Wow that is amazing, very very great job. Very well done. You made it look so smooth and lifelike. Wow, you should write a book on Gran Turismo Photomode. Hahah jk. Very amazing job, stuff like that should be used to promote this game.

I would love for you to share some tips and stuff if you wanted. But if you want to keep those secrets, its cool :sly:

Seriously Jacoja, if you manage to pull something like this off with a '79 Nissan Bluebird, i'll be amazed!

I just wanted to make a quick suggestion. It's not necessarilly quick, but it's easy and I haven't really seen too many people do this trick. And that is keeping the original shadow shape. Of course, there is a very dark shadow under the car that doesn't get affected, but there is a secondary shadow that kind of shows the sillohette of the car. You basically treat it like the blurred background, but you blur it seperately. You save the original shape of the shadow by saving a selection. Then after you have blurred the shadow seperately under all of the same settings as your background, just load the selection, invert it, and delete away the shadow that has been blurred out of the original shape. If you look back at my Subaru shot that you reffered to earlier, you will see what I mean. Just a little suggestion. I have been thinking about creating a tutorial for this, but just have not had the time to do so. But that is still an incredible shot Jaco!👍

Dude, that shot is just amazing!

It almost jumps off the screen, so alive it is. Excellent work, really.

I was wondering about the cables reflection on the car, too. How did you get them to look like that, starting with what was on the original photo? They're perfect, and the original ones were TOTALLY messed up covering a large area of the hood and front of the car.

Once more, congratulations, great job.

Also, that's a great tip, 440 CHARGER. :)

@440Charger:
lol, It did take me a while to figure out what you were talking about, but looking at your reference spots, I see what you and Franz mean. I didn’t spot them myself, but it’s something I’ll try and fix for the next update. (Or when I finally come up with an idea for a new update) 👍 .

Btw Charger, thanks for the shadow tip. You can see in front of the car that I attempted to blur the blurred shadow back a bit, and I also used the dodge tool to lighten-up the area. But I’ll try your suggestion next time. I reckon it will turn out quite nice.

No worries. If you have any questions about anything, just post them here (or PM) 👍

I’ll see what I can come up with then

______

It wasn’t that hard creating the new reflections over the hood… just time consuming in my opinion.
How I did it in photoshop:

The Polygonal Lasso tool was used to outline the areas which I intended to fill in as my reflections. To obtain the colour of the new reflections, the ‘eyedropper’ tool was used to borrow colours from reflections which already existed on the car (in this case, the dark purple). After I filled each new segment, I then set the lasso outline to Select> Inverse. That allowed me to then remove the unwanted reflections (of the pixilated overhead wires) by using the smudge tool. I basically continued this all the way over the car, one segment at a time.
I wish I could explain it much better…. Maybe I’ll create some sort of tutorial so at least some people can understand my rubbish explaining.
But thanks very much for the amount of feedback. I’ll happily create a new picture as soon as possible. I’m thinking of something British, or 80’s. :)

The lasso tool + invert is a very interesting method! Rendering that car with vectors could be very painful, but not necessary with the resolution we are working now. I'll try it next time to clean difficult areas. Thanks!

I looked at this update due to Ultra recommending it in his podcast (episode 4) and my god, what an update! It's just...amazing. The cleanup is phenomenal. How the hell did I miss this?!

Time for another update. Three of these images were part of the photomode tournament (Aston - Qualifying Round, Skyline - Round 1, Monaro - Round 2)... only missed out on Round 3 by just one vote! Good time though, and Sejtur well deserved those votes. 👍

Finally some updates!!!
Well U already know my opinion about the Tournament entries. Gotta say that the Skyline is really brutal looking!!!
The Mustang shot its a very good one, the car is full of quality, and I love the reflections on it. Love how the red of the car its like "apart" from the rest of the shot, if U know what I mean:tup:
Now about the bike shot, very smooth, but also a very nice blur. Like the colors a lot!!! The camera have captured real well the action...and U really did the blur to follow the camera "line"👍
Hope U could update more often, this gallery its so HOT!!!!

👍

Awesome stuff, mate. All of it.

