Alot of pretty boring and mundane cars.

Lets hear some cars people have made an attempt at modifying.

I bought a Porsche keychain yesterday. It isnt on my keyring yet, but I bought it because I swear to myself that I will own a Porsche someday, even if it is a 1973 Porsche 914 (Which I would love to own anyways!!).

There isnt a Porsche I dont like, or that I dont think was good for its time. i.e. I probably wouldnt buy an early 80's 924 (Sorry Ferdinand!). But other than that, I adore them all.

You guys are damn lucky.

I will not have that many cars because cars are expensive here.

Right now, I'm not able to drive yet but I got a scooter.

A yamaha nouvo.

Sprints from 0-40km in 6.3 sec on half throttle.
(its engine haven broke in yet so I go slow)

I remember that with my WRX. Had to keep it under 4000 rpm for 1,000 miles. :( If anyone has driven a WRX, under 4000 rpm is quite boring.

Hi, I'm Tom! I guess this is my first post!

I buy a car for myself every three years or so. Here's the list...

1984 Dodge Ram half-ton 4x4: I got this as my first car in 1986 when I was living in Florida. It had aggressive styling even by our current standards and loads of power.
1988 Ford Ranger: Purchased new right before I went to college in Washington, D.C. I used it throughout all of college.
1992 Mercury Topaz: I totaled my Ranger on my way to work one day at my first job in northern Virginia in 1992. For some reason, I bought a Topaz. That move was quickly corrected.
1993 Nissan Sentra sedan: Not a huge improvement over the Topaz, but it really got me to where I wanted to go. My first import.
1996 Lincoln Continental: Happily, I bought a dark red Lincoln Continental in mid-1996 as a replacement for my Sentra, which was still running well at the time I sold it.
1999 Mazda 626: I got married in 1998 and soon, kids were on the way. I wanted something a bit more sensible, so I got a basic 626 in 1999.
1994 Honda Prelude: The woman I married in 1998 owned this, so it became the stablemate for my Continental and later the 626.
2000 Mazda 626: To replace my wife's Prelude, and for our newborn baby, we purchased another Mazda 626 (this time a V6) in early 2000.
2002 Lexus GS430: Purchased nine or ten months ago, and replaced my 626. Very quick, nice styling. I'd pick this over my Continental as the best car I've owned.

Very soon (in a matter of days), I'm buying something to replace the 626 V6 because I'm getting tired of its total boringness compared to the GS430, and I'm sick of getting premium fuel for a Mazda.

Here are the cars that I own/owned:

1993 [B13]Nissan Sentra EX-Saloon [Philippine-spec] (1998-2000) (almost an American equivalent to the Sentra GXE) This is my first car, 1.4L DOHC 16 valve 78hp engine, 160 km/h top speed, stock engine, 16 in. wheels w/ Z-rated tires, dropped 3 in., already encountered every problem of the vehicle (engine, tranny, suspension, etc.) except being totaled. I used to call it "the dirt machine" because I rarely clean the car because the weather back there is very unstable. I also frequently drift the car if I feel lazy doing u-turns on a tight streets.

1992 [?DA2?]Acura Integra GS-R [USDM] (2001- ) My first car in the US, frankly, the first time I saw this car I thought it has a B18C (1994 GSR, correct me if I'm wrong) engine, but come to think of it, I didn't know that I posses a jewel, the sacred B17A1. This car has the best balance between perfornance and fuel economy. The engine is completely stock, only mods are: K&N air filter and a Type-R clutch. Before I installed the mods, I raced with a ITR (souped-up) along I-15 from Primm to I-215 in Vegas, it was a close fight (my car doing 143 mph max, and I think the ITR was doing 150 mph max). But at the end I lost :) , but it was fun. My plan is to restore the car as much as possible, but as for now, the story continues.

