Yeah, is the 125 a shifter? or just a single speed like a Rotax, Leopard, or a Vortex. The GT5 DLC 125cc kart that is. Im running 100cc Yamaha right now, but if I can afford Rotax by the Gatorz in January, thats what im going to do.

I was just racing against them, and that's what it is! Lol I want one! Even has a mychron 4 on the steering wheel

On gt5 it's rotax max fr125 senior, with an alfano pro v2 on the steering wheel. Pretty much the same as my kart (accept mines a junior rotax).

nitrorocks
It wont let me watch! We dont run rain here. lol Arizona

Had it set to private, it's public now.
Try again. ;)
:dunce:

The amount of water we got in one day was probably enough to fill the grand canyon.
I'll have to post that video. lol

Racing in the rain is good fun. What's not so fun is being eternally wet and freezing cold, constantly having to clean your kart, swapping tyres constantly when it dries up and then rains again, etc.

The actual driving is lots of fun though.

It was a cold thunderstorm, just came by right when we unloaded the karts. Then the track was flooded with little rivers going across

Indeed.
Looks like I might get some snow and ice experience this weekend. :embarrassed:

That sucks. Arizona we will race and practice in 110 degree weather, then nice weather in winter and spring. Sometimes even fall. We can drive all year around. :)

Thats why we have decided not to race this winter (apart from the fact we have also run out of money). ;)

We have just bought a secondhand 2009 engine (as the post 09 engines are considerably faster), spent yesterday fitting it to the kart and then starting it up.

So if anyone is interested in our 2004 engine then please message me. Untill the 09's came along it was a good engine.

Getting into karting, probably going to buy one this spring. I'm thinking of running Animal karts. Looks like fun. It's cool GTP has a little karting section :D

Similar to those.

2009 Rotax?

Yeah, Basically, rotax started building max engines in 1999, and they were all pretty equal up untill 2004 when for some reason some 04 engines were slightly quicker, they changed to more modern machines in 2005 so the engines were all the same performance (just below that of the good 04's). Up untill 2009 people were paying about £15,000 for a good 2004 engine, (ours is a decent 04 engine, but the guy we bought it off didn't know it was good so we got it cheap ;) )

But then in 2009 to iradicate the problem of people paying this amount of money for 04 engines they changed the way they manafactured them again, these engines were now all consistently about 0.5 secs faster than a good 04. :( . this meant everyone with a pre 09 engines was pretty much stuffed. Since our engine was a decent 04 it wasn't as far off the pace as others, however now pretty much everyone else is on post 09 engines then we needed to make the change too since we were loosing so much time.

By any chance how expensive are rotax engines over in the us of a. Since I could sell you my 04 (its still a good engine if you are just getting into karting), for £750 plus postage. It won't come with a carburetor though as someone has already bought that.

They are $3,200 usd here at on of my local shops for a 2011 JR Max £15,000? That like $18,000-$20,000 usd!!!!

Yep, that is how much people were prepared to pay for them back in 2006/7 before the recession. People spend ridiculous amounts of money, I have seen this year an engine go for £7,000.

At that price they are pretty much the same as the UK so thats probably a better option to buy new than buying mine ;) .

Also to add some colour to this thread here are some pics of me racing last month.

Have you won anything? I'll add you after school

I have had a couple of podiums, and in early 2010 when I started racing won a couple of novice trophies.

However with people spending much more money than we do its difficult to be consistently at the front. We try out best on our limited budget, so getting trophies requires abit of luck aswell. We are always looking to do better, but we are happy with being in the midfield, as we know we don't have the budget to be at the front.

Good luck with getting a kart, if you see any you are interested in on the web then message me with a link or post it here, I don't want you spending tonnes of money and getting something that has got hidden problems.

I have a kart lol, it was the same with my offroad kart racing. I won a. Championship and 9 victories, but people cam with more money. I can't post a picture because I'm on mobile

Ah, so you have a kart already, so your just looking for an engine.

I have seen some pics an vids of offroad karting it looks awesome, well done on the the championship win.

Post some pics as soon as you can, What chassis do you have??

EBK, and I have a 2009 Intrepid with a 100cc Yamaha KT100

Ah nice, I guess thats the intrepid cruiser. I was looking at getting one of them and probably would have if it hadn't rendered all my previous OTK spares useless.
