turning off mic audio helps too...but it wouldn't be as fun. I'm OK with turning off visible damage. Also, I usually set the game to "high" not "very high", and the mic audio to "low". You can drive side-by-side just fine with the game on "high". I've never tried the lower settings before but I wonder if they help. I'll experiment with that on a regular 450 night.

I tested a few cars at Trial Mountain. In practice mode, I was only hitting mid-1:55 but most cars were high-1:56. I still don't have the Mini Cooper to test though. This track is very tricky on comfort tires. I think we will have significantly more incidents next week as it is extremely difficult to run 2-wide through the bumpy esses.

I'm still undecided about FR vs FF. On this track, the old FR cars really can't handle the ess turn before the start/finish. If you push it full throttle, they run wide and/or unload the rear and spin around. I experienced this with both the Honda 1300 and the Isuzu 117. Both of these cars also require lifting off the throttle to stay on the track before the first tunnel. They gain time in other places on the track but still end up about 1 second off pace. The FF cars I tested could run full throttle down the entire front section of the track with the first brake point being entry into the tunnel. They require less finesse to make fast lap times but I did run the tires into the red on my best laps. I guess the only thing left to test is a 10-15 lap average to see whether tire wear is a factor on this track.

You have to lift before the finish line? You might want to try a different line, even my little Karhmann Ghia could go full throttle in that last part. Only issue with the FR's is the first sector, the second turn going towards the hill will be tricky, but with warm tires you will be lightning fast.

I think running in dabney's lounge would be better, the physics online in a room is much different then in a lounge. You will never pit if we run a room, which would defeat the purpose of a 1 hour race.

I refused to lift off before the finish line...and out of five laps, I never felt confident...and in each car I crashed at least once when the tires skipped and regained traction.

Your Karhmann Ghia might not be going fast enough for it to be an issue. The 1300 felt much more planted compared to the 117...but the 117 had better turn in on the other corners. Neither had the grip to blow through the first sector...and that's where most of the time was lost on their laps.

I tested other FR's, even a couple mid-55's 56's that took it flat out.

What FR did you hit 55 in?

For a lightning lap, I'd risk it flat out, but one minor mistake on the first left screws everything up...unless you jump over the apex of the first right...which would be an invalid lap in practice mode, but will probably work online.

We are requiring that drivers have at least 2 wheels over the rumble strip of that turn correct?

Ran about a half dozen practice laps on Trial Mtn. (FF)

High 55's legal, a second less jumping the second apex.

Did a bit of searching and got an extra sera and 117. still looking for beetle and cooper to test. Leaning toward sera, but u never know

That's a secret Chuyler.

Baldwin we've got a little room, glad to have you back!

Yes, two wheels on track at all times.

Diabolic, I'll look this weekend.

Maybe it'll be the subtitle to the series.

<Movie Announcer Voice> "Lemons 5.0: Insult to Injury" and watch for the forthcoming "Lemons 6: Revenge of the Turds"

God knows we'll meet again in Lemons 6, the search for more PP.

I tested about a dozen cars today in practice mode and cycled through the UCD and found a few more. I wasn't able to find anything as quick as the vehicles we already discovered.

The EXA, Mini Cooper, and Polo are around 1:55.3-1:55.5. Each shows strong and weak points on Trial Mountain so it is hard to gauge which is the best platform. I followed my ghost around in practice mode and would gain and lose time on different parts of the track. Cooper corners best at high speed, polo corners best at low speed, and the EXA accelerates uphill quick enough to overcome its slower cornering speeds.

As for everything else I tested, it was pretty clear after the first sector what was going to work. My FR cars were too slow across the start/finish and too old to take the high speed corners leading up to the first tunnel. Even if I did manage to nail it without lifting they would scrub too much speed off.

I will probably run a few longer tests online tomorrow to see if tire wear becomes a factor...but right now I'm leaning toward a FF since drafting on this track can be a disaster. If the FRs are at the limit through those turns with no draft, it will only make things more difficult when speed is added.

Testing in practice mode? Can't say I approve of that.
This.

All my lemons testing is done in dabs lounge, since we race there.

I think Chuy was just using it as an opportunity to dis on my EXA. Talkin' bout it's "slow cornering speeds"

:unamused:

I think we should try fixed host w/dabney hosting.

And my car has been shared since yesterday afternoon.

With practice mode, I can see exactly how I compare to a ghost of another car. If I get a faster exit speed out of a turn but my ghost beats me to the end of the straight, it is obvious. Without the ghost, it is harder to know where the time is being lost.

Once I narrow down my selection, I'll run a few online to verify online physics produces the same results. Lap times won't be the same, but the should stack up in the same order.

Finally found a Mini!

Picked up a lot of missing trophies last night. I imagine the events would have been much easier, but with this last update they must have become harder. Over an hour I spent on the Jeff Gordon School to beat it all and I still just have a silver on the Advanced last two laps daytona. With me driving in third person, the intermediate Jeff Gordon cone race was nearly impossible to gold with the d-pad. Running the high line took me about 10 tries. In total, in alittle under 3 hours, I beat the Loeb Rally stuff, Jeff Gordon racing school and the GT-R time attack in Arcade mode, which by comparison to the other two was very simple.

The Gordon cone thing became very close to impossible when the geniuses at PD forced ASM to "ON"

Just tried a couple open lobby races. Online is completely borked. We might want to run some lounge tests at some point.

There was a short period of time between the ASM being turned off and the update that screwed up the drafting. That's when I got it... I think.

I do know it was after that ASM fiasco.

Edit: bronzed it 7/1.

I'm pretty sure I golded it back before any major updates were made. It wasn't easy. It was some time ago. There was a video on YouTube that showed me who to bump and who to pass.

As for the Mini, I found two. The Mini Cooper and the Mini "One". Both run the same laps but the "One" needs a turbo to get to the appropriate power level.

I tried again today but could not find anything to beat the Mini and EXA. The '63 Alpha is one FR I found that has the power to do it, but it is too unstable to run full throttle lap after lap...there is no margin for error in the first sector.

Man, I should have pulled out another car @ TM.

And FYI, my 2 fastest laps last Wednesday @ TM were 1:55.9 and 1:55.5 as I saw while racing. I watched the replay after having to push it a bit to get under 56 in my lounge this afternoon and the fastest laps recorded were 1:55.84 1:56.2.
