If we had the pit save option and a 20m credit payout. I could see many people running a 24hr race concurrently with their regular play. Tick off a stint or two per day rather than grinding the same events. Happy in the knowledge you’ll have a big payout a few weeks down the line.
That wouldn't be a 24hr race then, it would be 24 hour long (or 48 1/2 hour long) races, which currently pay out more than 20mil.

LeMans 30min pays out over 800kCR with an EASY to achieve CRB

I'm hoping for the full 24 hour races of the past where you raced with the AI.

Agreed. Even though the 4 races were PD's wau of apeasing an angry community, they were a sucess. Players are spending hours and hours of play in those races. If PD were to nerf these races, there will likely be another massive backlash, and players will quit the game. So PD are probably scared of touching them
And they shouldn't touch them... they should touch the other races to be on the same level or at least make sure that races that are added through updates are on that level. Or at least somewhere close to it.

These aren’t physical challenges. The appeal is to say you’ve completed a 24hr event. Driven through the night, tackled different weather conditions, adapted your fuel/tyre strategy. Coming through and winning the event (let’s just assume the AI puts up a fight!).

20m is a substantial reward and you get the satisfaction of ticking the event off. I’d like to think they’d also give you a suitably appealing reward car.

The old Le Mans 24 Hours game offered up a full 24-hour option alongside a full 10-hours for Road Atlanta, & it included a save ability. IIRC during the times I attempted it, the Save Option would become available when you came into the pits after a stint so there were times I could race for 1-2 hours, & then save during the next pit stop.

If that 20 year old game that centered itself around the biggest 24 hour race in the world was keen enough to offer a save mid-race during a pit stop, I don't see why PD or any other developer can't nick the idea themself. It at least offers up a decent trade off so that players can save, but it's not whenever they want. Could at least open up a possibility of "early" pitting to save & quit actually affecting their race position/progress.
Yes, I remember the game (and it’s excellent Bohemian Like You soundtracked intro) well.

You’re absolutely right. It’s laziness, or more likely, total apathy from PD.

I don't think you understand what I am saying.

The 30 minutes Lemans races pays 500k cr+ or 800k cr+ with CRB (sorry, I don't remember the exact amount). Sardegna is about the same.

The 1 hour at spa is 1mil IIRC and 1.5 with CRB.

Those races provide rain, etc.

If a 24 hour race pays out 20mil, it would be more hassle for the same (or less) payout. It's simple math and logic.

There would need to be a HUGE payout if it's an all human race, or, if it's a co op race as it has been in the past, it would need to be much less, or it will be farmed like crazy.

That's how PD sid it as well. GT4 IIRC... I remember you pulled into the pits and the save option appeared.

And, as you mentioned, you had to think of Pit Strategy when you did it. If you saved after 1 lap, it wasn't very helpful to your cause.

But it's a fairly no win scenario for PD and this feature.

If the AI is good, and you are losing big, most people will quit unless there's a big payday for all positions. If the AI is bad and it's an easy win, it's a LONG boring grind for nothing, because there no bragging rights in beating bad AI. If they make it co-op, it gets too many complaints.

I for one loved the Bspec 24hr races. Waking up to see how your team did through the night was cool. Seeing the car caked with grime was a nice detail.... I hope that comes back.

Don't you know, in real life 24hr races, teams can just take a break in the middle of the race and come back to finish it a month later.
In real life 24h races, you have an entire team around you, and the drivers don't race the entirity of the 24h. You change drivers, and the team works in shifts. Plus, it's their job. On a console game, unless you have someone that drives for you so you can rest and vice-versa, you are alone doing the 24h race, with the console consistently on (and with a PS4 it sounds like a jet engine). One power outage in the 20th hour of the race, and all that goes to waste.

And I wonder what the prizes would be for completing the race. I'm just imagining PD being PD, and give players 2 million Cr. for 24h races.

The pit crew/mechanics don't shift. They are literally on the whole 24hrs. They sleep in the garages while the car is on their stint.

I'm going to say they'll add 3 cars, 1 track, and then 2 new GT Cafe events.

Cars:
- Suzuki Escudo Pikes Peak 1998
- Peugeot 208 T16 Pikes Peak 2016
- Suzuki Sx4 Monster Sport Pikes Peak 2011

Track:
- Pikes Peak Hillclimb, I'm going to say PD did this because they've been working on this track and it being so time consuming is why we haven't gotten anything new track-wise in the past 2 months.

Events:
- Hill-climb Events, making use of the new Pikes Peak cars added plus the hillclimb cars already in the game.
- Pikes Peak Hillclimb will become a race, a downhill layout the 2nd event, and the 3rd race is on Fishermans Ranch
- A new event for 90s GT1 cars.

If they sleep, then they are not "literally on" the whole 24hrs. The point is, no one is on the job 24h straight, as they can rest, eat, etc.

So in the end, it doesn't hurt to have in the game a save feature to allow players to tackle the 24h races however they can.

I agree with you having the save feature, don't get me wrong.

The mechanics are literally just getting mini cap naps because if the car has any sort of issue they have to be up and ready at a moments notice. So they are still on for the whole race.

I still don't get why anyone actually wants 24 hour races in GT. There is no real endurance in GT. Cars don't wear, there is no serious damage risk. There is no proper multi-class racing. You can pause at any time, and should, for your health. The challenge of real endurance racing is just not present, it's just reduced to driving for 24 hours.

Plus as I've said before, nobody in the gaming world is going to enter a 24 hour race expecting they'll finish 6th at best and have little chance of winning. Everyone will always make sure they enter a car guaranteed an easy win. You'll finish 10 laps ahead of the AI at the least.

