I will list the events as I do them to show the order that has been followed.
Cars will be listed as they are won/bought as well as the mods done when needed.
Only cars won/bought in this installment (75 to 100%) will be listed.

Dirt tyres for the KTM Xbow

INTERNATIONAL B - DIRT TRIALS
Car: KTM XBOW
Mods: None
Note: This is probably a very bad choice of car. The power is only delivered at high RPM which you hardly ever get into.... I don't know what I was thinking.
Race 1: Easy.
Race 2: Very Close. Took a couple of tries.
Race 3: Very Close.

BOUGHT: Racing Kart 125 shifter $10000

INTERNATIONAL A - GT KART CHAMPIONSHIP 125 SHIFTER
Car: Racing Kart 125 Shifter
Mods: None

Note: As before, with karts it is all about gentle turning. The short wheelbase makes it easy to spin them if you stomp the gas on exit. This is a bit harder with the 125 shifter. You need to know the circuits quite well.
Race 1: Very Close.

INTERNATIONAL B - HISTORIC RACING CAR CUP
Car 1: Corvette '59
Mods: Racing Hard, Supercharger, Stage 3 tune, Catalitic converter. Total $97500
Car 2: Toyota 7
Mods: None but the car cost $1,950,000
Threw good money after bad on this one. Won the 1st race with the corvette but it was a bit of a waste as ended up buying the toyota 7 after getting beaten badly in the other races and deciding to kill '40 birds with one stone' (read. used it for all the other races that needed a super fast car)
Race 1: Won by the slimmest of margins with the Corvette.
Race 2: Walk in the park with the Toyota
Race 3: Walk in the park with the Toyota

INTERNATIONAL A - LIKE THE WIND

Car: Toyota 7 '70
Mods: None for the first two races. You could possibly win without mods on the 3rd if you time the drafting perfectly, but after about 10 second place finishes with the narrowest of margins (as little as 0.002) I gave up and threw in the High RPM turbo for an easy win. $24,000

Race 1: Very Easy. Max speed to 380.
Race 2: Very Close.
Race 3: Easy. Once you throw in the turbo and set the max speed to 440kph (maxxed out) the car will do 417kph for most of the race. This is 5 kph faster than the GT and 6 faster than the Veryon giving you a very easy win.

Alternatively if you didn't want to buy the Toyota 7

INTERNATIONAL A - LIKE THE WIND - REVISIT
Car: AMG VGT
Mods: RH and Turbo 3 from Before + Transmission $20000 + Engine Stage 1 $5000

Race 1: Easy. Max to 390 kph. Do not need the Engine Stage 1 yet.
Race 2: Close. Max to 460kph. Need the engine tune because of the turns (need more low end power).
Race 3: Easy. Without the engine tune the car tops out at 407kph without drafting. This is enough to beat the very on by a second and a bit. Remember to keep to the 'high' lane on the turns as the veryon sticks to the low lane and looses a second or so on the last turn. With the engine tune the car tops out at 417khp.

Sure looks like the Toyota 7 is the one to get.

Question: Does the Audi Sport Quattro come with dirt tires or do they have to be purchased? Thanks.

Save up for the 2J.

You could get something cheaper for the '79 races. I think a fully tricked cobra could do it and it would be <$700k.
For the others you can then try your luck with modding the Diablo (Int b all stars prize ), say maybe $200k worth. If it works you would save almost $1000000 compared to buying the Toyota 7. The biggest unknown would be the last "like the wind race" you really have to be able to maintain 410+kph to not rely on drafting to win.

I have a gamesave at 69%, just before I bought the racing hards for the VGT. I am kind of tempted to load that save up and see if it is possible.

As for the Audi, sadly, it comes with Racing Hard tyres....

It costs more than double than the Toyota 7, which can do the races just fine.

I was going to check on this later because I was sure the 2J cost more money.

............

lol The Cobra is my favorite car. :D Might give that a shot. I'm at 83% with no money spent and still have plenty of races that should be doable.

