Me and Bakugekiki have just done a 30 minute run, Me on Softs and Baku on hards.

Within 11 laps, my front and rear Softs are shot (half way down on the bar)

13 laps in. Bakugekiki is still going on his hards...

Ok, after some long ol' testing, the Hards lasted 17 laps and the Softs lasted 11.

NEW RULES:

Both Hards and Softs will have to be used in a single race unless it rains.
People who qualify 10th or above have to start on Hards, people who qualify below 10 starts on Softs. This will keep the grid closer together and the racing more fair.

Softs will be used to qualify on.

How can we police that?

What is stopping me not qualifying then using two sets of softs?

I believe you can see what people are using on the replays so we'll be able to see if someone is using the wrong ones I guess, pretty sure it also says what your using when you hover over them in the game room

I suppose I'll give a small report on the tyres debate.

The main thing that I noticed is the lap times, grip levels are easily manageable but don't allow for fast laps. On Racing Softs the lap range is between 1:28.000 and 1:31.000 depending on their condition, Racing Hards were allowing me to set laps between 1:33.000 and 1:37.000 over an 18 lap stint.

I am yet to test the softs for longevity but I suppose I should see how long they last in the interests of fairness. Before I test them I am concerned about whether it will actually be worth having a tyre rule. I personally would like to use it, but hards only allowing 5-7 extra laps at the cost of over 4 seconds might not be worth it. This means that I will probably test medium tyres as well as softs, it might lead to replacing hard tyres with medium.

Yes but if everyone was to use the rule, there would be no disadvantage in the long run?

I am currently testing the Medium Tyres at Indy and first results seem good. The rear tyres are still going strong after 12 laps, the big problem I am finding is the wear on the front tyres. I may have to try adjusting suspension settings to remedy this.

Hard Tyres: LR - 1:33.XXX - Average: 1:35 ~17 laps
Medium Tyres: LR - 1:31.095 - Average: 1:33 ~15 laps
Soft Tyres LR: 1:29.396 - Average: 1:31 ~13 laps

The tyres seem to perform just as expected, I simply used the tyres until the times I could produce were 3-4 seconds slower than my best. If you wanted to stay out longer then the tyres are perfectly manageable, you just won't produce particularly good lap times.

One observation I have made is that the only reason you need to change the tyres is because the fronts wear down so quickly, after 14 laps on soft tyres the rears are still at 60% while the fronts are at around 30%.
