Killed for over some grass? 15 year old shot dead...

If you repeatedly walk on it day after day you kill it and you create patches in the lawn, if your really trying to look after your lawn you don't want people walking on it, besides that it's still trespassing. The kid shouldn't have been walking on his lawn, but as has been said many times, the action the man took was completely unjustified and unforgivable. He should have spoken to the kid's parents and the police more. I don't think he told the kid's parents once. The guy's just got an evil streak, he's not a nut because he was clam and controlled according to his own statements which rules out mental illness straight away.

A nut is generally a referrence to somone who's mentally unstable, granted it's not a technicalt term, but this guy was in full control of himself and that rules out any mental illness I can think of. You don't have to be crazy to be evil.

Yes, he did fire two shots. From a .410 bore. (That's like a .44 special loaded with small lead shot.)
If it had been a 12 ga. or a 20 ga. 2 shots would definitely been overkill. But a .410 is designed to shoot birds, and then they have to be fairly close. The pellets in a .410 are like grains of sand. The biggest shot in a .410 is snake shot, which has like 10 pellets of .177 cal.
AS a lot of .410's are single-shot, it becomes murder when he breaks open the action to re-load. If it was a double gun, he could have jerked both triggers at once. (not saying I agree. Just being the "devil's advocate".)
In the light of "make my day" laws in certain states the old booger may get off. I hope not.
I don't truly believe that the old man can prove he was in any true danger. If not then even the "make my day" laws won't hold up for him.
I'd very much like to see the guy go to prison.
It all depends on what kind of jury is enpaneled.

I think this guy obviously has a mental problem. I know people will hate it and hope the opposite happens, but he will probably plead insanity. I mean, who the hell measures their lawn to the inch? How can you be obsessed with grass?!

A suprising number of people are obsessed with their lawns. I certainly don't think he has any metal ilness or case for insanity, he was way too calm and I think he was in control all the time. He's just not as nice as is neighbors thought.

A long time ago, an elderly mother was sick in the hospital and her older son went ahead and watched her home for her. Well, it started to get broken into. After a while, he got annoyed (or "snapped") so he decided to wait out the intruder with his gun. Well, person came in, son shot him dead.
The intruder was the 15-year old local boy. Who got sentenced? The older son for killing him even though he was protecting himself.
Point is, the crime may be screwy, but the court can be just as screwy too.

I am on your side on this one danoff. Some punk kids these days think they can get away with anything. Harassing an old man all the time is just rediculous. If someone that works soo hard on their lawn doesnt want you on it, then stay off of it. Its also trespassing. He should have just blown the kids legs off.danoff

Crap like this happened almost every single day to Heathers grandma before she died last year. Not much you can do either. Cops will do nothing about kids crossing her yard either. You pretty much have to take matters into your own hands.

No that part was just a joke. Had to have some humor in this thread. Damn that sound funny the more I read my other post. No really the best way to deal with a bully or ignorant kid is with a camcorder or camera. Take the pics or videos then get ahold of the police.

When somebody pulls out a gun, the argument is over. Run, call the police, and press charges. If this stupid moron, loser of a fifteen year-old did that, he wouldn't be dead. I bet after the old man pulled out the shotgun, the idiot punk threatened to come back to "do something." If that's the case, then the old man wouldn't be charged with anything in our state. If he was, manslaughter would be the most severe punishment he would be facing, and getting a conviction would be very difficult. People in this state don't take kind to threats of death from punk kids, being a gang mecca state, in all.
