Do you guys really have nothing better to do than trash a video you found on youtube?

You don't come to the Drag Racing forum too much Schwartz, it is always like this and what I like the call the left overs of the GT5 sub-forum and this is coming from a person who likes drag racings.

Ok I have 2 points. LOL You got me.

No, you have contradicting points.

Granny shifting yes, but why on earth would the guy mention anything about double clutching? Not only is this a video game..(lol), but double clutching was done on older cars, electronics carry over everything now so in any modern, or nearly modern car, would have only an idiot double clutch.

Most heavy duty 6spd or higher transmissions require double clutch to shift properly. Electronics have nothing to do with a manual transmission. Do you even know how to drive a car?

And if you're wondering, I have a class CDL-A license, so I do. :)

Wouldn't you do skip shifting being a commercial driver as you claim? Also with DSGs as well as SMGs(racing) matching the rpm speed of the engine with the transmission speed double clutching isn't of need because it is an inbetween system of automatic and manual transmission systems. Just saying he actually isn't all that wrong, driving double clutch will be a thing of the past soon.

True, you don't need to match the speed of the engine with the transmission, but you want the clutch plate to line up properly with the next gear-shift.

And I've done some skip shifting but, as I've only driven 8 & 10spds, it was mostly downhill. Once you get into the 13-18+ speed transmissions, thats when you do a significant amount of skipping gears during upshift as well as down.

My dad is a CDL driver full time in the lower 48 and Canada so I've learned a thing or two about driving. You have a point about matching the plate but DSG does all the work now days along with other semi-auto transmission, I think that is what the user was trying to get at. Not saying I don't agree with you to some extent.

I'm still wet behind the ears here, got my license about 3 months ago. Definitely a lot harder to get than many would think. He work for a big company or a local OTR shop?

I'm not too familiar with the semi-auto variety tranny; I thought those were only used in high-end sports cars like ferarris or lambos.

Yeah he works for a big company. As far as cars go, that was the case back in the late 90s and early 2000s, but and mid to high end car can be found with it now days. Anything outside the states most times (Manufactures that aren't U.S. domestics). The Cadillac has it but that's about all that does that I can remember here in the states. I'm sure there are others. Also many VWs have DSG systems like the Scirocco and Jetta.

And there's a difference between text language and an acronym. Lol means laugh out loud, brb means be right back... Those are acronyms... Text language is like.. U, l8r, and the other ones the other guy mentioned. That's like saying RSVP is texting language lol..

Ahh hello, qouting a line from the infamous Fast and the Furiuos movie, what Torredo said to Bryan after beating him on that 5 min long race.

Yes, and for some reason I fully agree with both of them lol

Nope my uncle has one in his Challenger. Automatic but the stick is there when needed.

for the record me and my friend only had tire wear on to make it more realistic, as for any thing else like traction control and all that garbage being turned on i can tell you for a fact that it was turned off because only babies use that garbage when doing drag racing and the reson the cars are so evenlly matched is because we pland it and wanted to see which would get down the lane quicker. now while my friend in the video is still new to drag racing i am not. as for using a clutch i would really like to know how you do that on a controller or an old driving force pro wheel that doesn't have one because that is what we wete using and if you don't like the video you don't have to watch it.

In the states the only good cars with good and close to true sequential trannys are Audi/VW DSG and BMW SMG as far as an actual car you will see driven a lot. I can't speak of any high end stuff like Lambos (which are part of VW/Audi or Ferraris. I just don't have access to those cars, LOL! Oop... I used an acronym!

Not literally using a clutch. They term double clutch is done in your gearing and you have to "double clutch or speed shift or skip shift" whatever ppl call it, everyone calls it something different while meaning the same thing. My 11 year old can shift score hitting the rev limiter like someone kept doing. That was horrific.

I understand your having fun so nothing wrong with that, to each there own. You weren't claiming to be fast so no harm. Someone just found a bad DRAG video and put y'all on blast. It's a public forum so if anyone's gonna be on here it's expected.

I was in a room recently where the host turned tire wear on, I forgot and was wondering why my RX7 was starting to hit the limiter...then noticed they were half gone, but I did manage to get a few runs in before I even noticed, was amusing at the time, Somthing different anyway.

@maddog57chevy- Firstly, welcome to gtp. 👍 On behalf of the drag racing community here I'd like to apologise for the criticism of your video. I don't think it was cool. At some point or another everyone here was a noob so pay no mind to those who think they are better cuz they are faster. Like I said earlier, I applaud you guys enjoying the game and doing what is fun to you.👍

And you guys wonder why we are looked down on within gtp? That 🤬 hurt my feelings. If I received that kind of treatment when I started to drag I would have quit and had the same views of those that despise this section of the forum. Some of us really need to grow up. SMH.

Exactly the reason I said pointless thread.

Well said Kenny 👍

As I mentioned before, I have no problem with people enjoying the game as long as it doesn’t offend of affect anyone else... unlike this thread and its title :(

I think we're done here. It would seem that some of you need to re-read this part of the AUP.

You will not behave in an abusive and/or hateful manner, and will not harass, threaten, nor attack any individual or any group.

Welcome maddog57chevy. I hope the rest of your stay is not as unpleasant as this thread was. Most of us are nice...
