Do you mean does the sound work? Yes it does, why do you ask?
The sound, wi-fi, and everything except the web-cam and microphone worked out-of-the-box without having to do anything when i installed Ubuntu on my laptop(a 5 year old HP Pavilion dv1000)

The reason you don't see the task bar or rocket dock(the thing in the bottom of the first picture) is because I have them both set to only show up on mouse over. I like my desktop looking as clean as possible.
