How many cars have you owned? What were they?

1. 1976 Ford LTD - A Yellow boat with the back bumper tied on with rope. Lost my viginity in that caverous back seat.

2. 1977 Chevy Suburban. Nobody would repair the exhaust for fear of liabilty. The body and floor was full of holes. My only 454 Big Block.

3. 1970 Olsmobile Delta 88. Rocket 350, 4bbl. The only car I had that could smoke it's wheels. The wiring was all messed up so I had to disconnect the battery to turn it off. Bought for $50.00, sold for $75.00.

4. 1989 Ford Ranger. 4cl. Bare bones but my first new vehicle. My uncle was finance manager at a Ford dealer. Totalled in 1991.

5. 1991 Ford Ranger. V6, power everything. A step up.

*At this point I realized that I had to devote myself to full time school instead of work so out went the new truck and in came the...

6. 198? VW Scirroco. Speedy little car. Silver, leather. It just sort of died. I miss it.

7. 1980 Datsun B-210. Neat little car. Got the "Denver Boot" in Chicago. Had to pay $800.00 to get it off, which was more than I paid for the car. I took the plates off and forgot about it. I had no car for four years after this.

8. 1991 Acura Integra. I miss it.

9. 1991 VW Cabriolet. Yeah, I know, a chick's car. But I liked having a convertible.

10. 1970 Plymouth Scamp. Meh... It looked cool. Powder blue, no rust, straight six. By the time I got rid of it it didn't go in reverse any more.

11. 1992 Jeep Cherokee Limited. Drove it to death and traded it for...

12. My current vehicle, 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo. But I'm getting the itch again...

Phew. I may have even forgot one or two.

1st car: 1964 Chevy Impala, I bought it for cheap, it wasnt in the best condition, and I sold it to a guy for twice what I paid for it. When I put that car in the Auto Trader I got calls from Los Angeles, Seattle and Las Vegas. I live in Calagary Ab which is north of Idaho.

2nd Car: 1990 Honda Civic, most of you know about it, It doesnt have a turbo anymore,

3rd Car: 1996 Jaguar Xj6, very awesome car, I am now hooked on Jaguars.

4th car: I dont have one yet, but I am looking at everything from a Porsche 944 to a Lotus Elan.

1. 1991 Acura Integra RS: my very first car. did all my streetracing in that... learned the hard way, stopped for good, and then got car #2 as a birthday present 2 years ago.

2. 1998 Acura Integra Type-R: the car i want to own again. got it for my 20th birthday, as a gift from my parents. Got stolen, but retrieved, about 2 weeks into ownership... fortunately they took only the seats and the stereo, which i replaced with red JDM Recaro seats and an Alpine head unit. Had a very nice set of 16'' Volk Racing wheels, and did a custom turbocharging job on it. And then it all fell apart... it got stolen and stripped. Longtime members might remember seeing pictures of it in the HMRCWG thread.

3. 2000 Honda Prelude, base model: didn't exactly have a choice with this one, got it with the insurance's money... still completely stock, except for the Pioneer head unit, and the Toyo Observe G2 snow tires currently installed. :)

4. 1991 Integra RS: not much to talk about over here... ;)

you guys have more money than scence :P

197- chrysler sigma (good for burnouts and circle work)

1993 ford falcon.... transport :/

1986 citroen bx16trs... loved that car. wasnt even close to fast, but it was sooo comfy.

1983 civic.... transport (v/boring)

2001 astra, stock... fun. only 1.8ltr but hey, i commute 100km per day so i dont want sumfin big. and its great for trafic slaloms :D

btw, Can i suggest the mods to make a sticky out of this? it's potentially sure we're going to have about 30 more threads about that in the future...

well i've had a few, most of them were terrible but they got me by in the early days. i'm just going to name some of the most important ones to me

1. Fiat Strada
it was my first car and am not going to say any more except that it was the last fiat i ever owned if you know what i mean lol

2. Mini
it was a car i bought off one of my mates, i had it for about 3 days before stuffing it into a tree. great car to drive though and it went round corners like it was on rails :)

3. Ford Fiesta
it was a right bag of crap, the handbrake didnt work, the foot brake only worked when it wanted to and i put 15" wheels on it so every time someone else was in the car with me the arches would scrub and it cost me more in tyres than the car was worth

4. Rover Metro
not a bad car but not a very good car either, the head lights never worked for some reason, even when i took it to a garage to be sorted out they never could fix the problem. so i just never drove at night

5. Ford Orion
the start of my better cars, i never had any problems with it and i put a full body kit on it and sprayed the whole thing black myself. i had it few months until i got a .....

