Well I bought it on cdkeys for £14.99 and have just played through the very engaging intro. Quick look through the cars shows incredible diversity. Any idea what bit is turned off?
Game is just EOL, you can't buy it anymore but everything else is OK. It's the main Motorsport game for MS for now.

THIS!! Its not a damn MMO like "The Crew" this is just about Sony holding all the power over its customers.
Thank you very much friend, I finally found someone who thinks the same and that this game does not require Always online, even for the campaign and especially to save your progress, but as there are many people who defend this and if you criticize it they call you a hater...

It feels like PD even made it so you randomly don't get a 'clean' race bonus too.. 😡 I swear I've never thought I'd see the day where it felt like PD is punishing me for trying to accumulate credits in their game. This is insane. I just want to get the dang '54 Ferrari before it disappears and I'm not paying real money for it, Kaz! UGH! My desire to keep playing is draining fast. This is so disappointing.

Metacritic is waiting for your opinion. ;)

LOL, one more thing.

No, a game is not a long term investment. When I go to the theater they don't tell me check back in 4-6 months, maybe we can actually put on a show then.

Here is my plan: I'm installing GT Sport as I write this, maybe that is actually finished by now. I have not seen it since launch, but some say it now has more content than GT7.
It has much much more content than GT7, although (I’ve said this elsewhere) the AI in career mode is absolutely awful. They are stupidly slow, it offers ZERO challenge.

But there is a solution - custom races.

Grid starts.
AI difficulty set to professional.
Flags and rules on.
Long races.
Class specific.
Big payouts.

It’s honestly a joy. An absolute joy.

Where does this stipulation come from that if a car leaves the Legends dealership, it will never come back? You're saying that there's only one chance to ever get it? That doesn't sound right.

Guess its more to do with how long you'll have to wait if you want to get it again. I'll keep this in mind because I didn't buy an F40 in time and I do not know when I'll have the chance to buy it again. Could be literal months for all I know.

I can’t understand the mentality of some of these people defending the decisions that PD is making. Are they even fans of Gran Turismo? I don’t want to get hostile or anything because we don’t need more people issue death threats at each other over a video game but these people sound like they shouldn’t even be handed a Gran Turismo game. If this game gets worse or if GT Sport’s and GT7’s servers shut down and becomes unplayable, don’t come back here and complain because at the end of the day you were defending these anti-consumer practices that no one asked for.

The real fans who were originally hyped for this game were expecting it to be more like classic Gran Turismo games like we were promised. But instead, what we got was Gran Turismo Ultimate Team Edition. Not Gran Turismo 7 The Real Driving Simulator.

Gaming bolt (over 1 million subs) picked up the news! Hopefully other big news outlets pick up on the news as well. Unacceptable behaviour like this from Sony and PD MUST BE POINTED OUT!

Since yesterday I got Grind Turismo 7 - The real farming simulator

Totally agree. And I might add that in Custom Races, you can race against a field of your own cars, with their own upgrades and liveries in any mixture of PPs you like. You have complete control. (Until the connection to the server fails).

ReviewTechUSA has made about 3 videos on this controversy. Still haven’t seen YongYea or Angry Joe talked about it yet.

I already replied to YongYea’s latest video that he should have a look at this. Stuff like this is right up his ally :

  • servers down for more than a day for an online only singleplayer focussed game
  • MTX introduced right after the review period and they are not cheap
  • in-game economy (rewards) nerfed into the ground when it was already bad
  • unable to sell cars to make matters worse
  • high upgrade costs for each car to make matters worse
  • rotating Legends Cars to push people with FOMO more towards MTX

YongYea will have a field day if he finds out about all the crap that’s been going on

Also I think it's time to recognise that Kaz himself is actually a fairly middling developer who is living off past glories
100% this. What he did with GT1 and GT3 in particular was incredible, and the early games in the franchise sold so well that it made PS a legit contender to Nintendo at the time. GT1 is the best-selling game on PS1 and that's why Kaz has been on the board of Sony/Playstation; they might have died out after PS1 without the immense boost GT1/2 gave to that first console.

Not only that it influenced game genres far outside of racing games and revolutionized the gaming space. But that was all in the 90's and early 00's. Now there are smaller studios with less money that are modeling driving physics BETTER than PD. He keeps talking about how he wants to make GT driving "more real than reality" but he couldn't even catch ACC in GT7. Don't get me wrong, as a "game" I prefer GT7's physics. It's more fun for a "car rpg" than having ultra-hard hardcore simulation like iRacing, et al.
But he's far from revolutionizing anything these days. This latest entry has the potential to be a great old-school style GT title, if only PD would let it reach that potential, but it's not breaking any new ground. Hell, we essentially have the same cars and tracks from Sport with a few added here/there locked in the UCD/Legend.

So yeah, coasting on past glories seems to be the only thing he cares to do these days, and at the end of the day that's fine. I love old GT and the promise of that is what brought me back to the series, but at least make this game as fun as GT2/3/4/5, and to do that we need CONTENT and fair payouts to enjoy the cars on offer.

This is the discussion thread for an article on GTPlanet:

Kazunori Yamauchi Responds to Gran Turismo 7 Fan Outrage

Following one of the most difficult days in the 25-year history of Gran Turismo, series founder Kazunori Yamauchi has released a statement to fans regarding the future of Gran Turismo 7 — just two weeks into the title’s life...
I'm just so disappointed with always online BS and now the reduction in credits for races, obviously microtransactions are what the game is all about. At this point it's not worth the little time I have to play a game that is not that much fun anymore. The car sounds still suck (decades later), the non stop clicking buttons and waiting to get anywhere in the menus is just sad.
Yet another game joining the pile of microtransaction crap released in the last 5 years. I think I'm done with gaming, I was considering a PS 5 but this just killed that. Anyway just my thoughts, if you enjoy the game, have fun with it.

I have a bad feeling he might not cover this and here’s why.

The other day I was watching Griffin Gaming stream and I sent him a superchat on why YongYea won’t cover the controversy surrounding GT7. Griffin Gaming responded and said it’s because he’s currently under contract with Sony to provide voice acting for an upcoming game based on Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure. In case you don’t know, for a while, one of YongYea’s dream goals is to become a voice actor. I understand the hustle here and I appreciate him trying to accomplish his goals but the reason why everyone subscribes to him is for his takes on the scummy practices happening in the gaming industry by companies like EA and Ubisoft. I get you want to be a voice actor but you could’ve try achieving it without having to work with a company who supports releasing triple a $70 games with MTXs.

Makes me wonder, does this guy really believe in what he’s fighting against or is he some kind of false prophet? 🤔

Or certain other sim-influencers who are clearly angling for a job...
I straight-up asked Super GT if he would either make a video about the situation or at the very least, update his review to warn people that have not yet bought the game. I know he read the comment as it was one of the most liked comments under his vid, but when he went through and favorited a bunch of other comments he skipped mine (and others) asking him to use his platform to signal-boost the issues. Doesn't mean he won't, but I'll be shocked if he does anything
