Alright, here's my real predictions for this update.
I'll be generous and say we might actually get Pikes Peak. Assuming we do, it'll have 3-4 races on it. The rest of the races added will be WTC 600-800, scattered throughout the circuits. If Polyphony is feeling extra generous, we might get a new menu book or two instead.
There's a lot of categories that the game marks that aren't used. Cars tagged "Le Mans" don't have a Le Mans race. "Midship" and "Hypercar" are unused. I think "Hybrid Car" is too. "Pickup Truck" is... technically unused, because they instead chose to restrict by two specific trucks instead of the "Pickup Truck" category. "Safety Car" is unused, and probably always will be. "Electric Car" doesn't have any races. "Gran Turismo Award", I didn't even know it existed until now. "Nurburgring 24 Hours", nothing.
So, you might be wondering, what does get used as a race restriction? "Road Car", "Professionally Tuned", "Racing Car", "Kei Car", and "Vision Gran Turismo". The latter two were unused on release, meaning it was only three of them.
Cars tagged with "Road Car" are going to find very little to do outside of Sunday Cups and drivetrain-restricted races. If they're too fast, they'll only find use in WTC races.
"Professionally Tuned" cars only get the three Clubman Cup Plus races, which are also open to "Road Car"s. Outside of that, WTC races, unless they're also tagged as "Road Car".
"Racing Car" races are limited to the few Gr.B/4/3/1 races... oops, the Gr.1 races actually allow anything to enter, making them essentially WTC 950 races. So make that Gr.B/4/3. Gr.2 has nothing, but that's probably because there's only 8 Gr.2 cars in the game. Outside of the few Gr.B/4/3 races (2 for Gr.4, 4 for Gr.3, 6 for Gr.B, great priorities), these cars are only really going to find use in WTC races.
Any "Kei Car" is going to have what the "Road Car" category has, plus 3 Kei Car races.
"Vision Gran Turismo" cars are all over the place, so I can't really say much, except that they're only given a bonus of 3 races on top of what they already have in their other categories.
So, all these unused categories, and WTC races make up the majority of what any given fast car can do. Of course, almost none of them actually fit into a "touring car" label, but let's ignore the name. Why is that? Well, giving a wide open race ensures that these cars have something to do without actually needing to make much of anything. It's perfect for the early stages of a game that is going to be pieced back together over a few years. More specific races come later, probably, if they feel like it.
Of course, this only adds to the feeling of a lack of direction, but who cares about that when there's still something to do? Even if you've already ran that race in 20 other cars.
So yes, I do believe we're going to get more WTC races, Polyphony loves them. They're the absolute lowest effort races to make. I mean, not that I believe there's much making going on at this point. We're still waiting on those Hypercar races Jimmy Fallon got to play 4 months ago. Someday, I'm sure.
They could, at any time, dump a ton of the missing races in. They made singleplayer races for GT Sport faster than they are being released in GT7. I know Polyphony isn't that incompetent suddenly. Maybe the problem is the single person figuring out the perfect amount of boost for the AI? Who knows?
But that's enough specifying why I've made my prediction. 9 races total, up to 2 menu books, Pikes Peak.
Please surprise me, PD. In a good way.
