Oh, and the cars were epic.

There are some surprises in the works. I won't say anything, since I'm not sure what is allowed and what isn't, but you'll be excited!

You realize this is like bragging about how awesome cocaine is in front of a bunch of constantly-recovering addicts, right? :sly:

Is going to attempt to patiently wait until the news arrives. :nervous:

Lol :P This is so true.

I have a question. I was not able to go to the party @ the Classic Car Club of Manhattan, but I am going to the film festival today. Will there also be Gran Turismo 6 simulators there too, or were they just for the party?

Glad to see people who have attended had fun, great to hear of the physics change as well.Roll on TGS

5. Kaz has a cool fashion sense.
Now THIS was epic news! :D

As for impressions of the demo, I'm anticipating some PC sim-like feel, more than ever. Which for me is awesome sauce on a sirloin steak. Hopefully some GT6 news won't require Kaz to be at that SUNDAY news conference for the embargo lift. That would cause me ulcers. :P

Epic as in life like maybe :sly:, which is why "the general amount of crashiness of most people". I can't wait to know more in details :P

What was so "Epic" about the cars?

The real life GT40, Cobra, Gallardo, SLS, and other cars that are part of the CCC's stable? When they started them up to move them around, of course!

There were no new cars or tracks, which was sort of expected, but it was still a chance to play with quite a lot. I'm not sure if the pods will be at BAM today (I won't find out until Rush's showing), but if they are, I'll try to get some more seat time, hopefully with sound this time!

Kaz will still be in town for the day (surely the lure of Rush :P ), and as Jordan mentioned, the new documentary by Tamir is what I was referring to with the surprise comment. Not to say there isn't more coming, but that was definitely the big one to come out last night.

So a little more detail about the physics. Again, it is REALLY hard to tell anything in this type of environment (no sound and worn out T500RS), so take everything with a grain of salt.

The most distinctive car was the Pagani Huayra. IMO even the twitchiest cars in GT5 were pretty controllable. This thing was an animal. Way harder to drive than any car in GT5. This car had a very narrow slip angle where it was happy. Go beyond that and it is game over. Kind of reminded me of the Escudo, just in how it bites. Overall, I got the impression that the higher the power the more throttle control is required. You cannot just floor it, throw a little oppo and fly out of a corner.

Lower power cars FRS felt a lot like GT5. A little more natural feeling of understeer to oversteer and overall, more understeer than GT5 but otherwise the same. IMO closer to the real thing.

Focus ST felt great. Lift off oversteer and all. I have driven the real thing and this is a pretty good representation. I doubt they will model the horrible brakes that fade in 2 laps the real car has. Hopefully this is indicative other FWD cars.

I did not get a chance to drive the older cars, I will try to do that today.

Racecars are all about braking. They have tons of grip above 70mph. When the downforce kicks in, like in GTA, you can feel it. But the braking is an important point. Sure you can trail brake slide it in, but 9 times out of 10 this will result in over rotation. The cars do not like to be upset in any way. If you want to be consistent you need to brake in a straight line. You also need to pick your steering angle. Any mid corner correction really upsets the car. Overall, the super gripiness of race cars in GT5 seems to be gone. I am just happy the GTR GT3 actually turns in.

I do think the Pagani and race cars would be easier to control if I my CSW and my headphones on so I could actually feel what the heck I am doing.

Visually, the game looks great. Sunset/sunrise locals look fantastic. Shadows are a little softer but not terribly different from GT5. I only noticed hickups when I was racing the AI. Some frame rate drops like I said before and a little pop in. Not "horrible" but noticeable. Menus are easy to navigate and loading is quick. I think it is safe to say GT6 will launch in a better state than GT5.

Also, I am going to set up my DSLR again and see if I can get some high quality video. I will also bring my heaphones with an extension cord and see if they let me plug them into the TV.

I wonder if I can make Devil Z replica on GT6 :) no ABS, CS tires, 600HP-700+HP and just over 1000kg, wangan battle at SSR7, EPIC. It's amazingly challenging and rewarding in GT5.

How good was the AI? Was it as easy as in e3 or gamescom where you could pass all in half a lap?

To be honest, still pretty bone headed I am afraid.

Imagine non-ABS on CS compound and NRL vs. GTS showoffs via new community features :D

Great impressions, thank you much for everything 👍

I will try CS tires, but I do not think they are needed anymore. SH seemed to have the appropriate amount of grip for "sports/super cars".

I take it you mean no aids except ABS and not no aids and no ABS

Yes. I was not about to make myself look silly. I will try no abs when I try the older cars.

Hmm, the Pagani's run almost semi slick Pirelli tires. They even say they're made from the same process the slick tires used on the Zonda R were. Those P Zero's have tremendous grip, and they aren't even as good as the Michelin's used on cars like Ferrari's F12. Hopefully the characteristics are down to it being a new car and not tires that are too hard compared to real life.

Keep in mind that the car has 720 bhp and is 2 wheel drive.

Unless things have changed since GT5, cars are given generic stock tires, most of the supercars being on SH tires, which may or may not bear any resemblence to it's real world counterpart.

If Kaz is still there can someone ask him about the Gamescom trailer song and if we will get the pre race animations in races?