6. Renualt 5 GT Turbo
excellent car and went like a rocket, i still miss it somedays now. the only problem i had with it was a slight oil leak but apart from that it was a great car, i had it about 3 years until some idiot women driver pulled out on me and i was forced to swerve and went into a curb smashing all the suspension and steering up so i got rid of it.

7. Vauxhall Astra GTE Convertible
it wasn't bad but could never be a replacement for the old GT Turbo, i had it about 8 months and got rid of it

8. BMW E30 318
my first BMW and not my last, good car and very reliable but it was to slow, i kept it for about a year

9. Another BMW E30 318 but....
someone supercharged it and for the time it was running nothing could keep with it but that only lasted about 6 months and the engine blew up so that had to go.

10. BMW E36 320
Nice car to drive, very smooth and it was the first car that i had that was respectable in its day, had it for about two years and sold it

11. BMW M Roadster
I always wanted a fast 2 seater so i decided to get the M Roadster (it being the most powerful out in its day), kept it for two years and sold it

12. BMW M5
Me and my girlfriend had the baby on the way so i had to buy something more practicle but i didnt want to move away from BMW's so this seemed just the right car, powerful and quick but still had the practicality. had it for a year but the girlfriend didnt like driving it (she said she felt intimidated by it) so i got rid of it :(

13. TVR Tuscan S (present car)
The fastest car i've ever owned and i bought my girlfriend a Ford Focus so practicality wasnt a problem anymore. great car, the performance is incredible and i've had a few scary moments in the wet with it but thats what you would expect in a powerful rear wheel drive car with no traction control :)

thats a list of the cars i've remembered the most, i've had a few others but there not worth mentioning. by the way great post.

1. 1974 Fiat X-19

Currently located at my grandparents house in maryland, its used as a shelf mainly.

2. 1986 Acura Legend

First year Acura was even alive, about 5 years ago my sister decided to listen to another person in a taffic jam at my school and a truck ran into the car pushing the front axle into the tranny, car is dead.

3. 1987 Dodge Caravan

My mom's old minivan.....nuf said

4. 1994 Acura Legend Coupe Type 2

My dad's car that he bought shortly before my sister got her license, he wanted the 6-speed but settled for the auto because she could not drive a stick so she took the test in this car.

5. 1991 Acura Legend LS

my car, but my dad bought it for my sister after she wrecked the 86 Legend. Pretty fast for a boat :D I've only lost 1 streetrace so I'm not complaining

Haven't had quite as many, but here goes:

1976 Toyotal Corolla (pale blue)
In that crap blue, we did the interior up a bit, and put a nice warm 1300cc (they were 1100 normally) that could do 7600rpm. Five speed box and good shocks - it was a bit of a surprise packet, and I had it out to 100mph down a slight incline. Died when we found rust in the sills (not worth fixing).

1968 Mazda 1600 wagon (beige, Australian Racing Grey - or undercoat)
It was a mate's second car, only ran it for 6 months or so - looked a bit like a Triumph Dolomite in wagon form (it ran bigger wheels). It was temporary.

1988 Mitsubishi Magna wagon (white)
(for non-Australian readers , think Mitsubishi Sigma widened a couple of inches). Nice car, air, steer, EFI, 5 speed, nice blue velour interior, alloys. Did sterling service, although the best argument against big-torque FWD you ever saw, especially in the wet

1998 Holden Vectra CD sedan (silver)
First new one, and first jointly with my current 'other half'. Again a manual, in 2 litre sedan form, it remains one of the better handling FWD cars I've driven (Holden did a lot of work on the suspension before releasing them here) although it had a voracious appetite for front tyres. When we traded it on the current car after 3 years I got the distinct impression it wouldn't be a good car to own when 5 years old. Amazing highway fuel economy.

