Logitech Driving Force GT or G25?

DFGT works with most PS2 games, since it emulates the Driving Force Wheel.

I've used it on Enthusia, some Japanese drift games, GT4 etc

Just started with this, bought the DFGT since I had some agreed events oncoming and suddenly my G25 let me down.

I do prefer the G25 in general, but had a lot of trouble with spiking on the throttle. (it seems uncommon)
Since the price of the DFGT went down it now seemed the cheapest wheel with good force feedback to have a spare (I know I like to spoil myself).

Tried the DFGT pedals on the G25 wheel, but the mapping till now reversed the break = push not to break, release the pedal to break and it just freaks me out. Doing some more experiments but probably will switch the whole set-up next time I have trouble.

P.S.: I solve the spiking on the throttle by making the cylinders fit tighter, adding some tape. Last time added tape till the cylinders got stuck; after 4 rounds driving with this it did not stick anymore and could be used normally.

What about the G27? is it any good?
If one were to choose, which one should it be? G25, 27 or GT?

Thanks :dopey:

The G25 costs twice as much so I'm thinking that one has to be better. So if I want the wheel for the most realism, should I go with the G25? Can anyone give me their opinion for which wheel I should get for GT5P? Thanks.

If your going to be driving auto & you've made up your mind on going for logitech then go for the official GT wheel & same some cash.

If your considering G25 with manual then IMO you'd be much better of putting in the extra $100 & buying the G27..

The gear shifter will be much better & more realistic, the wheel will turn smooth & it'll feel less of a toy..

I'd be tossing up between a cheap GT wheel or going all out on a G27 if I was you.

I was wondering about a G25/27 or DF GT but You convinced me, I'll go for a G27 since it is actually better + (the G25 is out of stock) ...at least on Amazon UK and the DF GT is...well as you said a cheap GT wheel :dopey: .

G27 = current best choice if you have the money

No... not really, the G27 is a good wheel, but doesn't really compare to the Fanatec GT3RS in terms of quality. Wheel on GT3RS vs G27 = GT3RS Pedals (Clubsport) GT3RS. Shifter(s) = GT3RS.

The G27 is a good wheel but really it is a wheel with alot of reputation and those with the money that don't research, will buy it because of the name.

I have been using a Turbo S for the last year or so and a few months ago bought a GT3 v2. Last week my clubsport pedals developed a fault so I went out and bought a driving Force GT and a Logitech G27.

I had a g25 about 3 years ago and it had always niggled on my mind how the G27 would compare with the fanatec.

Well tonight I did a comparison and the Fantec is in a different league. The fanatecs force feedback is bueatifully natural and feels far more realistic and i was really dissapointed at how notchy and toy like the g27 felt.

Dont get me wrong , the g27 is a brilliant wheel, but it just hasnt moved on any from the g25.

If anything i would say the Driving Force GT is a better choice than the G27. Ok the pedals with the GT are a bit poor but i felt its force feedback characteristics were superior to that of the g27.

If i had to reccomend a wheel based on value for money it would be the Logitech Driving Force GT, for shear pleasure where money is not a concern it has to be the Fanatec by a country mile.

My only grumble with the gt is the the wheel rim itself initially felt a little thin in the hand in comparison to the g27 and fanatec. After a few days of use though I soon got used to it.

jamesscotland73,

Can you elaborate on why you felt the force feedback characteristics of the DFGT were superior to that of the G27? Do you think it's worth it to upgrade from a DFGT to a G27? I've read good reviews about the Fanatec wheels, but unfortunately they are not available locally in my part of the world.

I just felt the DFGT had a more natural and realistic feel to it than the g27. The only downside is the pedals and the thickness of the wheel grip. I just felt it talked to me more about what the car was doing.

If you have a DFGT at the moment and went out and bought a g27 i think you would be a little underwelmed.

I couldn't find a specific forum to ask this, nor did I want to create a new one, so I thought I'd just ask here.

Does the force feedback on the DFGT wear out over time? When I first got mine back in 2009, I remember it being quite stiff when I first used it. Now it seems looser and much easier to turn it, especially after it does its little 900* spin when you start it up.

jamesscotland73,

Thanks for the feedback. I guess I'll just stick with the DFGT in the mean time. The optical sensor issue with the G27 is also putting me off.

Sam48,

The force feedback is powered by a brushed electric motor, and it does wear out with use.
