This will be so weird now, after 7 years of hype about this it's now over, it was epic though, just all the talk about it will be gone, and GB doesn't have the World Cup to look forward to either. Anyway, on to Rio, for the World Cup and the Olympics.:D

That closing ceremony was a bit random, but I liked it overall. Shame to think the Olympics are gone from London now, back to normality. But it's only 4 years to Rio, that's not that long, and I can't wait!

That closing ceremony was absolutely terrible. The only parts I somewhat enjoyed were the Lennon tribute(I guess that's what you call it), the Pink Floyd tribute and the Queen performance. All the rest was really unenjoyable to watch. I've seen about 10 playes in Vegas that blew that whole ceremony to smithereens. Turned my TV off with a bad taste in my mouth today.

My feelings on the closing ceremony was that it started well, got terrible in the middle and then managed to pull it back round at the end.... much like the pattern with the opening ceremony.

Rio's carnival swagger was awesome, much better than our terrible 'bus' attempt in Beijing. I guess their music and style is perfect for an event like this.

On a side note, were Canada meant to be dressed as Scouts or something? Really sticks out in my memory this morning! Proves it was a good design.

Just pointing out, that is indeed Harrys real name.

Yes I know, I was just saying he should really change it to what he is known as to like 99.9% of the world. Suppose 'Harry' is too informal.

Robin.

I think they're supposed to be Canadian tuxedos.

Did you miss The Who then?

and Muse?

What about Elbow?

Would it have been better surrounded by casinos? :P

The US coverage cut to a preview of some new sitcom (and that didn't have commercials :ouch:) right after the speeches, than came back on for the part with The Who at midnight our time. I was not happy.

So i woke up this morning..turned on the tv..switched to bbc1..and homes under the hammer was on!..then my heart sank!:(

Taking part in the Paralympics:

Alex Zanardi
Alex Zanardi has escaped with his life from the crash at the Lausitzring, but he will never race again," wrote Spiegel Online on 16th September 2001, joining reporters around the world in declaring the Italian's career to be over. This was one day after his horrific crash in the CART series, in which he lost both his legs. "Well, those people just didn't know me back then," says Zanardi, smiling as he steadily screws together his handbike, on which he is about to take to the Lausitzring.

So much respect for him. He is so passionate about what he does and it would take more than an ordinary person to just simply go back to doing what he does best with the added handicap.

Go Alex Zanardi! 👍 handbiking looks EXTREMELY tiring!

Boris anounced earlier that there will be a open top bus victory parade for the medal winners through london on the 10th september..

So what with the Paralympic opening ceremony on tomorrow night i thought this thread could do with a revive!

The ceremony is going to start with a shakesphere bit like the olympic openeing ceremony did..Professer Stephen Hawking will have some part to play and the flame will be carried in to the stadium by Michael Watson..for those who dont know who he is, Michael Watson is a former super middleweight boxer who, during a title bout with Chris Eubank in 1991, suffered devastating head trauma when Eubank hit him with an uppercut and he fell backwards with his head hitting the ring ropes, he got up but collapsed in the ring later..he spent 40 days in hospital and six operations to remove a bllod colt in his brain..but he has raised millions for charity since then and has taken part in the London marathon

I dont know if anyone has confirmed which bands or artist are performing tomorrow but Coldplay were confirmed to play at the closing ceremony a number of weeks ago

I'm quite looking forward to the Murderball wheelchair rugby.

It looks quite fun violent...

So the opening ceremony starts in around 20 mins..coverage is on channel 4 now!..should be good!👍
