Logicool (Logitech) GT25 steering wheel...

Just tried the H shifter for the first time with GT5:P demo & was very disappointed: although it works OK, it's so flimsy feeling that it's not anything like the feel of a real gearbox. I'm not sure I will use it even when it is supported.

i hope they code some kind of rumble in the wheel when you engage the clutch and change gears... just to give you a better idea of the car, just like in real life you can feel when you're letting the clutch go...

but before that, i hope we do have clutch support in prologue...

Yup, thats what you get for $250USD.

You do know nothing on the market will remotely feel like the the "real thing", not even the $400USD shifter made by FREX. If you have $2k USD to spend you can get something really good, but that would be like saying if you want a better car than an Accord, buy a F430. If you can only afford an Accord, then an Accord is the best you can get. 👍

Thanks for the info.

If you'd bothered to read my previous posts in this thread, eg.:

I agree with all the posts regarding the "cost-effectiveness" of the G25.

you would see that I already agree with this point of view.

This is the first time I've had the opportunity to try the H-gated shifter & unfortunately, unlike the other components in the G25 wheel, the H shifter feels distinctly "unrealistic" & toy-like. It also feels difficult to use because the shifts are not very precise & don't have a satisfying mechanical "clunk" to them, so it's hard to be sure you've really found the right gear.

One other thing I've noticed is that using the clutch pedal really introduces a whole new level of movement & noise in the pedal unit, as the whole unit starts bouncing & clanking around - not good if you're within earshot of your "significant other". :guilty:

I am not trying to defend Logitech here, and yes the shifter is "flimsy" to say the least, but compare to the DFP I had before, the G25 is giant leap and without costing too much. IMO, the pedal box alone is worth the admission, the steering feel is more refined and a H-shifter is present (though not perfect).

I would agree with you on all this. However, a number of people say they are motivated to buy the G25 because it supports gated H-shifting & clutch. Based on my (limited) experience with the H shifter, I would question whether those features, by themselves, justify purchasing a G25. In a real car there is a "feel" to using the clutch & shifting gear which seems to me to be totally missing with the G25.

I would be interested to hear how others, who have used the clutch & H-shifter in PC sims, feel about this...

I to have tried the shifter and found it to feel a bit vague.I hope PD bring out a better version for a GT5 bundle pack.

Gave the H shifter another try today: it really works fine, it's just that it feels (unlike the rest of the G25 components) like a toy, with no satisfying mechanical "clunk" to it. The sequential shifting actually feels a little more "solid" IMO...

I think the H-Shifter can simply be improved with a heavier centering spring. Right now it feels kind of loose, so it feels flimsy.

The wheel for gt5 prolouge is different to the one shown in the pictures in the links in the early postsI have watched an interview with the producer from gt5 on gamer tv and he had the wheel for gt5 and it and it looked more like the driving force pro except it had a large red circuler rotatable button on the right and another black button on the left with a plus and a minus on it and you use these to change settings like brake balance tcs and abs in game while you drive also it had playstation 3 written on it :):) on a silver stripe on the lower wheel support
I WOULD BE VERY ANGREE BUYING THE GT25 WHEEL THINKING IT WAS THE ONE FOR GT5 :grumpy::grumpy::grumpy:

Ummmm. Yes, the wheel you describe is called the Logitech GT Force, and it is made for GT5. However, I'm not sure why you would be "Angry" if you bought a G25 instead? The G25 has a full shifter, and a clutch. Neither of these things are featured on the GT Force. The GT Force is just an updated Driving Force Pro (GT4 wheel), with a slightly bigger wheel, and the knobs you spoke of. That's really it. Oh, and a horn

Therefore, the G25 is still a much more capable simulation setup, and is fully supported in GT5:P, and thus GT5 as well. It's a bit more money, but it's worth the extra $100 if you can afford it.

;)

I am not on about the gt force wheel the wheel I speek of is for made new for the ps3 as it has ps3 written on it and i cant see ps3 written on the gt force. :dunce:
In the programe I was watching the producer of the game said this is the first wheel we have had input in how it is made. Subtle changes in the moulding of the outer wheel to give more comfort and a differnt button layout to the gt25. :):)
The gt25 is a very good wheel but I was saying I would be angree about buying this for gt5 because it is not the one made for gt5 as I would want to make use of the in game while you drive adjustabilty that the new buttons I described in my earlier post will give you. :):)

Why do you keep calling the G25- GT25? Is it just because IGN displayed it like that, or is there a real difference between them(it's not sarcasm)?

I have looked and I can't find a picture to post I know they had the steering wheel setup at the PLAY LIVE event that was at Wembely recently and they said it was brand a new wheel for the ps3.

Firstly. The wheel you describe IS the Logitech GT Force wheel. It was made by Logitech with help from Polyphony Digital (makers of the GT series) for the PS3 and GT5. There is no other wheel made for GT5. The picture Rocket Punch posted is the GT Force for GT5. What you saw was probably an early version of the wheel with PS3 on it before they announced it was to be made for GT5. This happens a lot in early builds where they have to make the product without giving away they're plans for it.

Furthermore, any wheel can be programed to do the same adjustments as the GT Force. You don't have to have that little knob. You can program any button(s) to do the same thing from any wheel, you just don't get a gawdy little red Ferrari Manetino rip off dial to do it with.

If you haven't guessed. I'm going with the G25. It's twice the wheel the GT Force (AKA DFP II) is, for less than $100 more. That may seem like a lot, but for what you're getting, it's quite a bargain.

;)

Does anyone know if the very first original Logitech Driving Force wheel released way back in 2000, will work in GT5?

I'm assuming you are referring to the original Logitech GT Force, that was released along side GT3? The blue and black one that came before the Driving Force (also blue and black). I always wondered about the Driving Force (not the DFP), as it was inferior to the original GT Force (I owned both). I never really understood why they stopped making one, and started making the other.

Anyway, It works with GT5:P. Any FFB wheel that is compatible with PS2 and/or PS3 will work.

;)

Clutch is not working on the demo, but the H-Shift works with zero config needed.

IMO, I think the clutch will work on the final build if not already working for the prologue, but I cannot confirm that. So don't quote me on that.

the clutch doesnt work on the demo? u mean the prologue version? no i think it does

im gonna buy a g25 and ive got gt5p will it work and will all the features be available

Yesit will work and so will all the features, except if you want to change the button assignments you will need to do it under the Driving Froce pro menu (within GT5P options) and the G25 doesn't have a PS button like the Driving Force GT.
