Is this the Gran Turismo wheel that PD has been talking about for the upcoming GT5 or GT5P? I thought it was going to be some special wheel made just for the game but I guess not. This looks to be the Logitech G25 and all they did was add a T into the name. There is no difference at all from what I can see. If this is the case then I'm not going to wait any longer and just get a G25. Been putting it off because I was waiting for some special wheel from PD.

I thought they had something special planned. Ah well...

PS: Don't know if this has been covered and I don't feel like reading through 20 or however many pages to find ONE post with the info. If it has been covered, let me know and I will delete this thread.

Its the exactly same G25 wheel. See the original JPN article here.

^^^Oh dude, I forgot to tell you that I'm not Japenese and I can't read Japanese at all. So if this is the wheel that PD has been hinting at for GT5 then there's no need for me to wait any longer since the already available G25 works with the PS3, right?

IMO, yes. If you can wait for a bit, I know there is a Porsche 911 wheel coming from Fanatec to be release in mid Dec for and I confirmed that it is PS3 and GT5 compatible, and you can wait for the review before you decide. That is if you don't mind spending $350 for a wheel.

update: link deleted regarding any information on the 911 wheel as it is a reference to my own blog and will therefore automatically be seen as advertising, use any search engine if you want information on the wheel

Just checked out the link to the Porsche wheel and I don't see anything special about it, to be honest. If anything, it looks cheaper than the G25 and no paddle shifters that I can see. Personally, the only thing that wheel has going for it is the Porsche logo. I'll take a G25 for $100 less, please!

I'm not sure on the reliability of the Porsche wheel, the G25 is pretty reliable isn't it? I have a DFP and I have to fix the pedals every few months. The G25 doesn't have this problem? I want to buy a G25 soon but I'm wondering whether I should wait for them to fix any issues it has for this new wheel.

great to hear. i had a feeling gt5 would use the g25 as the wheel to get with the game or use a wheel thats lower end. Just ordered one myself last week :D

Honestly I wouldnn't buy a new wheel now until they put vibrators in the pedals.
I want to feel the ABS working on the brake pedal and feel the friction point of the clutch. I'm sure it can be done.

If they put force feed back in the pedals of this wheel I'll be lining up for it, otherwise there is no way i'm getting it. Same reason I avoided a G25 and DFP.

Soooo... just to clarify....

There is no GT25 wheel as such (posted on IGN) - it's just that 'Logicool' are now officially releasing the G25 in Japan?

The G25 is now listed under the PS3 section on the Logitech (Logicool) Japan website (listed under 'PC' section in other regions). Can we now take this as confirmation that the G25 will be an 'official' FF wheel for Playstation 3? What are the chances that all FF games will support the G25?

Does the G25 work with GT4 and other Driving Force Pro supported games? And does the D-pad and other buttons on the shifter work with the PS3?

I was also under the impression that Kaz/PD were working on a new wheel for GT. Perhaps, if this is true, then the current wheel should be called G25: Prologue?

1: To this date all ps3 driving games support G25.

2: Yes it will work with all the games that support dfp, but there is not clutch support for older games. And D-pad works with PS3, sifter works with games that have support for it.(NFS and Dirt does at least)

This GT25 seems like joke to me.(it is the same thing)

Yeah nothing special.

I am sure there are many Porsche licensed FFb wheel that is an original reproduction of a 911 leather steering wheel complete with hand stitched leather and is manufactured according to Porsche quality standards, came with 2 separate shift sticks, 3 motor belt drive, wireless pedals, tuning functions with LED display, saves up to 5 wheel set-ups, adjustable ForceFeedback strength during game play and adjustable sensitivity independent from the game.

It is indeed very common. 👍

IGN put the "T" between the G and 25 themselves to make it look like they are reporting something new. Nowhere in Logicool's official document and any Japanese media refer to the wheel as "GT25". It is simply a cheap way to attract readers or they need to find better sources.

search the site yourself.

Thanks for the info. 👍

I'm still using a Driving Force Pro because I was a bit wary about upgrading to a G25 due to the fact it didn't seem to be an 'Official Playstation Wheel'.

I originally bought one of these for GT3:

Then bought one of these because it worked with all the games the GT Force did:

Along came GT4 and all of a sudden the red Momo didn't work (the GT Force still did) :grumpy:. Apparently it wasn't an officially supported wheel.

But I guess if Logicool Japan lists the G25 as a Playstation device I should be safe.

