forgive me its been a good long while since I've posted(GT5 and TT have been taking up my time), so should karting stay or go?

Personally I thought it was awesome addition to GT and I for one hope they keep it as a franchise staple going forward.

I thought it was pretty underutilised in GT5, same as rally. It should've just been a regular A-Spec event. I think there is a place for it, only if they use it properly.

Same as rally - while there was actual stages in GT5, it still felt like a very underwhelming experience.

This.

I love karting online, both on tacks in game and course created tracks, definitely stay.

The slipstream effect will hopefully be better though its not so bad since you can reduce the effect online.

Shifter karts would be cool, but what karting in GT really needs is just more events, some championships maybe, against some good AI drivers, a karting championship would be a really exciting event.

Low boost karting events are a great way to relax and have fun. GT doesnt have to be serious, sometimes you need a bit of arcade.

It's pretty fun to drive around Spa or something with karts, but that's just once. There are not many small and interesting tracks for karts. The course creator tracks get old fast.

This. Placing events that could and should have been championships just as the PD fictives, NASCAR, Formula GT etc. in a place no-one cares about.. No wonder people can't drive karts (or real rally for that sake, to stay on the same track as the quoted post) online. It did feel like "We have some karts and the WRC license.. But we didn't really care to make any use of them as we were busy developing Cape Ring" 👎

My issue is that, after karting for maybe eight hours on Gran Turismo, you become comfortably able to just leave the pack behind and challenge yourself to set quicker lap times.

Nearly every problem with Gran Turismo not being exciting and 'fun' enough would be half solved with improved AI.

I think Karting should stay.

In GT5 it only had it's own little Special Event. This didn't express enough how important Karting is in motorsport and that it's the stepping stones for most drivers. It would obviously need improved, as with a lot of things. If there was such a thing as it's own series, that would be a big step forward.

Karting has so many different skill levels and leagues that could be implemented into the game to make a worthwhile series to compete in. Currently, you can only race in Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced - but there isn't any difference in them anyway, just the prize money.

The progression should be made more difficult and the challenges that follow. Karting could be a great thing if it's managed right. So, I think it should stay. Plus it gives us something else to do.

I absolutely hated the karting in GT5, so I don't care either way. If many people liked it, keep it I guess, I won't be using them again anyway.

They can certainly drop it as far as I'm concerned. I went through the karting events, won them all and never touched that stuff again.

Karting was some of the best stuff in GT5, only the drafting ruined it.
People who don't like it, most likely never had an online race at Cote d'Azur with a full grid, so much fun.

EDIT: A proper shifter Kart would be a nice addition.

Yes, I would like to see the karting part expanded e.g. as part of the A-spec.

It was a lot of fun going round Eiger Nordwand with a grid of karts in online races.

+1 for the shifter kart!

Karting is awesome in GT5 and for many months it was what kept bringing me back to the game :)

Also it would be cool to have some real life kart tracks, maybe Genk in Belgium, PF International in the UK and some Italian tracks.

One thing the do need to make better is how the karts react with bumps though, I think it isn't as bad now as it was when GT5 first came out but snap oversteer is never nice.

Stay. Expand it (MOAR EVENTS), improve it (reduce the slipstream) and maybe give us another Kart track like the one at the Nurburgring.

They already took the time to make the models and a few tracks, so dropping them would be pointless.

Hopefully they make them more connected to whatever "career mode" they decide upon.

It should go. Again PD tries to add to many things and loses focus. Nascar, kart's should go. If you cannot add something to the game the way it should be don't add it at all.

It should be kept. It's fun racing Karts on non kart tracks, and since the course maker is being highly upgraded, by all means keep it PD. :D
