Expert Seasonals at that. I'm not going to get all negative about forced SRF, the AI's characteristics or the 5-7 lap start in last chase the rabbit format. There's nothing we can do about that and frankly I'm tired of complaining about it. I just want to enjoy GT5 and it's cars.

Since the forced SRF looks to be here to stay it's easy to discard these Events if you've become a purist jerk like myself or have gotten so proficient at GT5 driving that they're too easy and boring (not me!).

Several things that have made them more fun and challenging at least for my skill level.
* This has no bearing on the low PP challenge or goal of winning big GT5 credits*

1. Drop down a Tire Grade from the AI at a minimum. Most important in my opinion. SRF makes any tire have more than enough grip.

2. No other aids. No ABS especially. SRF makes no ABS so much easier to modulate/ lockup is easy to avoid. With SRF ON, ABS has become another noob aid (my opinion). There's plenty of GTP info on No ABS B/B settings for inexperienced users.

These will make trying to outbrake and outhandle the slower AI more challenging. If you need the same tires as the AI and any aids I wouldn't consider myself an "Expert". This is the AI we're dealing with not some fast guys from your league.

3. Fully stock vehicles at least for first runs. See how far you can take a stock car into the field. Minimal tuning at most.

4. Driving- Treat the Event like a Track Day with real life cars. No corner contact. Restart if a wreck occurs.

5. Try cockpit view. Turn off the HUD. Less clutter-be in the moment. Enjoy the view.

Like I said, these are things I like to do for my own enjoyment and challenge. And no I don't get too many wins this way, that's not the point. If I want an "Expert" challenge in GT5 it's up to me now not PD.

Cool ideas, on a side note (as it doesn't warrant its own thread), anyone know why Mih got banned? :l

What irritates me the most about it was as boring as the chase the rabbit seasonals were it gave me reason to try out new cars and such. With SRF forced on it defeats the purpose for me because you cant get the proper feel for the car with aides on. If it wernt for the French seasonal for example I would have never put so much effort into tweaking the road version Pug 205. Its really turned into one of my favorite cars to slide around on the track with and I probably use it more then the rally version now.

I have no problems if people want to use it or whatever but please dont force me to use it.

I completely agree with you Bong!
I have simply written off the seasonals. People say "try to make the best of it", and NCR3 suggested a purist approach.
Well... I have been racing that purist style for a year now, and I love it! Makes me feel like I actually drive the real car. Never any aids, never any tuning, just all standard and cockpit view. This is the force of GT5, in my opinion - the extreme level of "fidelity".
I cannot race with SRF on, it just does not make sense. Why would I reduce this magnificent game to "Need for Speed" level?
So... Seasonals are just not for me anymore. Thank god the old seasonals are still there, though!

Agree with the OP. I have been able to do many of the things listed to make them more of a challenge and yes, fun. Even with SRF on, if you crank PP low enough and run on harder tires, they can be made challenging. Plus, the PP adjustment works wonders in matching the event to your very own skill level.

The game is what it is at this point in time. GT5 is old now. Don't expect any more fixes. Don't expect too many new players. Heck, just look at the reduced number of followers around GTPlanet. There are very few daily conversation threads still happening. You can kind of check this site once or twice a week and stay in touch with everything.

sounds like some good ideas. now how about a driver like me, average who just plays a bit on weekends and wants to enjoy the "game" And cant get to grips with srf off on time trials, as a result i dont try them for more then a few runs. solution practice more get better....get wheel...Dont have the time for that.
Now there are events that i win easily and lower different parameters and get my kicks out of it. As u all can do with the seasonals. Time trials for me though and i am sure many others, would be a whole new endeavour.

I just dont get this that u have to have it all. NCRthree has tht right idea.

ps.why dont they make 3 categories for time trials, wheel, stick pad...?

I also have given up complaining about forced SRF events a long time ago. But my personal solution for living with SRF seasonals is to not do them at all. Thankfully, we still have the older seasonal events that have the option to turn SRF off, or if I'm not in the mood for that, I'll just do something else in GT5 or just play a different racing game entirely. I'd rather do that instead of trying to work around PD's backwards decision making.
