Long tracks

But think about how long it would take PD to model a course like that? I'm sure thats part of the reason El Capitan isn't in GT5. It would take sooooo long to model everything.

Dude they live there they prolly drive on some of these roads all the time and he just hired a bunch of people so I dont see what would be so hard about that

There must be more than one long track in this world. Vehicle manufactures must have test tracks of their own.
What about the Isle of man TT track (35 miles). Would love to go around that.
it would great if more city tracks are available

They went through a lot of trouble getting the Eiger tracks into the game. I don't see what'll be the problem with getting some of Japan's mountain roads. But with the hiring of more employees, it isn't known who and how many were hired.

what's the game that has the best version of the isle of man tt?

Probably "Suzuki TT Superbikes".
They only modeled 2 tracks, the TT and the Billown circuit.

But I highly doubt that the TT would work in a car game, too narrow.
There would be no side by side racing, and any mistake would destroy the car.

Would be great for Rallye or (online) time trails or licences

So are those straights like 4miles long??? Wow, looks like a sweet course

Yup, looks like it, the various Targa Florio circuits all shared a straight of nearly four miles, too. It was also (more-or-less) on the sea front, like the longer of the two above. Must be an Italian (/ Sicilian) thing... :dopey:

Not really. There would be no point in modeling the track just for TT's. And 95% of the players would get pissed off because of the lack of road. Coming into Ramsey, Union Mills, and a small section of the mountain near the train tracks would be the only "wide" points of the course. Not a big portion out of almost 38 miles.

It's narrow for bikes, would be a nightmare for cars.

Long tracks would be great as a test of mental ability and material endurance. But since none of that is simulated i find no use for them. THey might as well do a real world roadsim or citysim with real trafic, that would make it at least a bit fun.

29.142 km. Described by Grand Prix Champion Rudi Caracciola as "Track is perfect, interesting and superfast, that is why dangerously beyond Nurburgring."

The longest track to host an F1 world championship race (25 km)

~8km.

What's great about old grand prix circuits was that they were fast, flowing and undulating.

However I feel that there should be short, fast circuits added for GT6 because so long is spent just waiting for corners to arrive on a few circuits. My preference is for lap times around 1:30.

I get very bored by Tokyo Route 246, as well as High Speed Ring, which is a shame because it was great on GT1 and GT2. Although maybe it is because some races feel just too long.

Just came up with another one:

Rouen Les Essarts

That is actually the shortened, slower version of the circuit.

There is also the full length, 6.5km circuit, which has been included in games such as grand prix legends.

Speaking of Grand Prix Legends, the original 14 km Spa-Francorchamps;

Both would be great for slipstreaming duels if the AI was sorted out. Both circuits would never happen though, but I can dream ;)

Rouen Les Essarts will be in Project CARS, two versions including the full version. Not a particularly long track mind you because a lot of it is so fast. Great track though.

There's a lot of pandering to the GPL crowd at the moment - notice how the Lotus 49 is suddenly so popular. It's only taken 14 years for it to sink in.

Not even for endurance races. You can do 1000 miles or twenty-four hours on a four-mile track just as well as a forty-mile one.

The problem with doing endurance races on shorter tracks though is that it can get boring and repetitive. Didn't you hate the Tsukuba 9 hours? :P

All variants of the old Brno Circuit were great, you can drive them even today as they are all public roads.

1. 1930-37 lap length 29,147 km
2. 1949-63 lap length 17,801 km
3. 1964-82 lap length 13,941 km

just give us a proper track creator and all our track problems will be solved[/COLOR]

+1, but driving on one of those legendry long track has a, certain and special, feeling to it, and feel like those mad drivers from the mid-50's, racing bentleys and maseratis. That is something else

A proper track creator does not "solve" anything, even if they did have complete freedom you could never create real world tracks to the same quality that PD could, the tools just wouldn't be there for anything but the track itself.

The more real world tracks the better.

I don't care how good of a track you can make with the editor. It can't replace a real track. I would kill to drive on the old Hockenheim or Monza circuits (though not quite as long as others posted here), but it's not something I could simply replicate with a track editor.
