Idk mane. I'll have to see the rest. All the current Jaguars look dated already and this one is kinda the same for me right now. I don't think they got their redesigns on the market quick enough.

I like Jag and I'd be likely to buy one because they're different but I wish they had the resources to make something really awesome happen. The current XJ is a gorgeously nice car, especially on the inside, but something about the outside doesn't look fresh anymore.

EDIT: For clarification of what I mean, the C-X17 concept SUV is sexy as hell. It's got the bold, curvy fender flares of the F-Type that the XJ, XF and XK lack. Those three cars are too soft and featureless. The F-Type is still sexy while being more bold and I hope the XE follows that trend to avoid the slab-sidedness of the XF.

I'm beginning to agree on the XF, though it's very spec-sensitive. The R models look great in the right colour, but we get a lot of bottom-end diesels over here with wheels that look too small, so it looks a bit lumbering. Doesn't help that the XJ looks a lot more sleek.

I've never been overly keen on the F-Type, to be honest. The Coupe looks best of the pair (and it's great to drive) but it's too short and fat. Doesn't have the elegance that Jags have previously excelled at.

The XE will look pretty good though, I reckon. If they can give it the sort of lithe profile of the 3-Series, they're on the right lines - it needs to look as light and dynamic as the aluminum body suggests it should be.

Hope they make the interior more XJ/F-type than XF.

I like how it looks like a Jaguarized Commodore.

I wonder how they'll slot it in price-wise. 3 series starts at 32,750, but I don't think Jaguar can match that. I figure it will be at least $35,000.

Well they haven't really changed the brands design language since the XK and XF which launched 7 years ago. I wouldn't say its all that dated because they are trying to keep a classic Jag look and the range is cohesive but it would be nice if they went bolder and stopped basically putting XF front and tail lights on every model.

I think it's a case of aiming for the actual market rather than the target market!... they don't want something too crazy.

Auto Express
M3 baiting

Not the best choice of words there

Not sure how I feel about those tail lights. Rest of the cars looks great though. Will have to wait for better pics.

If the F-type is for supervillains and evil geniuses, does that make this new X-type for organized crime lieutenants and goons?

Rear end is very familiar.

Oh my god I haaaaate those airconditioning vents. Why is the left one so low? Also, the tails look like they're tired or grumpy or something. What is the deal with that little droopy thing? That's so dumb. Audi lights lol.

This car looks like an XJ had an orgy babymaking party with a 3 series, a Tesla, and a Commodore.

Dont forget the A7 dropped by the hot night party too...

Seems the lottery works well tho... overall...

I think the semi-circles are a nod to the F-Type's lights if anything. But yeah, the shape of the lights in general, in relation to the rear of the car, makes it look like Jag's take on an A5.

Otherwise, nice looking (if familiar) car. I find it odd how identical Jag is making their sedans look, at least up front.

Good looking car from the front. But, unsure of the rear. Looks like the designer was drawing & went, "Ok, stop. Here's good".

It looks good, if a little un-original.

The front is a baby-XJ, the side is a shrunk-XF, the tail-lights are A6 meets F-Type, and the bottom of the rear bumper looks like it's straight from a 335i. The interior looks nice, but missing something. The dashboard looks bland, and could do with some trim on it IMO.

EDIT: Oh, and I just skipped through that launch show video, which was basically Jaguar: The Musical for an hour.

It doesn't look bad but its not very original either. That may be fine in the UK where Jaguar has a respectable market share, but in other parts of the world where people predominantly go for the German Big 3, it needed something special to set itself apart, and its a missed opportunity as far as that goes.

As a car that isn't a BMW 3-series/Audi A4/Mercedes C-Class, its a winner for me. Does that mean I want it more than a Volvo S60 Drive-E? No, not necessiarily. But, like a lot of modern Jaguars, it seems like a hell of a car.

I believe the slightly disappointing rear wasn't the designers' first choice. That hint of F-Type in the rear lights was supposed to be a lot more like the F-Type but somewhere along the line a bean-counter appears to have got their way.

Front 3/4 and side? Great, to me. Like the interior too as a whole, but not convinced by the center console. Oddly bland after the clean, simple XF, the striking XJ and the driver-orientated F-Type's cabin. It looks again like someone styled the interior and then they slapped a generic center console in the middle of it all.

I like it. Don't have any issue with it's tail-end design, think it looks fine. It has just the right level of aggression to it. The X-type was always rather 'passive' looking.

Overall shape is very 3-series, probably due to it's RWD chassis and therefore it's axle placement.

If it's going to try and take sales from the 3-series, C-class and A4, then looking like one isn't going to harm it. I imagine that 'looking different to it's rivals' is one of the reasons why the X-Type never took many sales away from the big three.

Interiors are always hard to gage from photos. Until you sit in a car and interact with the interior controls you can't really judge it. It's like judging an engine by looking under the bonnet/hood.

I think it's a very attractive car, and pending first impressions, would have one over the Germans despite the inevitably inferior electronic gadgetry. I do think that @Xilor nailed it when he said that it's not quite special enough. It'll sell well in the UK where we have a soft spot for Jaguars, but I don't think sell as well as Jaguar are hoping in other markets, especially the US.

Jaguar are selling more and more cars to the US. Don't see any reason why this one would be any different. The Chinese market is probably the most important one for them right now.

While that's true, the last few Jag interiors have looked as impressive as they've felt. This one... doesn't. I've no doubt the steering wheel is nice (since it seems to be pretty similar to the one from the F-Type) and I like the sculpted doorcards leading into the curve around the top of the dash like it does on the XJ, but the centre stack is pretty bland.
I loved the interior when I had it on a 2007 Mondeo.
It definitely has that dated look to it.
