Japanese Classics Racing - Prizes!

With these kinds of cars, I would really love if this continued to happen every once in a while, maybe once a month or every two months. But it's your call. And unless there's a few more planning on JGT2, I'll stick to JGT1 for a more interesting race. (Though it's not on your list, the S800 could probably make it up to JGT1 specs)

Maybe I should do two runs. One for this Sunday and one for the Sunday after. How's that? Oh and I might just join ya in JGT2. ;) I've been eye-ing those Honda S's.

Can I switch one more time please? I'm still testing some of the cars :P

Yes. 2 car switches max. :P

Kidding... unlimited car switches! For the price of... joking. Oh wait, we need to organize a time!!!

I hope you dont mind me saying this, but i posted earlier that i would like to join, but the front page entries hasnt shown me on it, and that my final choice of car is the Nissan Silvia (CSP311) '65 :).

I'm looking forward to it that's for sure, cant deny that :D its just what time would the event start at GMT (maybe starting 9-10pm GMT might be a good time slot possibly)? depending on what time i might be able to be there for the whole race or not, whatever happens i think it will be quite an enjoyable race :).

PS: Also what about the usage of power limiters? im not planning to use them, but im just wondering incase, if they are allowed or not, surprised they weren't mentioned earlier.

Hi the car i would like to enter in the Japanese Classic is Nissan Fairlady 2000 SR311 68 colour red team if I need one same as mini racing JRW Racing. Thanks do you know when race will be. Thanks john

If power limiting(aka cheating) is allowed, then I'm out.

I agree & I deliberately chose a low.power car so I could have a choice of which upgrades to use.

Problem is if you say no.power limiter ...how do you enforce that?

How does the power limiter want to make you want to quit? I don't exactly see how it's cheating either.

I think power limiting alters the power/torque curve, which can be beneficial on some cars.

While slightly unreleated to the event itself, i just witnessed how it can be abused, i went in a 355PP online room, i used the car im using for this event, but everyone else was in some supercar/racercar super powered down from normal, and they were unfairly much faster compared to me, even on the circuit chosen (Eiger Nordwand), i'd prefer the Power Limiter to not be allowed, but i suppose its up to EliteDreamer, or we could have a poll 👍

Maybe the power/torque curve isn't really altered, at least not significantly. And plus, power restrictions only restricts Horsepower, and anything related to it, and since HP is just how long the car can go within a certain speed, it doesn't really impact much on some cars.

Sorry if you don't understand. Explaining it the best I can.

Let me put it as simple as possible. Say you have set the limit to 150BHP. You then have two cars of the same make.

First car is stock at 149BHP.

Second car has had a racing exhaust and a racing air filter mounted, and then been power limited to 149BHP.

That second car will still be better than the first, because its upgrades still apply.

Is there any chance at all of this happening later than 8PM? If not, please tell me so I can plan around it.

Hmm... tuning is going to be complicated. I think the power limiter shall be prohibited.

Also, the race can't be tomorrow. I have plans I never knew of. We'll race the Sunday after. Alright with you guys?

Ok, looks like I won't be able to participate unless you host another run of this far in the future.

Nope. I moved into my college dorm today, and although I could go back home tomorrow for the race, it would probably be better if I didn't. And I definitely won't have my PS3 hooked up by next Sunday either. Have the race anyway though, and maybe in a few months you can host it again and I'll be able to.

I think this discussion is fruitless for a number of reasons I'd like to point out.

I've done testing, which proves to me, that powerlimiting a fully tuned car does give an paper-advantage over a non-tuned non-powerlimited car at the same level of hp. Mainly because it improves torque numbers.

BUT within reasonable limits (like in the case of the cars and PP limits set for this race) it has very little effect. In a 40 lap race other factors has lot more relevans, drivers skills, tyrewear, pitstrategy...damage.

And most important, every addon has its advantages and disadvantages in regard to particular cars. Smacking a stage3 turbo on, doesnt always improve neither speed or handling on every type of car. Tuning a car succsesfully is simply more than just adding the most powerful parts and then powerlimiting.

jackargent has another argument: ...how do you enforce a ban against powerlimiting; you can't.

I dont think we need to powerlimit these cars to unreasonable limits, but as the possibility is put in the game, use it to tune your cars to the best possible performance within the PP limit, and lets have some great racing..:)

You have now been added. Sorry, sometimes posts don't show up at all for me. Very odd.

9-10 would be good. PM right? How does everyone else fit into that?

^^

I'm down with that time :D

And also, you should change the prizes to '67 tickets, as all of our cars will be from around that era :dopey:

I don't have one. :(

Me neither :( But I do have a couple of rides that I think if exchanged, could get me a '67 ticket. Then I could dupe them and donate them here (I'm gonna dupe 3 of 'em, as I need one for a series :P). But consequently, people would also join just for the prize rather than the competition, fun factors, etc., so that's the bad part of having those as prizes.

Exactly. I guess. Sticking with the 1000 tickets I guess. If I make any future similar races, I'll do a '67 ticket. Or in a classics series.

I think we should do Nordschleife instead of Suzuka, but I think that's my fanboyism talking :P
