Jaguar Reveals Rebrand for its EV Future (😬)

Come to think of it, maybe this is why all three versions of the Jaguar VGT are EVs. Especially the SV, which I think should've been a hybrid so it could be eligible for Gr.1.

There is nothing of the new brand identity in those cars and the designs are 6 years old by now - I don't think Jaguar themselves knew they wanted to rebrand at that point.

It's more likely that they were made electric because they wanted to promote the I-Pace.

Which is weird considering not only is the car not in the game, but I'm not sure it was all that much of a sales success. I think they also leaned towards their Formula E team considering they had a full scale mockup right next to their car.

But yeah, the Vision GT designs were definitely far before management decided to be even MORE misguided then they already were.

Am I the only one who thinks putting a satin finish on a car with sharp body lines just makes it look like it was pulled out of a Sega Dreamcast game? It just seems so... flat.

It‘s hard to fathom that this is the same company that built the E-Type and XJ220
Sort of weird to use A) a model which grew incredibly derpy as it evolved to satisfy market demands and governmental regulations and B) a halo supercar as a basis for comparison.

Took me 20 seconds. Pay me my millions.

To be fair, all EVs look the same: like a failed piece of Lego designers attempt with some LED stripes front and back.
I actually think the Porsche Taycan and Tesla Model S look decent but what you wrote is true for most EV‘s.

It‘s like all manufacturers think that designing your cars to look as futuristic and extravagant as possible is a good thing. Imo when it comes to design, less is more (good examples would be Aston Martin or Porsche).

I needed to exaggerate to pull some good stuff from other responses - it worked!
I was going to post the Ioniq 5N but... it is a bit brick-like.

Edit: Ahh, screw it:

The GranCabrio there has 750hp, and that's my photo from when I drove it last week... Ioniq 5N via youngest daughter, because she can't drive but she can hold a camera and more or less do what she's told :D

Despite that it has a certian flair, until compared to a car that one would think would be almost identical.
Then its size suddenly seems less appropriate.

The Mazda6e looks genuinly good, not like a deliberatly futuristic piece of modern art.

Beautiful shot, looks like a Gran Turismo scape!
