Get that desktop. Looks pretty cool. And also I don't speak technology, what's a rainmeter?

Search rainmeter in google and go to their website. It's a way of adding tools or gadgets with Rainmeter they are called "skins." If you go to the website Deviantart and search rainmeter they have tons of these skins that are uploaded by people who make them.

I've got (going couter-clockwise) the clock, date line, one click links, google search, youtube search, volume control (bottom right), notepad, one click recycle bin, and 3 day weather skins all on there.

I don't really have a good explanation on how to set them all up but I'd imagine in google there should be some good step by step guides or as always ask here. Maybe somebody can give a better explanation than me.

Thanks for the pointers :)

If you want a hand, let me know what you want, I can try and help you out.

Thanks for the offer. I don't have a laptop ATM, but I'm looking at them, so when I het one, I'll be back here or I'll PM you.

Are all you guys using windows systems? I'm interested in customising my new MBP's desktop as I have seen some awesome ones on here, would anyone be able to give me some tips? Thanks in advance 👍 :)

I'm not sure if Rainmeter works for Mac or not but you could try. Search it in google and see the posts above.

Yeah I did search it but it said you need windows operating system and no sign of a Mac release soon 👎

The Mac equivalent for Rainmeter would be Geektool, however it's much more complex to use and doesn't have that strong a user base. Beyond menubar, dock and icon changes it gets rather difficult to customise a Mac desktop.

I just want to take this moment to thank DG_Silva for the help he gave me with Rainmeter! It was really quite helpful. Also, BramTurismo, what is the name of the skin for the Media Player at the top of your desktop?

Hey, no probs. Did any of it make sense? I've just been modding the RSS feeds, I'll show you guys what I've come up with later on.

My hackintosh :D

It's an application called CD Art display 👍

Yeah, it made a lot of sense. I will try to get a pic of my desktop up to show the tweaks I made to it. The only issue I had was with start orb? I couldn't get it to work. Other than that, I understood everything you wrote and was able to succesfully complete your tutorial. Cheers DG_Silva

Start Orb shouldn't be an issue, it should make the start menu pop up automatically when you click it, but my x and y positions might be a bit too long for you. To start the Start Orb up, you need to right click on any skin, then click on Rainmeter Menu>configs>start orb. Now, each time Rainmeter starts, the start orb will load up with it. If you can't find it, go to your documents/rainmeter/skins/start orb directory, and edit the start.ini file. Change the position to x=0, y=0, (and save it) and that will make it appear in the top left hand screen. What you'll have to do is close down Rainmeter, and start it back up.

I'm currently working on a edit of my desktop, I'll post a picture up when it's done.

Nice, DG_Silva! I plan on posting mine soon but it won't have the same effect as it does on my Windows 7 desktop.

Quite a messy Rainmeter skin Silva, the colors don't really work together either. I do like the style of the taskbar in the middle.

I was trying to get the skins to look like pit boards, hence the yellow text. Obviously, the choice of car I could have had a Camel Lotus driven by Senna, but my favourite driver is Gilles Villeneuve. Anyone know of any other yellow cars (apart from the Forti Corsa)?

Man I wish I had some of my old desktop screenshots saved, I could show you new guys a few things ;) Actually I might install XP on a bootcamp partition and make some, I'm kinda bored
