and get away with it...

Good old Pat. The last of the great televangelists and they still haven't been able to bring him down...
