I just purchased my copy of GT Sport, I'm not sure if I am the first
to say this but wow, what a disappointment, I searched for twenty
minutes in the game to find where I can upgrade my car, only to find
out it was not included. I would have thought after five years in the
making they would have included something that has been in the game
since I started playing years ago but that is not the case. It's a shame
because the rest of the game is great, the graphics on my 4k HDR tv
are breathtaking, I will be selling my copy on eBay.

It's kinda in the game, but in a very limited capacity. You can upgrade your car's maximum and minimum weight and power via mileage points in the setup menu, but that's about it.

Everyone knows this isn't the "old" Gran Turismo, and its been said time and time again, don't go into GT Sport expecting GT7. The meat and potatoes is very much in the racing - rather than installing massive turbos on a MK1 Golf so you can blitz a 458. For what they've done the racing is pretty darn enjoyable.

Some tweaks and some new tracks over the course of 2018 and its just going to just get better for all of us.

Sorry you didn't enjoy it. I guess you can still go buy Forza 7 (which has customisation), or even GT6 which still holds up quite well.

Yeah you’re the first to say any of this. You should really ask the mods to sticky this post. Hell they should even post it on the News Feed! I’d suggest getting ahold of one them so they can get everything you’ve written about out to the masses! People deserve to know these things before buying the game, else they be as disappointed as you were. If only there were reviews, posts, forum threads detailing what this game is. I mean, after 3 months since the release you would think more than just you would have said something by now. I mean we must live in the dark ages!

It seems a few need a reminder of the AUP

"You will not behave in an abusive and/or hateful manner, and will not harass, threaten, nor attack any individual or any group."

That includes passive aggressive digs!

Some seem to be forgetting that Kaz himself said that GTS could be considered to be GT7 and that not only would it not be missing any features from past GT titles, but would actually have more!

As for mocking people for wanting upgrades? Take a look in the mirror, given that every past GT title has featured them!

Which I guess is fair, but this isn't launch week, before anyone's had a hands on... this is some three months after launch. After every review has come out and this message board is full of people in a similar position.

I don't know how you could come across Kaz's comments and then miss every review or hands on/preview of the game... I follow this site and GT news and have done for a while and him saying that about GT:Sport was something I missed

Not everyone follows THIS site. We knew what GTS was about. That doesn't mean everyone else does. For many people, you see the words Gran Turismo, and you expect it to deliver in a certain way. When it doesn't you get a division between the players.

Some defend the game and attack anyone who makes a thread like this. Others accept that it's not for them anymore. I bought GTS for £25 and I don't feel I've got my money's worth.

I don't think you'll get much for gts on ebay or anywhere else right now for that matter, better off sealing it up in a vacuumed bag and saving it for a rainy day.

No I agree, and that was kind of my point. Kaz says a lot of mad ****, but you wouldn't know that if you didn't follow the game or the games press (not just this site). But if you did see him say that about GT:Sport, then it'd be nearly impossible to miss everything else that's been said about the game.

In regards to this thread and the OP, his post makes zero sense to me.
How can the game be great and have breathtaking graphics... and then be worth loosing money over? Ok so it's not what he expected or hoped... but given that he thinks the rest of the game is great... it's probably better to stick around, get you're monies worth and then see if they patch in the features you want...

I read that new younger players wont have a clue about porting polishing etc so simple sliders were added instead.
I don't understand the fuss whether I click on a few icons or slide a bar to max power, min weight. Most of the serious lobbies have BOP enabled anyway so those 'upgrades' aren't in effect.

As for adding spoilers etc. yes its nice to make your car look different to 2% of the other peoples cars that didn't choose the same spoiler as you, but the livery editor means you can make your car 100% unique from every other car.
Just drive GT3 cars which have spoilers already.

If you just want to mess about with the car rather than enjoy racing, there are plenty you can do in the game with making liveries and photos.

The great feature is the graphics. That is not gameplay. I waited until GT League came out and then realised they'd make the exact same mistake they made in GT6. I haven't played the game in over a week now. I very much doubt I'll play it again, although I suspect I'll load it after each patch to see what's what.

Aside from the fact the OP has been a member since 2011, you don't have to visit GTP to be able to type "should I buy GT Sport" into Google. The first page of hits I get when I do this does not include GT Planet, but does include mainstream media reviews and links to Amazon reviews. Would the OP have know that the upgrade process was different this time around, maybe, maybe not... is the only value in the game for him having to select individual parts to upgrade (rather than using the mileage point system), perhaps it is... However, the game being too small, or too unlike previous installments is a valid criticism, however the criticism being valid does not excuse the purchaser from responsibility for researching and understanding their purchase.

Indeed its doesn't.

However it doesn't then provide a mandate for some members to ignore the AUP and resort to passive aggressive digs and insults.

Games have to move on you know. It cant stay stuck in the past using boring old circuits like Trial Mountain and a repetitive structured tuning system that didn't even remove the interior upon stage 3 weight reduction. This is a radical rethink of a tired old format that for once concentrates on racing, not collecting and tuning. I for one welcome it.

I hadn't even contemplated the removing interior weight reduction + PSVR would make for a much slower car modelling time frame. Would be interesting to see in PSVR though. Maybe its something that could come back for PS5.

Newer doesn’t always equal better either. I’ll take boring old Trial Mountain over asinine circuits like Tokyo Expressway any day of the week. At least the former is well-designed.
