You know I was wondering about this.....

Someone said in this very forum that KY was the VP of Sony Computer Entertainment Japan. He's also the president of PD, right? so, this is my biggest fear;

what if both jobs become too hard to handle and he had to step down from being the head of PD to concentrate solely on being president of SCEJ.

hell, if you don't believe me, just look at what happened across the pond a good while back within the same company.

David Jaffe, shortly after making the first God of War, became owner of his studio. shortly after that happened, he handed the reins of the game to Cory Barlog, who make GOW II. we all know how that came out.

anyway, I know that's like comparing apples and oranges and also there been countless other examples of game makers becoming owners of game companies, but still, do you see that as a possibility? personally, I can't even imagine Gran Turismo without KY, but hey, everybody thought that Crash and Spyro was going to stay with Naughty Dog and Insomniac, respectively, so.....

Even if so, that doesn't mean that the GT franchise will totally change. It certainly doesn't mean that it won't be continued, why would they want to end such a profitable game series ?

I honestly don't even expect a GT6 to be made. I think it should rather go under a different name than GT6, and be referred to it, such as GT *insert release year here* (if it ever comes).

I had sort of wondered the same thing, but I think KY will always have the majority say in the GT series.

I don't think Sony would take his focus off of GT (one of Playstations most important franchises, period) ..unless they had something huge in the pipeline that they really wanted him to be a part of.. but even then he would still be able to call shots on GT with other PD veterans acting as boss.

I totally agree with this idea..."GT 2014" = GT6

You are certainly entitled to have that opinion, but I'm curious why you would prefer that?

I understand why there are games that are named after the seasonal sport that the game is emulating... like most sports games and a few racing games, like NASACAR, F1, WRC, etc... as it makes perfectly good sense for games that cover specific seasons in specific sports and or events to include the year in their title.

However, have there been any game series, let alone any racing games that were named only after the year of the game's release, and not based on the content of the game?

If so, I suspect very few, and I suspect the reason for that is because most of those games series do not come out every year, and perhaps they don't want to mislead anyone into thinking the game is about that specific year.

If GT came out with a game that only featured cars made in 2008 and or events from 2008, then that would make sense to call it Gran Turismo 2008, otherwise I can see why games that are not associated with a specific year, or have cars and races that are not associated with a specific year do not include a year in their name.

why are we even thinking of gt6??? gt5 hasnt even come out and its been under production for how long? if gt6 ever does comeout i dont expect it to be before 2015 or so because of how easily it is to just update a game. by updates the life of gt5 should easily be able to double any current gt, gt4 included.

He has been VP for quite a while now and he hasn't changed.

Plus KY's passion is cars (among other things) not business.