I just did the calculation on The Chevelle engine. It has a 7.439727 liter engine. I might change my emblem from 454 to 7.44 Liter. :)

1. 1999 white Civic EX 4 door - Sisters car before she went to college. 127hp, no torque. Steering feels very direct and vtec is fun. Current car.

2. 1988 BMW E30 M3. Lachsillber metallic with black leather int. - I spent over a year looking for a decent one. This car was mint. The car was incredible to drive. 195 hp f1 derived high revving 4 cyl. It was basically a RWD integra type r that had torque. Beautiful. Cost 12k. It had a few modifications. Evo cam gear(weakens top end, strengthens low end torque.), turner chip, front and rear racing dynamics strut tower braces. I bought this car in late September, it was destroyed in early October. I large truck clipped its side on a 45mph 2 way road. I had it for about a week. Currently looking for another. Best car under 30k for racing enthusiasts, no doubt about it.

im only 17 and ive still got the same car that i got for my b-day but with all the mods its my favorite car right now and sic i street race and haventgot caught yetim problably goin o keep this car for a while well the car is a 98 integra GS-R and it puts 320hp and 210 lb-ft im very happy with what i created .

1997 White Chevrolet Camaro Z28 M6 - Technically my first car. Only had it for 2 weeks before I gave it back to my stepmother.
2001 Grand Prix White Honda S2000 M6 - Had 'er for almost a year before I had to sell 'er. Parents were no longer helping out with the insurance so I couldn't afford to keep it.
1999 Red Chevrolet Camaro Z28 M6 - I had this one for a very short time. I bought it with the intentions of selling it back to my friend. He was arrested in the car, for reasons which shall remain undisclosed;),and it was impounded and sold at auction where me and my father purchased it. It was later sold back to my friend and his father. He now has the 1999 Z28 and his new 2001 Pewter Z28. Note: I still had the Honda at the time of owning the '99 Z28.
1995 White/Silver Lexus GS300 Touring Edition A4 - The car I got after we sold the Honda. Only reason I got it was because it was cheap($22,000), cheap as fock on insurance, had less than 60k miles, and what I would consider to be an extremely safe car. Still have it.
1997 Red Pontiac Trans Am WS6 M6 - A few months ago my parents started paying for my insurance again so I decided to buy a "project car." I bought it from a kid at the high school who lost control of it and wrecked the front end. Minimal damage was done. Needed new fenders, hood, bumper/bumper supports, and radiator. I got the fenders/hood/radiator from an auto salvage, and had my friend's dad(who does auto body work/painting) sand, paint, clearcoat the body panels for damn near free. The bumper & supports had to be purchased new, though. Anyhow, it didn't last long. Me and my friend Robert(friend who's dad does the car body work) bought and installed a nitrous kit(150 wet
nxsmile.gif
), and blew the motor within weeks. It was fun while it lasted, though. Couldn't get traction for **** through the first 3 gears on those ****ty street tires that were on it. We hadn't installed any safety equipment on it yet(fuel pressure safety switch, window switch, etc) and hit rev limiter in 1st one afternoon while spraying. The car's out at Robert's parked under an A-frame with the motor(what's left of that poor lil' LT1:P) hanging on the A-frame. It's been like that for a while now. We were going to rebuild the motor, but I don't know if I want to anymore. I might trade his Dad for his 1995 Black/tan top convertible Z28 A4, but I'm not sure.

That's it for now. Sometime in August or so I'll be heading down to the local Honda, motorcycle that is, dealership to purchase a '02-03 CBR600F4i. If I get another car it'll definitely be a rsp MKIV.:P I'm tired of ****ing around:D

P.s- Lately my dad's been talking about trading me his '99 BMW 328i for the GS, but we'll have to wait and see(I think he's just yanking my chain). I'd **** a brick if he did it. He averages about 5500 miles a year with it. God knows if I get it I'll put more than that on it in the first few weeks.

Anyway, take care and be safe.:)

There is about a $10,000 difference between those 2 cars. Are you planning on buying either of those cars, or are you lined up to inherit one?