Yep, it's not a real GT5 wheel. It's just the G25. If this wheel was the new GT5 wheel, we would see the typical PS buttons ==> the X, O, [], the triangle and the R1, 2 L1, 2 buttons.

KY did say that the G25 is a good wheel but it can be improved (read it in an article but can't remember which). So, does this mean that he will release a GT5 wheel?

KY already said Logitech and themselves are working on a new wheel to be introduced for GT5 (like the DFP was introduced around GT4P).

Thats what I am waiting to see, if it is not an improvement over the G25 in some way I will just get the G25.

LOL, I think their idea of improvement is simply slap GT's logo on it, so they get a cut of the sales.

I now highly doubt there will be a "brand new" FFB wheel for the GT5 final build. They might change the look of it and add a GT logo on it.

Developing a wheel specifically for a console driving game is not a project that yields high returns. This is why the MS wheel is a POS and they still probably lose money just so people have choice other than playing their "simulator" with fingers, not to mention no other man made machine in this world can use it other than the 360....... The people who got a 360 + the Forza game and is hardcore enough to get a wheel is a very very small crowd.

Given the relatively small install base of the PS3 and traditionally small user base of driving/racing game and will also consider buying a $300 wheel. A totally new wheel just for GT is highly unlikely.

Well, those who are hardcore about racing games wouldn't buy an Xbox 360 just because it doesn't have a good wheel. The MS wheel is a POS, like you said. Therefore, most of the hardcore racers would have a PS2 or PS3. And those who can afford a PS3 would probably buy a wheel if we are into the racing games. I know I would be looking forward to it. The DFP is getting old.

Ok so lemme get this right. The G25 IS capatable with PS3, and you can use the CLUTCH, and the 6 speed shifter??? If this is true I have died and gone to heaven, or hell just as long as they have GT5 and a G25 waiting for me.

Clutch is not working on the demo, but the H-Shift works with zero config needed.

IMO, I think the clutch will work on the final build if not already working for the prologue, but I cannot confirm that. So don't quote me on that.

look at the placement of the pedals. you can't properly heel toe with the G25. think about it. brake pedals on real cars are higher than gas pedals. i'm not saying you can't do it. you're just gonna have a very achy right foot.

Yes the pedal is not totally config properly, but I don't find it especially a problem.

Some sim player will unscrew the brake pedal and add some washers to raise the pedal a little, but I don't find it necessary. While the G25 is not a cheap steering/pedal/shifter combo, but compare to something that cost $500 USD for the pedal box alone, it is an amazing deal.

Not if you're like me and have huge feet. I just brake with the ball of my foot on the brake pedal and blipping the throttle by rocking my foot, pressing down on the accelerator with the edge of my foot. Not really "heel and toe" then, but it does the job.

Anyway, from what I have heard it's relatively easy to do some minor modifications on the pedals.

This is off topic.: I use to play GT legends with the BRD pedals and the DFP.

I messed up that lap. I hadn't played GTL in a long time and I forgot how the track looked like.

I can confirm that the H-shift G25 works with the GT5 Prologue demo but, strangely, the paddles (which do work on the GT HD demo) don't.

I was surprised to find that the G25 is still not listed under the various wheels in the demo – or does it go by another name in Japan? Anyone know what wheel should one choose from the list for the G25 configuration? Maybe the paddles are configurable somehow?

(I'm getting the Nissan GT-R around Suzuka in 2min 9secs in manual mode using the H-shift and around 5 secs longer in auto – but would like to use the paddles, as on the real car, to see how it performs.)

Because the G25 was not launched at the time the demo is available, which still won't be available until Dec 13 in Japan; the very same day of the GT5P launch. Yes, that is no accident. The G25 should show up on the prologue and the clutch should work by then (still don't quote me on the clutch working thing)

Choose the DFP.

The GT-R uses the DSG type transmission, so you should drive it with the flappy pedal, so is the EVO. You can tell what cars actually have a true manual tranny as there is built in shift delay in the demo.

I have been told that M$ were not able to use the DFP or G25 for Forza 2 because PD &/or Sony have an exclusive arrangement with Logitech.

Others have said that M$ wanted control of any Forza compatible wheel so they could make money from selling it.

Anyone care to venture an opinion about these two, mutually exclusive theories?

From what I understand, Microsoft is very tight with not allowing third party drivers for anything, which is why you won't see any Logitech or other wheels.
