I have a bad feeling he might not cover this and here’s why.

The other day I was watching Griffin Gaming stream and I sent him a superchat on why YongYea won’t cover the controversy surrounding GT7. Griffin Gaming responded and said it’s because he’s currently under contract with Sony to provide voice acting for an upcoming game based on Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure. In case you don’t know, for a while, one of YongYea’s dream goals is to become a voice actor. I understand the hustle here and I appreciate him trying to accomplish his goals but the reason why everyone subscribes to him is for his takes on the scummy practices happening in the gaming industry by companies like EA and Ubisoft. I get you want to be a voice actor but you could’ve try achieving it without having to work with a company who supports releasing triple a $70 games with MTXs.

Makes me wonder, does this guy really believe in what he’s fighting against or is he some kind of false prophet? 🤔
He's just trying to make money like everybody else.

After more time, I've changed my mind and I'm not happy with Kaz's message. My problem is that he said he wants people to be able to enjoy LOTS of cars and races without microtransactions. Not all of them, or even most of them, lots of them. How many is lots? I have 100 cars already, most of them of little interest to me, is that lots of cars for me to enjoy?

Does anyone know the User score on Metacritic prior to the server issue?

It’s down to 2.5 now and I’m guessing will probably fall further.

Users are calling out these issues…

1. Requiring an online connection for single-player seems to top the list
2. The brutal new game economy
3. The staleness of starting at the back of the grid and “chasing the rabbit“

It was 6.5 when I looked at it around 10am Eastern on the 17th (day servers were down)
By the time someone posted a screenshot on one of these threads a few hours later it was is the low 5's.

Here's where it was on the 9th

So a 6.6. Which actually shows how many people were somewhat dissatisfied with the lacking content and other issues even prior to the server issue and credit nerfs. That's about what I'd have given the game myself at that point.

Just saw the funniest thing: one of Codemasters' community managers attempting to defend/deflect by saying people are exclusively moaning about the downtime . . . someone maybe tell them it's ok to objectively critique a company instead of blindly towing the industry line?

FH5 is fun as I have it as well. I haven’t played since launch, though, as it doesn’t grab me the way Gran Turismo does. Even with the issues, I look forward to playing GT7 way more. But I can’t pretend to be excited that we have to now accept incomplete games after paying full price up front. That I don’t like at all.
Its the first Forza game I played and I enjoyed it. The festival background could do with totally disappearing, but its a good game with **** load of content.

Sure, not as simmy and doesn;t have the classic GT feel, but I wouldn;t say its far off, in terms of how people into driving games would get into it (unless really into physics I guess).

I also like the structure of GT more, in terms of it being completely race focused.

Will be interesting to see what FM8 will be like, which should arrive later this year. Pretty sure there'll be less 'pretentiousness' around 'car rarity' and the 'interesting' economy in GT.

Fortnite changed the way Sony think...they dont want to base a games success on units sold..its all about the extra money spent online.... if they dont make their target for on line extra payments...the prize money will go down again....profit over product....And i dont think Kaz has a say in this.

That doesn’t make sense because they’re still putting out single player focused games if you exclude GT7 because GT7 was more like an online game disguised as a single player game.

My thoughts on Kaz's apology

Mate, you hit the nail on the head.It looked like a corporate response to appease people who were pissed off,no other reason to reduce payouts except to push MTX.As for not playing the same event to earn credits, possibly most stupid comment ever.
I did hope,in my heart of hearts, thay we would have been gifted some credits by way of a sorry, much like we were offered a couple of games when the psn went down a couple of years ago.I cant remember what games they were now but at the time i thought they were,to me anyway, crap but it was a gesture.👍

A real fan of the franchise would know when PD are in the wrong and are willing to call them out in hopes of them changing the game for the goodwill of the fans.
Nope. You don't even have to be a fan to do that, and not sharing the opinion that you even need to, doesn't remove your 'fan' status.

Keep feeding that fandom toxicity though, people sure do love that.

