Does that make it conducive GTPlanet conversation? No, I think not.

Well it doesn't seem to bother most people, but if the Mods don't like it then I can live with that. I must admit I'm getting pretty tired though of people round here telling other members what to do. Last time I checked it was the mods who told people what/what not to post.

This would be where I come in then?

It seems my previous thread was a little difficult to understand. Let me reiterate:

According to the Acceptable Use Policy:

Piracy is illegal. Therefore, anyone deemed by the moderating staff to be discussing the illegal acquisition or distrubution of copyrighted works will be warned regarding their breach of the AUP. The warning counter will be incremented, and anyone on their third warning will be banned.

Remember, this is at the discretion of the moderating staff. If we think that you're discussing piracy, you will be warned. You may subsequently, via a PMed response to the moderator concerned, take the opportunity to prove that you are not discussing piracy.

I hope that this warning is simple enough for you to understand...

Why do people even USE WindowBlinds...

UXTheme.DLL Patch FTW!!!
Transparant Vista bar, better selection of themes, etc...

Or maybe they just love to see a pop-up every time they boot their computer.

I, myself isn't really a WindowBlinds fan. That thing takes too much room just for some themes....:ouch:

I don't think that matters. I won't use UXTheme.DLL Patch.

If you error out trying to install the patch, Viper_Maniac, it's probably because you didn't wait for the Windows popup (it asks you to verify that you're modifying a registered .dll). You need to wait for it to popup (it's near the end of the process).

I know about that and yes I do wait for the popup.
Copied from thread I made on Neowin's forum:
Ok this only started happening after I upgraded to SP2. Ok first if I try to change themes under the appearance tab in Display properties it comes up with this error box:

Then if I try to hit the apply button after trying to change the theme either under appearance or under theme it gives me this:

Whats going on here? Please help. Other than this I've had no other problems with SP2.
Still havent found out whats going on yet.

Vista.

:)
BTW, I use neither UXTheme patch or WindowsBlinds.
Google search for Styler Toolbar, its quite a good little program. Lets you skin without modifying system files, uses visual styles just like the patch. Easy to remove if you don't like it too. :P

Any type of actual program that changes your theme, other than Windows itself, is utterly useless.

You CAN actually convert some WindowBlinds themes over to normal Windows themes I do believe.

Not to mention said theme programs tend to eat resources.

Well I find it to be rather useful for people who would maybe like to try out different themes without tinkering with important system files.
And can you do this with the UXTheme patch?

Do you have any more information on this?

With enough tinkering, possibly.

Can you do that without any more than 50,000K memory usage?

I use styler for themes and toobars and it uses (according to task manager) exactly 746K of memory.

I still don't see why people would rather not save time and energy by simply replacing a couple of (contrarily) unimportant files. You never use any extra memory. Once it's done you don't have to start/exit a program to get your themes to work. Plus, you don't get any pop-ups (which I am aware that Styler supposedly has none).

I just see it as the better alternative.

Not everybody is as tech-savvy as you and don't want to take the chance of messing up their computer.

Albeit, I've been using the uxtheme patcher for years. I'm giving the Styler Toolbar another test (I tried it a long time ago, amongst one of it's first releases, and found it to be way too buggy for me.). It's actually quite resource friendly, at 800kb on a 2560x1024 (dual monitor) setup. I'm not saying I'm totally convinced, but first impressions are actually quite impressive. 👍
