First, a little story of the legendary brand, Lancia:

Lancia is most undeniably the most legendary and innovating Italian car brand to ever exist. Lancia was the first company to have a car with a monocoque body (Lambda) the first car company to feature a road going car with a 5-speed transmission (Ardea Series 3.) the first company ot feature an engine with both a Turbo and Supercharger, the first sompany to put a V6 engine in a production car, and was the first car company to make an independent suspension for production vehicles.

The Legacy of Lancia continues with WRC. The Fulvia, the legendary Stratos which destroyed it`s competiton, the 037 was the last RWD car to compete in WRC, the Delta HF Integrale WRC won 7 consecutive titles in a row, and the Delta S4 was the monster which destroyed the Audi Quattro. In total, Lancia has earned 11 total WRC championship titles in it`s rally history. Up to 2004, Lancia was a proud Italian car brand.

Things have changed dramatically for Lancia though.

In early 2012, Sergio Marchionne announced that Alfa Romeo and Maserati would get an increased model portfolio, and a huge financial support, but for Lancia, this didn`t happen. The only info we got about Lancia, was that they would slowly have a decreased model portfolio, and little financial support. In 2014, Lancia announed that they would become exclusive to Italy, and only produce the Ypsiolion. Today, Lancia has hit rock bottom, and will most likely never be the same brand as it was.

This suggested Lancia, is the rare and lovely Thesis.

Introduced in 2001, The Thesis was hoped to be the car which would most likely save Lancia. Featuring a lower price tag compared to the 5-Series and E-Class, the Thesis looked to be a succes. Featuring Fiat`s 5-cylinder petrol, Fiat`s 5-cylinder diesel, and Alfa Romeo`s Arese V6`s, the enigne range was worthy an Italian executive saloon. The Thesis also featured an exclusive chassis underneath.

Interior-wise, the Thesis featured high quality plastic, and high quality seat trims such as Pelle Frau leather or Alcantara. There was also a choice between Aluminum or wood trim.

The suggested enigne, is the lovely 5-cylinder turbo petrol. connected with a a 6-speed manual and 185 horsepower, and it is is sure to give the Thesis proper performance, and a gorgeous sound!

When the Thesis ceased production in 2009, only 19000 were made. This is a relatively low number, and that makes the Thesis more rare than a BMW 8-Series! This is the reason I think the Thesis should be included, because of the heritage of Lancia, and the fact that it is a gorgeous car!

The Thesis was indeed the car Lancia hoped would save the brand in the 21st century, despite it's rather weird and unoriginal looks. Lancia priced the car rather aggressively compared to the competition.

The Thesis is a car you have to see in real life to be 100% sure about it. I respect your opinion about the looks, and I know (and fear.) you won't be the only one to say that the car looks awful...

Pretty sure this is neither a 5-pot engine nor a Thesis engines bay.
Thread edited. Truly sorry about the wrong picture.

It is a real shame to see what is happening to Lancia. It is a company with an enormously interesting history and it is sad to see it decline into insignificance nowadays. SAAB is the same although that is virtually completely gone now.

This Thesis however is ugly with it's bulbous yet skinny face. If the responsibility of reviving Lancia fell on this car then no wonder the marque is borrowed time. The rear styling isn't bad though and reminds me of the current Bentley Arnage. The Ypsilon I like though. Looks quirky.

The car is not ugly but it's not my cup of tea too.
I really don't know what to do?
:embarrassed:

There is a Thesis 2.4 JTDm Emblema for sale in Norway, in a red metallic, and gray leather interior. If I could afford it, I would have it for the rest of my life!

Love the Thesis myself, and I thought it was rather ugly until I saw one in Copenhagen about 3 years ago. After I saw it, IRL, I fell in love with it ! But you have, and need to see it in person to make up your mind about it.

I always liked this car, it looked gothic and deco like it came from the 1920'-30's. It has a passing resemblance to the Chrysler Phaeton concept car and the rear reminds me of a Maserati.

3.2 V6 is way better

I miss quirky and original sedans like these. Only XJ today is original

I do agree that the 3.2 V6 is the better engine, but I suggested a 166 with that engine. So I felt the need for a change, and that's why I featured the 2.0 Inline 5 turbo, just because it's a rarer, more unique engine than the 3.2 V6.
I do agree though, that while the 2.0 Turbo sounds magnificent, the 3.2 V6 sounds like pure heaven in comparison!

I was around 6 years old when this car was launched, and I never liked it until I saw it 4 years ago. They look rather poorly on a picture, but absolutley stunning in real life if you ask me! Something utterly special and beautiful.

The rear is simular to a Maserati in some respects, and it looks rather gothic. Nevertheless, I love the car!
