Besides social enrichment, what are we all racing for? Are there some prizes? Is this just for 'fun' & 'bragging rights'? Just wondering.

FFs that look promising:
Mini Cooper
EXA Canopy
Polo/Lupo
Beetle
Jazz/Fit

FRs that look promising.
117Coupe, maybe
that's it.

I don't have a Mini in my garage but Dabney set the fastest time in it last night at Lemons Country Circuit (Toscana). I came within a few 100ths in the Lupo but that was after being up on his time by 3/10ths after the first sector. If we ran them side by side, I think the Mini would win down the straight.

I shaved 10KG off with the window weight reduction and still am @ 349PP w/4555 miles. Anything else puts it over, of course.

Good enough. Some cars at 345pp will be faster than others at 350pp...so its more about the car than the specific pp level.

That's exactly where my Cooper is as well.

You guys. We'll be racing at 9 CST. Also, we're racing for bragging rights mainly, but if you all want to do prizes, lmk.

Also, I think you've not opened your eyes enough for the FR's. The track selection will favor them heavily. With smart driving I see no issue of FR'a keeping up, or passing.

I found the Piazza. It went over 345 during testing last season but is sitting at 349 right now. I may try that out before we start tonight. I also found another 117Coupe so I could get that ready as well. The Cosmo/110 is a no-go for me. I ran it during one of our test sessions and it is too tail happy on CM tires and will surely end up backward at Trial Mountain. I ran a few others during my 345 testing and I doubt they will do well with the extra 5 pp.

my 177 runs almost as fast as the car im thinking of runing, but its also hard to drive compared to an ff

Was there practice last night? is garris running lemons as well or did u all just show up and decided to test? so far im down to 117, honda 1300, lupo gti and the sera. The sera is my fastest car so far, in fact the only car Ive gotten in the 26s on gve-r but i worry that its just another tigra esque disaster. Max pp is fairly low. after tonight, im gonna turn ucd over to find a couple others to test. ie piazza, mini, cosmos (for giggles)

Watch out for the VA State Po-Po.

I'll send you a friend request when I get home.

Vacuum? Padding? A racer craves not these things.

Sent you a FR. :)

I am always careful of the SoVA Five-0. :scared:

Running the EXA tonight, cuz I don't have time to mess about with anything else, but I have yet to see any mention of the car I'll use for the season. :sly:

Hint: It's red.

Last question (maybe)... Do we use mics?

Anyone else have a car that looks reeeeeeeally good for the season, but it comes out at 351 pp after Engine/Chassis Restoration ?

Sucks, because with its transmission, it wouldn't be competitive the first night.

Was there practice last night?
I practiced with Garris at 350pp on CM tires at Lemons Country Circuit. We messed with his parity system. It didn't work as well on that track compared to our testing nights at GVE-R. I ran the whole night at 344 and Garris was still 1 second off pace at 360. I was on the bumper of the leader every race but unless I had 350pp I couldn't pass for the lead unless someone made a mistake.

Last question (maybe)... Do we use mics?
Yes. Although some people drop the mics during the race to avoid the distraction. I personally have messed up the final laps of two races by participating in late-race banter.

I prefer the mics, but you can just turn your's off. I actually drive better while talking, while others seem to get distracted.

I drive equally poorly while talking or being silent, so I'll probably engage in random chatter.

EDIT:

You guys. We'll be racing at 9 CST.

Wait... I thought races were at 9 EST/8 CST?

We've always started practice around 9:30EST and had the race start at 10:00EST.

30mins should be plenty of time for me to practice up. I mean, that redneck guy learned to drift an EVO in less time than that, right?

Who you callin redneck? I'm a hillbilly.

Nope, 9 CST. It gets to be a hassle for some at 8, because they have families. (School for myself)

If you want to practice, I'm in my lounge right now.

If you're being lapped I find it best to let folks through...especially

if they're...

you know...

in a pack of five fighting for the lead. It does no good to split the group in half. Just my two cents.

off to bed now :gtpflag:

Slow Polo is Slow, need to find something that is atleast decent.

The Polo is a decent car. You had plenty of speed last night. You just need to work on consistency and improving lap times.

I had fun last night, and would have been perfectly happy with a 4th place finish given the performance of my car. I couldn't keep up with the pack when everyone ran single file but if there was just one car out front I could squeeze off a pass before the end of the straight. I needed the lead starting on the last lap to win and Dabney gave me some help with that instead of making it 3 wide. I kept he and Esh behind me until the approach to the final turn. I stayed inside and Dabney had a little trouble holding the outside. Esh was on my bumper exiting the turn but I forced him to bump me once before letting him make a move. That was all the power I needed to make it to the finish line out front.

Sadly, the Piazza gained 2pp over the race so I will have to find something else. Probably for the best since there is no way it will keep up on the hills of Trial Mountain. I may try the 117Coupe or the Honda 1300 to see if they can get closer to the pace of the Mini Cooper.

Oh, interesting point, tire wear for the leaders was virtually identical. Despite me having a FR drivetrain, I didn't end up with more rubber at the end of the night. That may change as power and tire compounds change, but I just found it surprising that after that many laps I wasn't able to gain a cornering advantage. In fact I think Esh's Mini could hold faster corner speeds at the end when I wasn't forcing him to check-up.