How am I adding fuel to the toxic fans? I simply said I wasn’t trying to be hostile and was providing a more tamer call out to the people defending this because Microtransactions are bad and it’s even worse when you consider the fact that there are games rated E for everyone like Madden and NBA 2K where there’s loot boxes and there’s kids spending over $1000 in loot boxes gambling away their parents money just to get the best players in the game. It’s scummy and needs to be stopped and anyone defending this deserves to be criticized.

Also of course you don’t need to be a fan to criticize something. Your point?

Some of us actually want to race.
And i respect that...

Can you go into more details? What track and what race parameters? Custom race payouts seem dire.
Do this, Tokyo Expressway - Custom race - Central Counterclockwise - Endurance - Time limit 60 minutes (or more or less) - Number of cars 2 - Rival Selection Select by Car Category - Car Category Gr. 1 - Rivals Difficulty Professional Level - Start Race

Car i use is Mazda Demio XD Touring '15 because i tried with lower PP cars and payout won't work at the end of the race, it just says 0 credits earned...

This way you can earn 96,940 credits an hour and if it's a clean race, which in most cases are you can earn 145,410 credits, by NOT PLAYING the game.... And works 100% all of the time, and no pit-stop problems...
And, yes, clean race really can be done, as clean race is done by you not hit anyone, but if AI hits you it's ok.
And here are some other payouts if you want more free hours ..

1 hour - 96,940 (clean race 145,410) (i think it's best time to earn credits ratio)
1,5 hours - 129,254 (clean race 193,881)
2 hours - 145,411 (clean race 217,500)
3 hours - 161,568 (clean race 242,352)
4 hours - 149,646 (clean race 254,469)

And to be honest, i'm not sure this is the best we can get, but this is the one i know it works 100 % so, better something than nothing.

145k in 60 minutes? That’s a waste of time. Might as well just keep grinding Fisherman’s Ranch instead.

So what, are PD supposed to be psychologists now?
Yes. Because that is literally 100% the reason they were included in the game. They know that microtransactions work. They know how microtransactions work. Every developer/publisher in the industry does at this point. It's published information, both on the videogame side as well as the side of mental health.

No one is asking Kaz to dress in a white suit, talk into a microphone and slap people while yelling "car culture" to cure them of their mental health issues; no matter how many idiot true fan sycophants he would get to sign up to pay him for the seminar. But actively including microtransactions, including multiple elements in the game design that deliberately induce FOMO, then actively revising his game after the fact to make them even worse (a game where, due to being always online, you're always beholden to whatever PD's whims are)? That's about as far away from helping people as you can possibly get short of lootboxes, no matter how much he talks out of his ass about how he doesn't want people to have to resort to them.

You're right, waste of time, but i hope that you get that this is earning credits by NOT PLAYING the game, and for people who just don't have free 10 hour a day for playing games this is by far best way for making credits...
My PS4 already sounds like a jet engine when running GT7 so I don’t think it be a good idea to afk grind in the game.

Even in GT3 the rubber band trick wasn't the fastest. The real goal, as outlined above, was so you could go do something else in the meantime. It's not ideal, but it's much less mind numbing.

It's why any claims that "the grind isn't any worse than it was in the past" are nonsense simply because two previous GT games had B-Spec included at launch.

Exactly. But cognitive dissonance when it comes to what was present in the past of the series, and what nostalgia makes people think was in the games, is the modus operandi of being a GT fan by this point.

I wonder at what point the hardcore, sycophant fans of the series have to eventually lay the blame on Polyphony and specifically Kaz? Or is it going to be constant buck passing to whoever the higher ranking person to Kaz is?
They're not going to lay the blame on anyone for anything, it seems they instead prefer to deny that the game has any issues whatsoever. To them, the real problem seems to be that there are people who don't think that this obviously flawed game is flawless.

Previous GT games also had plenty of game to play. So it was generally many more hours before the inevitable grind.

Spot on. His apology was hollow nonsense.

It's because they want their purchased to feel justified, so they'll deflecting any and all criticism.

Just lower the cost of cars. It's that simple.

This is the truest statement that would ease a lot of the issue - some of the prices are cloud cuckoo land. 100k credits for an S2000, 78k was it for a Trans Am. That's mental, especially as they're well used examples with over 30,000 miles on the clock.
