Logicool (Logitech) GT25 steering wheel...

If they put force feed back in the pedals of this wheel I'll be lining up for it, otherwise there is no way i'm getting it. Same reason I avoided a G25 and DFP.

Just interested to know what you are using if not G25 or DFP?

But too pay that much for a wheel. I'm having a hard enough time justifying the expense for the PS3 alone(getting it after the holidays).
You passed on your birthday and you are even passing on the holidays?

I'll get the older DFP and be happy...and have money left for the game. heh heh.
I went this route too and while I haven't had an opportunity to use a G25 I am completely happy. As I approach one year with my DFP I still use it any time I play Gran Turismo. Some people complain connecting the cables is too much work for gameplay, but dedicated fans usually never have it unhooked.

The latest model of the DFP doesn't have that problem anymore. Logitech changed the pot meters in the latest model. The G25 doesn't have that problem either.

Oh, that's nice of them. I got my at GT4 launch so old pots for me. Now that you said the G25 wouldn't have this problem...I might actually get one. Can you tell me more about the difference between t he new and old pedals? Thanks!

A very very in depth review of the G25 by SimHQ complete with videos <- search the site yourself.

Yeah, I'm not a little boy anymore. It's time for me to buy my own toys. BTW, I'm waiting until after the Holidays because that's when the rumble is coming back. I don't see any point in buying one now(unless I get a great deal ;) ) and not having the "Shock" :D

I have a DF and for GT5 I'd be very willing to shuck out the 100$ or so for a DFP. But 250$ just makes no sense at all to me for one game.

That's why you just request money. Money is a grown up thing.

I agree. I have trouble spending that much money on gaming when I have a car and house expenses.

I've used both pretty extensively, mounted in a Sparco GT Cockpit. The G25 wheel feels much smoother and it is easier to turn it fast. The brake pedal is significantly firmer and the accelerator seems easier to modulate, particularly giving a much better sense of being planted at full throttle (for some reason the DFP always left me a little unsure, and I'd end up pushing harder than necessary). The pedals don't fit in the GT cockpit as assembled, but can be removed and bolted directly to the baseplate which makes for a pretty nice and stable platform.

I paid about $240 for mine. It's worth it if you have the money but it won't necessarily make you any faster.

Oooo...I have the same unsure feeling with the DFP pedals. The G25 seems very tempting...increasingly so too. Just that I got university fees to pay...$2000/semester. :ouch:

All of the wheels manufactured from Logitech are total pieces of ****. As long as they continue to use gears and plastic parts in their wheels, they will always be subpar. The best FFB wheel you can buy today is from Happ Controls. But that is designed to be used on arcade driving cabinets like Daytona USA and Sega Rally. I have owned one for about a year but still have not been able to use it because the person modifying it to work on the PS3 is quite busy so I just have to be patient.

It's either that, or the new wheel that Frex is coming out with.

Or rhoevers' wheel which costs like 5000 bucks.

I am very sure they have the ability to use better materials (Although what´s the problem with plastic? It can be durable as well, and the gearing works fine as well if you play without being exaggeratingly and unnecessarily harsh on the wheel.) But the big point is that it will be way too expensive. And if you look in this topic that some people are not even willing to pay about 250$ for just a toy, then that´s very sensible and fine. You just have to realise that not everyone wants to pay hundreds, or even thousands of dollars just to get top of the notch toys.

Besides, for the price, you get excellent features and quality to price ratio. That´s something I´m sure a lot of people will agree on.
So when you want to go for the extra durability or quality and are willing to pay thousands of dollars for a steering wheel, be my guest. But don´t twist the reality and say Logitech makes absolutely worthless wheels, while they are in fact very good at that department right now with the G25, if you don´t count the minor things like a not working reverse gear.
I am and will be happy with my G25 because it gives me the quality I expect when I pay 250$ for it.

So, we've got a wheel that doesn't work, a wheel that's not out yet, and a wheel that costs $5000?

I'll stick to my G25, thanks.

very happy with my g25 purchase. works great in gt5:P. still yet to use it in gthd but i have tried it in gt4. Feels great but in gt4 i feel it might be a bit too harsh for tracks like sarthe and nurburing. Not sure why people complain about the strength in gt5p. its stronger in gt4 but i find it at times too strong for some tracks. gt5p strength seems to be decent

The G25 isn't the best wheel on the market, but it certainly provides excellent 'bang-for-buck' when compared to the Frex or Happ gear. Plus if you're like most of the people on the forum you're a GT enthusiast - and the next iteration of GT has been designed with the G25 as the target peripheral so it's bound to be the most 'refined' for use with GT.

I think there will be a new wheel when GT5 is released, the G25 was developed for the PS2 & I expect a new wheel developed for the PS3 when GT5 launches.
So why it may have similarities I doubt the G25 was the target.

It was actually the Logitech Driving Force Pro wheel that was specially designed to use with GT4/Playstation 2. The G25 was introduced as a wheel for PC gamers, hence the clutch pedal. And with the sightings that GT5 will support the clutch pedal too, it´s logical that it will be the wheel that comes closest in being the wheel for the GT games if you consider that the G25 is sort of a replacement for the DFP. Also, I expect that Logitech won´t make a wheel that is even more expensive that is designed for GT5, since that game isn´t just for the die hard fans, but for a very wide public. I also think that when GT5 will come out, the price of the G25 will drop and they´ll sort of make that the official wheel.
If they´ll decide to make a new wheel that is better in quality and features than the G25, than it will probably be too expensive for being fairly new.

Yeah but maybe another version of the G25 , like a PS3 G25 which has all the PS buttons and "a PS button"

That was along the lines of what I was thinking it would be.
I've had my DFP for over 2 years, the pedals were replaced under warranty once & the bushings on the wheel are wore out but it'll work until a PS3 GT5 version is released.

I am not even sure if the new FREX wheel will be compatiable with all pc race sims, let alone a PS3 game.

Any company can make a super high grade FFB wheel and sell it for 1K a pop, not a lot can make and sell a wheel/pedal/shifter combo for $250. If I have $100k to buy car, I probably won't be driving a $20k Honda, but I will never call the Honda as "subpar". By the way, by calling the G25 "subpar" you implied that there is someone who makes a wheel/pedal/shifter combo set that is "par". I am not asking much, name 2 example of such set up that sells for $250USD and is better than the G25.

A basic FREX Wheel(soon to be release)/Pedal/Shifter combo will cost you about $2K USD. Maybe spending $2k on a wheel/pedal/shifter is the ONLY way you "roll" but not all of us.

I agree with all the posts regarding the "cost-effectiveness" of the G25.

BTW, Isamu appears to be 10 years old (nothing wrong with that) & by some accident of fate owns a (non-functioning) Happ wheel. 'Nuff said.

G25 is the way to go. Unless you're rich, in which case you could just go to the track and drive real cars in a hurry.

I use it for GTlegends, GTR2, RBR, LFS, and I've recently tried it with dirt, sega rally revo, and GT5p demo. Good feedback, takes a beating, and the shifter works great in either mode.

That porsche wheel looks decent though. I didnt like the speedster wheel much, but this one looks a whole lot sturdier. lotta options too.

The sega rally revo is a waste of my bandwidth, its wtfness is only beaten by Juiced 2.

i dont see why you bothered with juiced. but uh. sega rally is solid if a little too easy. fun little game like the old ones. the wheel felt real nice in there, you could feel the ruts