An '84 Supra Auto is next to impossible to modify. The '95 Accord is very easy to modify.

If you have the money for either, I would be getting 100 different cars before those 2, sorry!

That's okay - like the Cayenne, it's a VW, not a Porsche.

I currently own a 1994 Chevrolet Lumina sedan- medium gray metallic. Mint condition. I put on a Tsudo predator polished muffler, an R1 Racingsports double deck aluminum GT wing, 16 inch American Racing Series 86 7 spoke rims- silver, 3A Racing hood pins, TINTMASTERS MOTORSPORTS ( auto shop in Grand Forks, ND) graphics on windshield, red Chevrolet Racing graphics on hood, custom red wire grill, Lite Glow Xenon WHite headlights, racing pedals, racing floormats, and a Sony Xplod cd player. It's not very fast, but it turns heads. I would like to buy a Dodge Neon 4 door next summer.

Normally I wouldn't do this...but I gotta: WTF?!?

Wow. Some of you are quite 'promiscuous', shall we say, for car lovers. Not to mention having bigger budgets than I do. Here's my list:

1981 Honda Civic 1500: 5 speed. Bought new by my father after we moved to the country and his commute went from 15 miles to 45. A fun car, decent build quality, very light. Reasonable handling for FWD. This car survived my teenage years (including rolling it) and was killed in 1991 with something like 300,000 miles on the clock. Rusted to death and beat to crap but still running.

1967 Pontiac LeMans convertible: 326 ci, 2-speed auto. Bought new for my mother in 1967, used by all three of my older sisters, given to me at HS graduation in 1982 with 220,000 miles on it. The only reason it's not a GTO (and worth 5x as much as it is) is my oldest sister turned 16 in 1967... I fixed it up, painted it, replaced the top, and put another 60,000 miles on this car as a daily driver. It's currently sitting in my garage awaiting $10,000 worth of frame-off body restoration. We drive it on weekends in the summer.

1981 Toyota Supra: 6 cyl, 5 speed. Bought at auction in 1990 to replace the Pontiac as daily driver. Got the seats reupholstered, fixed the headgasket. Blew the headgasket again, and cracked the head. Replaced those; blew the headgasket again and bought a 1983 engine with 150,000 on it (it was actually easier to swap than to do a head gasket). This car was an engineering/maintenance nightmare - very hard to work on. Boatloads of torque from the straight six, but a live rear axle made it exciting to drive on anything but smooth roads. Sold it for $500 in 1995 with 240,000 or so on the clock.

1992 Dodge Caravan: 3.0l 6 cyl, auto. Our first new car, bought to replace my wife's 1981 Ford Fairmont Futura (the less said about that car, the better, it had been a gift) when our first child was due. I'm not ashamed to admit my first new car was a minivan - it's performed its duties with absolutely no fuss, it holds a ton of stuff, it's peppy around town and cruises at 80 all day. 80,000 trouble free miles as a daily driver and now that it is garaged and reduced to utility service, it will last for the rest of my life and continue happily doing its job.

1995 Dodge Neon Sport sedan: 4 cyl, auto. Bought new to replace the Supra when the 'van was paid off and our second child was on the way. Access to the back seat of the 2-door Supra was just too difficult with 2 kids. We were looking at Ford Contours, but the Neon was bigger inside, smaller outside, and cheaper. We liked the Neon from the first but really fell in love with it in the first year of owning it. Fantastic handling, decent power even with the slushbox (way more torque than a comparable Civic). I had bought an automatic so my wife could drive it as well; soon we were having to schedule alternate weeks because nobody wanted to be stuck with the Caravan. Power everything and a rare factory leather interior I salvaged from a wrecked Neon. This car was swapped from the stock 2.0l SOHC engine to a 2.4l DOHC out of a Dodge Stratus in 2001. There's no replacement for displacement - it will now scare the hell out of anything with a Honda badge (except turbos) and is an even bigger ball to drive around town. Been my wife's daily driver since 1999, when I bought car #6:

1995 Plymouth Neon ACR sedan: 4 cyl, 5 speed. Bought used in 1999 because I missed driving a standard trans, and because we loved the first Neon so much that we didn't want to share. The ACR is a factory roadrace/autocross package that dominated Showroom Stock competition from '94-'99 until it was legislated out of contention because other manufacturers complained. Even better handling than the regular Neon thanks to very stiff suspension and factory weight reduction. Short gearing and good torque make it very snappy. My ACR had been on display at the Chicago Auto Show in 1995 and it was run at Road Atlanta to represent the Neon in Grassroots Motorsports' article on fun four-doors in 1998. It was a bargain in 1999 with 50,000 miles of excellent care on it. I've added a cold air intake and Mopar Performance computer, which has woken it up further. It's not scared of any naturally aspirated 4 cylinder, and few 6 cyls.

Both the Neons have about 75,000 miles on them and since we love not having a car payment there are no plans to replace them any time soon.

brassman, what Neon are you looking at? I'd love an SRT but really can't justify replacing a car at the moment. If I were you I'd look for a leftover 2002 ACR - whole lotta cheap fun in a sleeper package.

Neon Duke,

Just to play devil's advocate...and since I love Hondas...your badge says that Hondas are the official car for people who can think for themselves, but your footer says you now think all Japanese cars suck because some "assclown" (hilarious btw...pretty funny name) said all American cars suck? You basically let one assclown change the way you look at automobiles? That's not thinking for yourself my friend.

I love all automobiles...I just love anything with an engine!

OH...and btw...careful saying " it will now scare the hell out of anything with a Honda badge (except turbos)" you might find yourself sitting at a light next to an S2000. :)

Peace,

J. in NC

Neon Duke,
I have a friend who owns a black Integra Type-R NA that runs a quarter mile in the 13's!

God I wish I had my Type-R back. :(

You should post a picture of your Neons...would love to see what you've done.

Well, my feelings about Hondas remain - they are the knee-jerk reaction of any suburban male between the ages of 12 and 22 - but the sig line is sarcastic. It's directed at AE86Driver (among others) with his sloppy, disgusting love for anything Japanese and his dislike of American cars just because they are American. Note my review of the Honda product I've owned. My mother also has a 1991 Accord SE that is quite a nice car (other than having novocaine in the power steering).

I have done just that. It wasn't a problem until 50 mph or so. But I paid $5000 for my car and he paid $25,000 for his so I can't say I was very embarassed about it.

Later!

S2000s aren't the end-all, be-all of 4 bangers, jdhnc13. My WRX outruns them pretty easily (yes, I know I have a turbo, but the 2000's HP is much higher).

Gotta love short gearboxes. ;)

I had a Mustang 5.0 with a 3 speed auto in it. Topped out at about 95mph. ;)

I understand...I hate when people are narrow minded about automobiles myself...my Grandfather was a Ford dealer for 26 years...my cousin IS the lead engineer for Corvette...so I have all kinds of automobile allegiances LOL!

Just don't get sucked into being like that yourself because of their remarks.

I have a friend with a blue Neon R/T coupe that is 100% NA and runs mid-13s without any real weight reduction or anything. It's also his daily driver and has 80,000+ miles on it.
You should post a picture of your Neons...would love to see what you've done.
Actually they're quite stock looking. We put yellow skunk stripes (yellow adds horsepower dontcha know) on it in 1996, but that's all. Even under the hood you'd never tell it was a swap unless you know Neons and saw the "2.4l DOHC" valve cover.

http://home.netcom.com/~wil4ds/24nert2.jpg

It looks a little better than that now, and the colors are bad, but there's a pic.

Edit: AltF8, the ACR tops out at about 134-135 (and yes I've had it up there myself) but it takes a mile or two of open freeway to get there. It's drag limited at that point so if I could make more power I could go faster.