So what is left of the race? There is no endurance challenge of looking after the car. There is no challenge to actually win it. There is no personal challenge of endurance. It's just driving for 24 hours.

Some people just want to chill out while listening to music or a podcast. Others will put in hours of practice for high stress online racing. Different ways to play the game.

Ideally I’d like the option to save progress with every pitstop. Allowing me to try out other areas of the game. Coming back to continue my progress as and when. If on completion you win a nice payout, cool car (Legendary Dealership), a nice trophy or other in-game bonus. All the better.

At the tail-end of GTS I was grinding various events to reach Level 50 and Platinum the game. Once that was achieved I had no inclination to play again as I waited for GT7.

If we had 24hr events for Le Mans, Daytona, Spa, Nurburgring. Being the completionist I am, I’d complete ‘em, by hook or by crook!

It's sad that people are more worried about what the payout for some hypothetical 24h race will be than the actual experience of the race itself. I get it, once a developer puts microtransactions into a game, they fundamentally ruin their relationship with the playerbase, and only have themselves to blame. But I still think it's a bit silly for people to obsess so much about credits.

Yup. Maybe more in a future patch, the R390 and TS020 1998 from GT2 could always come back.
The 911 GT1 ‘97 is already in the game. They just need to make a competition version. Although I suspect if PD have gone to the trouble of scanning the ‘97 road car (the only model year made in significant numbers). It’s the ‘98 Le Mans winner they’ll use for any race version.

On the flip side. If they ever introduced a Mercedes road version. It would probably be the ‘97 CLK-GTR. As this was also the only road model produced in significant numbers.

I suppose it can happen, but it's a bit iffy. PD doesn't usually model a road version of any race car. The R390 and GT-ONE were really just outliers in the past games.

I mean, if they did, we would've saw a Mclaren F1 GT and Mercedes-Benz CLK GTR Street Version a long time ago.

It really is time PD implemented the sell your cars option. I’m not even concerned about earning credits. I just want to streamline & organise my garage. Hopefully they also give us the option to have multiple garages.

It does seem a track is coming. If I had to guess I’d say Apricot Hill or Watkins Glen. If it’s the track for the Toyota series it’s probably a real world track.
Definitely not Apricot Hill. If you look at the layout of Kyoto / Yamagiwa you'll realize that it's partially built out of sections of the former Apricot Hill Layout, combined differently. Which they have done quite nicely, in my humble opinion.

Apologies if this has already been stated before.

I agree, but a lot of this game feels like it's built around FOMO mechanics that, intentionally or not, push people to that kind of mindset. The feeling of "X car is coming up in the Legendary Dealer soon, and I don't have enough money for it, I need to use time efficiently so I don't miss it before it's gone for 2 or 3 months" drives a lot of the sentiment, I think

The current 1 hr race is already basically a condensed "24hr race" with day/night transitions. PD sure didn't allow us to save our progress (same with all the 1 hr endurance missions). A blip in the 58th minute and all your time went to waste. I don't see why they would introduce such a convenience feature given the current design of the game. It'd be nice to have, sure, but I just don't see PD giving it any priority when there's plenty more incorrect wheel colours to fix in race thumbnails.

If PD weren't so stingy with credits, people wouldn't be so obsessed. If the 24hr race pays you less than doing 24 1hr races (like how the 1 hr Spa race pays less than doing 2 back to back Le Mans 30 mins races), what's the point? Not to mention you can't bank any of the potential payout until you finish the race, by which point the $20mil car you were hoping to buy would have already come and gone from the legend dealer.

I don’t play the game to win credits. I play to enjoy myself & complete events. I’ve never been desperate enough to buy a car as soon as it appears. Not that I have an interest in any 20m credit car other than the McLaren F1.

I haven’t knowingly had an issue in GT7. But in GTS, if you had an internet glitch, you could complete the race. And if internet was restored by the time you exit, you’d get your rewards.

To say that you 'don't play to win credits' when the vast majority of the tuning and customization takes credits (and a lot, in the case of the former) is just absolutely blinkered to me.

Because even if you play just casually, eventually you acquire credits. If I want to go TT a course for tuning, I’ve started doing short custom races or just going to the circuit and doing arcade races. An hour of that earns me more than enough to upgrade whichever car I happen to be testing/tuning at the time. I’ll replay a lot of the longer PP events, just to do them in different cars. Hell, I eventually got to 20 million credits several times on each of my 3 accounts just doing online races for peanuts.

And it may come as a surprise to you, but A LOT of people just like going to whichever circuit and enjoying the driving experience. I have literally spent hours driving various cars around the ring working on my heel-toe. Cockpit view with a manual transmission is beyond fun in GT7!!

That’s a another problem. The AI are way to easy in arcade and custom. The slow down for no reason. Where is the fun to always win easily ?

After acquiring the Fina F1, I’ve gone back through all the WTC races. From the 10 laps at Laguna Seca through the Championship races. I don’t have all the cars(309/430), because I don’t want all the cars(same as I’ve done in pretty much any racing game I play). Guess I’m more at ease to use cars I like, than cars that have to win.

Thats the thing. We really only need a few cars as in GT Sport: Gr.1/2/3/4 and whatever road cars for PP races. Besides, most of the 606 cars I bought, are for replicating race series, not for trying to collect every car. Even though I have been grinding, many of my hours have been tuning, setting up races and redoing other races, than the big payout events.

While I agree that it is a problem how slow the AI is in arcade/custom races… and I wish they could all be 🌶-enabled, the only reason I do those types of races is to earn some credits while I test/tune. Oftentimes I actually lose, because I’m driving a significantly slower car than the field.
Eventually when I’m satisfied with my garage, I’ll just go back to normal TT sessions. But by that time, I’ll be doing sport mode 90% if the time racing for peanuts