All your 3 tournament shots got my vote, already commented on them.

The Mustang looks great, is that all photoshot blur? Awesome work on the clean up of door and hood lines, and getting that red to look so great.
I'm also liking the light purplish tone on the scenery.

The TT shot is also very good, very smooth and soft, but that left leg of the rider (the hip joint) seems weird in some way...

I have to comment on that Monraro again, that's a mighty impressive work on the reflections, truly brilliant.

I have a shot on that location on display on my gallery where I tried to do something similar, but it's nowhere near as good as that one.

If you want to check it and give your opinion, just click the link on my sig.

Mustang: Love the tone and looks clean. I think the half blur half sharp reflection on the windshield looks very weird, my other suggestion is to add blur near tunnel area to increase depth

Aston: This one looks good too, but the rims looks slower than the car moves. Same as the mustang, it is very easy to look at, but I think it is hard to draw attention when line up with high contrast colourful shots, some thick white border may help

Ducatti: I really like this shot caused it comes with my favorite framing style. The best thing is very Italian!!

Both Holden and Pennsoil GTR are awesome ... great update!

Very nice shots man, but to be honest, I don't really like the Aston, it doesn't have anything special to me. The rest of em are killer shots though. 👍 They're so nicely cleaned up, most of time I'm too lazy to do it, but the cleanup of the Monaro beats it all. Damn, to lines are almost real! The Ford shot looks great, nice composition, and the Ducati has nice colors. The Penzoil just looks very professional. :D

About our match; you missed round 3 by 2 votes, you needed 2 more to win. ;) You would deserve the win too. 👍 BTW I'm going to PM my entry for the final now. :nervous:

i love what you did with the sun on the last photo, though they're all fantastic shots. great to see the S2000 shot once again though.

Geez, sorry for the delayed response everyone. The first half of my week was very busy, and most of the second half I spent with my head over the toilet, or laying in bed... food poisoning I suspect. Anyway, (that that I'm fine again) thanks to everyone for adding the comments. 👍

@NTX: Thanks ntx, I'll aim for another update ASAP (without any rush of cause) :)

@Beerzy: Firstly, thanks for the votes on the tournaments :) .

Mm, I sometimes use the more natural-looking blur provided by GT4 (as used in the Vanquish photo) but It really appeared smoother in the Mustang shot after using a dose of photoshop blur.

btw, after the amount of times I've crashed that bike, it's no wonder the riders hip has re-formed into something that looks like a twisted T-bone steak.

@Franz: Good suggestions for the Mustang photo... Didn't think about blurring the tunnel, but it makes good sense why 👍 . The reflections on the windshield are completely stock from the original photo (apart from the contrast), I just wanted that special 'in-game' appearance to remain in the photo, without totally overdoing the editing.

@Sejtur: For me, the qualifying round was a good opportunity to be creative and use different methods in a photo to see how people would respond... that's where the Vanquish shot came in. I wasn't too sure how it would go in the poll, but I know now obviously (Only just squeezed into Round 1 :scared: ).
btw, I needed 1 more vote for a draw, lol, sorry :)

@jgda9rs: Cheers! :)

Cheers^

I couldn't find a place to post this, so I may as well post it in my gallery (considering it's a 'Picture and Video Gallery' sub-forum). It's just a 15-second video of a humorous finish I had a few hours ago. The RUF driver got a bit too carried away with his overtaking manoeuvre, and payed the price during the last few seconds of the race :)👍 ... good fun.

lol you're driving you favorite car around a track, owning RUFs lol. Did you push him or did he kinda own himself?

Hehe, yeah... I think it was a bit of a combination. Though he did ram into me a few times before the finish, so it was a bit of revenge :).

lol, Cheers tommi 👍

that is so dirty! something schumacher would probably do if he could. great vid though.
good to see you back here as well.

Whoaa. It’s been a very long time since I’ve last updated my gallery. I found a few older pictures on my computer from previous photomode competitions, which I haven’t yet posted. The Nike and Formula GT pictures were created for Round 1 and Qualifying for the current 2010 photomode tournament. A couple of new pictures are in the works at the moment, for round 2. Stay tuned for updates.
