List of current Gr.1/Gr.3/Gr.4 cars and their possible replacements in GT7/8

They are not models from the 90s and older so they would go in Brand Central under "RE Amemiya" and "ASL".

if the FTO GT300 (I assume you mean the FTO LM Race car from GT4) were added, I think it would be in GR.3
The FTO GT300 MIE1992 refers to is the FWD JGTC car from '98 or '99(?). It was in Gran Turismo 2 or 4. I'll have to look it up.

So the Taeivon Trampio FTO then

The car in Gran Turismo 4 (The one I thought was being referred to due to the "TC Treatment") looked like this:

It wouldn't be Gr.3, it's 4WD and that's not allowed in Gr.3

One of the big old problems about the rubbish Gr. system they swear by.
Wouldn't put it past them to simply change it to Real Wheel Drive and shove it there.

Judging by the Specs that FTO GT300 would fit into Gr.4

the FTO LM/ Touring Car would be Gr.3 but it would need to be FR

but i dont think PD will ever add that fictional FTO tho , more likely the GT300 version and ofc the Road car

honestly i would restrict the wheel drives in Gr.4 too and have 4WD category or no 4WD cars (only FR/MR)
but you would need FF category for that too

Since the škoda is in the game might as well show something related to it :P

I could see easiy this Fabia being a Gr.4 and Gr.B car /that exact rally car might be under WRC licence tho/
plus i added škoda into the list

as much i like the car , sound of the C8 GT3 is a big downgrade compared to the older Vettes
that Z06 engine sounds basically like Ferrari 458/488 , funny that the C8 Stingray has the more american V8 sound :D

Its literally only the racing cars with the sound change (this and the C8.R before it), the road cars retain the same crank as the previous generations of Corvette.

Seeing the state of Hyundai in GTWS Manufacturers Cup right now, I immediately thought of Hyundai's next Gr.3 car being the Elantra... Evo/WRX/Atenza Gr.3 style.

Or a i30N - currently leading the BTCC (this would very likely be Gr4 though)

My likely Gr.2 picks:

Aston Martin Vantage DTM
Bentley Speed 8 '03
BMW M4 DTM
Honda Civic Type R GT500 '24
Mercedes-AMG C-Class DTM
Nissan Z GT500 '24
Toyota GR Supra GT500 '24

I picked the Bentley because it raced in LMGTP, just as the Toyota GT-One did. (That said, I think cars from the LMP, LMP900, or LMP1 classes will likely go into Gr.1, such as the BMW V12 LMR.) Additionally, I think it'd be perfect to specifically pick the 2024 GT500 trio, since that'd mark eight years between them and the 2016 trio, which in turn is eight years younger than the 2008 trio. Meanwhile, I don't see the FR version of the NSX GT500 nor the HSV-010 being similarly as necessary. However, I definitely could see a variety of GT300 cars going into a combination of Gr.3 and Gr.4, with the Lexus LC500h GT300 '21 being an excellent candidate for a newer Gr.3 car for Lexus.

EDIT: And just for giggles, I wonder if the Lexus LFA that raced in the N24 could appear as an additional Gr.4 entry?

I am still surprised we dont have those N cars , especially when Hyundai/Genesis are a big sponsor of GT7
Seems the main marketing focus IS on Genesis, between the reveals of their Gr.4 in the flesh and their GR.3 car in a presentation and then their recent VGT. It is very odd that Hyundai wasn't prioritized considering they still have a obvious Motorsport presence.

Agree.

Project-CARS-2-Car-List-Group-5.png

this reminded me how the Group 5 were so amazing on Project Cars 2 , i wish GT had more of those cars and focused some events on that era

Opel_Manta_400R_(1985).jpg

They ever decide to wisely use the IMSA license there are a long variety of group 5s
Some of these are rarities:
The Opel Manta 400 R would have been a valid choice
Well, we have the Chevrolet Monza from Brands and although adding a Silhouette would make everyone Happy

Have they done it for the Group C cars?
from what i remember maybe once? for championship , otherwise no - it always been Gr.1 race

another time they did a daily race with limited Gr.1 2016 cars were on Interlagos

btw speaking of classics ....

Would be cool if in Sport Mode PD limit race cars to the JGTC cars for some events.
There was a round like this in 2022 Nations Cup.

Was once for a daily race C at Daytona Road back in early 2023.

Poliphony won't replace anything. They'll more likely just add cars.

And it's not like the class system makes any sense now. It could, would be awesome if did, but that seems to me way too much common sense for Poliphony Digital to handle.

Makes me chuckle a bit that we can’t make any season with an accurate complete grid of FIA GT3 cars. The main car missing is a proper rear engine, rear wheel drive, any year 911 GT3(GT3-R).

As for cars being replaced, are Sport Mode Championship Manufacturer choices has been narrowed down within brands? I’m trying to recall seeing the AMG GT3 ‘19 as the only choice. Didn’t look like a player could choose the SLS ‘11 or AMG ‘16.
