Karting: Stay or Go?

It should go. Again PD tries to add to many things and loses focus. Nascar, kart's should go. If you cannot add something to the game the way it should be don't add it at all.

But they're already modelled so why waste the time that's already misspent according to you even more when adding them won't take away anything?
I really don't get that logic (not just for karts but for some apparantly controversial Premium cars as well), even if they are still gonna be useless from an A-Spec perspective, many (including me) had tons of fun racing them online which is all the reason for including cars (and karts) I need.

But as mentioned before, they were initially meant for GT6 all along (but were added to GT5 after a Sony exec unwittingly spilled the beans) so they might have more uses this time around.

I do get most of the criticism regarding the physics and slipstream effects though, and I did enjoy them more in the beginning before the endless physics updates made them more tame and far less exhilarating to drive.
Although the racing became more enjoyable as a result, before it was more a case of who spun the least.
It might be a tricky balancing act to get a bit of both and although I doubt we'll be getting them, I too would love shifter versions as well.

And if they are, why not make them superkarts whilst they're at it? ;)

If it stays, I'd love to try the 4-hour karting endurance at Silverstone that was in GT Academy!

Agreed, that looked like quite the blast for the drivers.

Off-topic: I've never driven a competitive Go-Kart like the ones in GT5. Was the acceleration for the Karts realistic? They seemed to accelerate...so slowly. I'm guessing it's got something to do with the 1-Speed Gearbox?

Karting is a lot of fun, against other humans, but the drafting and even speed cap on the karts does ruin it

Stay! The groundwork has already been implemented, Also it would be a waste of Kart Space which is a really fun track!

No it's not even close. I used to race 100CC direct drive karts. No clutch, bump start, 17,500 rpm, about 22-27 hp. It pulled like a freight train even out of the slowest corners. Until you got used to it your head would snap back every time you hit the throttle.

I made some shifter karts when hybriding was all the rage and I can tell you they were fantastic. GT5 karts with nothing added but a gearbox look like this:

The 200 km/h was achieved with a 44 hp kart, built to emulate true life 125CC shifter kart specs. And yes, they are that fast.

I love Karting in real life and in the game. It would be nice if the speed cap for my local karting is a big higher, but it is fun nonetheless. Even in GT5, I enjoyed it. If GT6 comes with a "career mode," I would love it to start with mandatory karting events to earn a license.

Johnnypenso I applaud you sir! (and your boy Ridox)

******** sweetness! That shifter cart is TOP-RANKING. Beautiful.

I can't even tell you how much fun it was:sly::):sly:. I did nothing but drive shifter karts and make custom kart tracks for a week straight and never stopped smiling:):). We were able to adjust the BB and 10-6 seemed to give more stable corner entry and better braking than the standard 5-5. Shifter karts do come with front brakes so it was entirely realistic. Also fooled around with tire compounds and found that they were much better on CS to SM tires. The SS is just too much grip.

Realistic lap times too. I had one of the 125's lapping Tsukuba in 57 seconds then found a video of Japanese Superkart Series and I timed the onboard camera lap and it was also 57 seconds.

There is so much potential there for karts it's ridiculous. And all it took was 5 minutes to build!!!

I thought it was one of the (few) surprising, fun things in 5 and even wish it was used more (like a lot of the ideas on 5). I say keep it. Maybe even expand and make a career progression of it, something akin to how the rally section was once done.

Adding onto this, they seemed so slow in GT5 because the game (much like GT4 before it) had major problems with engine inertia for very small engines. It affects not just the karts, but also things like the 60's Kei cars and the Caterham. Presumably, PD will focus on fixing that issue with GT6's engine when one of the cars they are drawing attention to right now to show off the new physics engine is the bike-engined LCC Rocket.

Karting has to stay for GT6 as from what Im told they were originally intended for GT6 anyway.

Beleive it or not thats the only reason I got GT5 was for the karting.

If theyre not in GT6 then I know I wont be wasting my money for it.

We do have an active karting community on GT5 and people like me who all they do is race karts.

The developers do have a great opportunity to improve the karts as well as adding shifter karts and a proper career or championship for them.

The track editor was a big disappointment as you didnt have the option to add a pit lane in a lot of the tracks like tokyo bay for example.

I liked making karting tracks but they were no use for endurance racing cos you didnt have that pit stop strategy element.

So karts must stay and the track editor needs to be alot more customisable.

Well, I've had many amazing races in karts.

It does however raise a point, in GT5, you get some karting events offline. You need to be online to have use for the Ferrari F1 cars. The better question isn't wether Karts should go, or indeed any car, but should they have more events?

I found racing a kart to be one of the most fun and challenging things in GT5 and hope they return, with the updates everyone has mentioned. I've tried a hundred times to do a 3 lap of the 'Ring race in a kart... I never make it.

waste of time. just like anything associated with nascar
Utter nonsense - both are extremely enjoyable with the right participants and lobby settings.