2001 Subaru Liberty (Legacy) RX sedan (blue)
Managed to talk the other half out of an IS200 (which go for stupid money here) but getting her to test drive a Liberty/Legacy (which is about 2/3 the price)- AWD is now a requirement for all future cars (along with air, steer, alloys and cruise). Fantastic build quality, absurd grip levels (much more grip than I have talent), brilliant handling, excellent refinement - just needs a bit more torque and maybe a sixth gear for the highway. I now understand why people are so fierely loyal to this brand.

haven't owned any cars. was thinking of picking up a free 86 tempo to try to get working but decided it would never be worth the money, since it needed a new set of tires.

i've only driven one car. a 1986 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme 4 door. i've driven it twice, it's comfy, and nice to drive.

Well, I dont own a car but my parents do:) My dad owns a 1998 Mazda B2000 pickup and my mom owns a 1992 Pontiac Sunbird and a 1987 Ford Escort 5 door.

As a BOF,and the son of a gear-head I have owned and been around a great many cars.
My first was a 1962 Ford Thunderbird (see pic at left<-- for a vague idea of what she looked like).

Had a 1969 Austin America-Junque, but fun junque. Slow but sounded like it was flying.

1971 Ford Galaxie 500. The biggest car I ever drove with drum brakes and no power assist. Thankfully, it was slow.

1979 VW Bus. Last of the 2.0 liter 914 motors for power from the factory. 'nuff said.

1982 Nissan Sentra. Solid as an anvil. Pretty as an anvil too. once got over 50 miles per gallon. Great little car.

Two Pontiac 6000's an '85 and a '87. The '85 was "free" and worth every penny of that. The '87 was great right up to the day it died.

1992 Chrysler Caravan...4-cyl. It was/is junk. too much vehicle with too little motor.

1992 Ford Escort GT. This is one awesome little car.

1989 Ford Probe. Solid, Slow and pretty as the aforementioned anvil.

2001 Chevy Venture. only had it a month no real opinion yet. But the one we rented to go to my dad's funeral was a pretty good machine.

There are more, but these are the noteworthy ones.

I'm not a car owner either. I'm planning on getting an SL500 when I get my license, not sure how that's going to work out though. :-p

I might get stuck with a Vito, don't ask.

'65 Mustang, got as a birthday present a while back, currently stripped out and getting ready for a complete rebuild into a really fast car. I've got things planned out to make it into an 11 sec. 1/4 mile car, though that will be about 5 (or maybe more) years in the future, unfortunately, as money is kinda tight at times :embarrassed:

'88 Mustang LX, first car I bought myself. Recently rebuilt 4 cylinder, beautiful blue paint, 5 speed, good condition, etc.

I'm not going to list all of them. Just the ones that stood out for me.

72 SS Chevelle :)
71 Charger SE
70 Monte Carlo
74 T/A ,76 T/A,2000 T/A
70 Nova
85 Monte Carlo SS
64 Ford Galaxy 500
96 Dodge Ram
99 Dodge Ram

I think that's it for the most memorable vehicles I've owned.

One I have to put in for honorable mention only because I put a lot of miles on it and it never gave up no matter how hard I tried to kill it.
1995 Pontiac Sunbird with a 4 cylinder. I bought it just for a fuel efficient way to get back and forth to work. I hated how cheap it looked and that top speed for it was only 105 mph.(downhill)
But it went 186,000 miles even though I didn't take care of it. It got a total of 6 oil changes and no major repairs ever. Who would have thought it could stand up to this kind of abuse.

Lesse...

1. '82 Chevy Cavalier - bulletproof engine, drove it until 172,000 showed on the odo. Blew the tranny out, but the engine was still perfect.

2. '79 Ford Mustang Pace Car - Once upon a time, this was a beautiful car. First owner had it bored .060 over, blueprinted, balanced. That 302 was incredibly quick. Second owner (stupid teenager), ran the motor with no oil. :( I bought it (partially destroyed) for $900. Threw two motors in it before I gave up and scrapped it. I miss it, and hate it at the same time. Nickname: Tweaky.

3. '88 Toyota hatchback of some sort. Box with wheels, got me to work. Bad luck though, a deer ran into it (yes, I didn't hit the deer, the deer hit me), then it got hit while parked on the street, then some decided to use the back window for rifle practice. Sold to my brother for his first car. He blew the engine shortly after.

4. '92 Geo Metro - Oh yeah...ph34r the 3 cylinders! After blowing the clutch disc on this one (mechanic who removed it said it was laying in the bottom of the case in 'thousands' of pieces) and driving it 10 miles home in first gear, the engine blew shortly after.

5. '99 Dodge Neon Sport - My first new car! Great fun, still have this one, and it's still running great.

6. '98 Pontiac Grand Prix SE - Blech. Rolled like an opera singer and the 3100 engine was...slow at best. But, it worked well, and hauled me and the family around. Traded in for car number 7.

7. '02 Subaru Impreza WRX - Ah yes...my baby. AWD, turbo boxer four. A few slight modifications, but mostly stock. Should run low 14s, high 13s but there's no drag strips around here. :(

I thought you used to have the previous WRX too, hmm... Doesn't having to keep applying only 15% throttle while driving on regular road give you foot cramps? :D

1. '85 Bright red Citroën Axel 12TRS. Yep... The Sports version of the famous Axel! :) LOL yeah wathever.. it was a fun car and it was my first. Was quite nippy around town. I had a sticker on the rear that said "Recycled Ferarri" :)

2. '70 Ivory white Volkswagen 1300 Semi Automatic (type 1, aka Beetle) What a lovely car that was, I'd still have it if it didn't have a lot of electric problems, no wiringloom and an electronic activated clutch (that's where the "semi automatic" comes in)

3. '81 White Honda Civic 1500 DeLuxe. After the beetle I had no car for about a year. Then when my uncle died, my aunt wanted to get rid of the car he had ASAP. It reminded her to much of him, he had bought it new back in '81 and it had been his pride and joy. I bought it from her, the same comments as to teh Axel apllie here, fun little car.

4. '78 Yuka Yellow Truimph Spitfire 1500TS. I sold the Honda on to a buddy of mine after I had it for nearly a year, I had seen a nice Spitfire fixer upper for a nice price. I bought it after several return visists to the dealer part exchanced my '78 Honda CB750 custom chopper aswell. It was the best car I ever had, it was the worst car I ever had. 3 years new engine various other parts, needed a new gearbox, it spend more time in the workshop then under my butt.... then I totaled it... :(

5. '89 Burgoundy Opel Kadett Caravan 1.3. had it 5 months, needed a car after I totaled the Spit... 'nuff said.

6. '93 Black Alfa Romeo 33 1.4IE Imola, my current ride, have her for a little over a year now, love everything about this car. Needs a new exhaust though.

7? Late model Porsche 928S.... Need to save up some money.. but that's the car I'm hoping to drive next ;)

Uh...okay. ;)

I use the cruise control most of the time anyway. The only time I don't is when I play with the wastegate noise. :)

1. Citroen GSA Pallas SE - Most people don't know what on earth it is and it takes about 16 seconds to get to 60 but I love it!

Some of you've had weird cars...
- 1980's Cressida
- 1994ish Discovery
- 2002 Altima V6
- 1990's GMC Suburban
- 2002 Mountaineer
- 1999 ML430
- 2002 A4 3.0 (it's actually a company car)

I only own the last two. No guarantee they're in order.

1985 Volvo 240 DL: 4-speed manual; first car I drove in. Not fun, but it was as safe as a car could get. I want Volvo to re-start manufacturing this car, as I feel it should be all driver's first car: , simple, slow, safe.

1989 Mercury Topaz GS: auto; my first automatic and I hated it. Trouble was, that was all I could afford and I got it for $1 from family. Don't miss it for anything.

1998 Subaru Outback Sport: 5/manual; first new car. Learned more about cars (and how clutches can fail) than anything else. Also learned how a car should handle (which this one did quite well, frankly).

2001 Subaru Impreza 2.5RS: 5/m; excellent car, best-handling US-sold Scooby yet. Someone was nice enough to rear-end me and total the car. Bastard....

2002 Subaru Impreza WRX: 5/m; ironically, this is the car I wanted last time, but wasn't quite available. Great so far, and have a $55,000 list of things to do when I get that money....