I had my R8 LMS going 420 kmh (261mph) at full slipstream in the third LTW race, so it is faster than the Veyron under slipstream which I was able to get 2nd with; but steering is off putting when the stream doesn't want to let you leave. I'm kind of wondering what will happen when the Red Bull events get unlocked: the prize cars might come in handy.

Sure looks like the Toyota 7 is the one to get.

Well, just out of curiosity I just did it with the Charger Challenger RT 70 Race Car (not the prize one but the one you buy).
As long as you don't get a 2j or T7 in the lineup you can do it stock (with DF to max and Max speed to 300kph). If you get either you will need to drop in the supercharger. So it can be done for $195,500 (Car + Supercharger). That is waaaay cheaper than the T7. I don't think you can do all the other races I did with the T7 with the Charger Challenger, definitely not the last Like the wind race. I might try modding the Diablo or the Aventador (which you have to buy anyway) or even the Citroen GT and see how it goes. The GT is one of two cars you have to beat in the last Like The Wind race , the other one being the Veryon.

I only got a T7 and a 2 2Js in Silverstone. Here is the last lap... Only minor blocking needed in the final straight. The rest of the lap I just stuck to the racing line... :-)

Getting over 410kph while drafting is not a problem. The T7 does 440kph and even the Jeff gordon can do 415 (if I remember correctly) the problem is that the finish line is relatively close to the exit of the turn and you need more distance to build the speed up and overtake. AND because as soon as you leave the slipstream you start loosing speed quite rapidly you need to time the slipstream perfectly... which I could never manage (tried about 30 times)

Might i correct something in your first sentence? That is not a Charger that is a Challenger R/T race car '70 just letting you know.👍

Made it to 90% with 0$ spent (but that includes about 3-4 % from Seasonals which are also doable without spending money XD). With the right settings the NASCAR car is challengingly competitive in a lot of races: did GT500, 550pp, and Dream Car today, and will try World Championship tomorrow.

I'm also trying to get as far as l can without buying cars. As with all the GT titles it pays to get Golds. I thought l was doing well getting to 45%. I'm impressed with your 90%.
Do you have any tips for a fellow GTer to reach 90% without a purchase.
:-D

I did pretty much the same thing as Mr.Slow up until he bought RH tires for the AMG VGT. He did so in order to get half the stars for IA races which gets you the NASCAR car prize car. I on the other hand ran all the races I could because there are enough races in IA to run races and get single stars by getting last place. You can then use the NASCAR car to complete a lot of the races. I used the NASCAR car to get far enough in the GT World Championship to unlock the S License Test which allowed me access to the S Races: most of the S Races can be done with the RedBull Junior with the proper tuning and practice. Only the 24 minute Le Mans race is keeping me from getting all the stars in the S Races.

As of right now I am at 91% with four main races left that I can enter [there are several for which I must purchase requirements: karts, dirt tires, one-make races]: 1) Historic Racing Cup [might try buying Challenger Race Car]; 2) Like the Wind [might try better tires for GT Citroen]; 3) GT World Championship [might try an oil change on my NASCAR car]; 4) 24-Minute Le Mans [GT Citroen with RH?]. I'm still in the speculation phase, trying to figure out the cheapest combination. If only the Toyota 7 had been a prize car! :mischievous: I was hoping to get the newest versions of the Red Bulls, but that will not happen until Jan 31st.

Good to see you are trying the 'no buy' approach 👍👍

I managed 69% at which point I bought RH tyres for the AMG VGT. That single purchase got me all the way to 84% at which point I bought the Toyota 7. I must admit that I was quite tired when I did so (had been playing 8 hours straight) and it was a moment of weakness. But the T7 does get all four races Hastatus listed above done without a problem…

The only advice, if you can call it so, I can give besides using the cars I listed is that I just discovered this morning that I might have been playing with SRF on all along. I am not sure I was but it after doing some testing it kind of explains certain 'mmm… this car is grippy' moments I noticed during the races. Most people claim a 3 second reduction in lap times when you turn it on. For some races that is about enough if you are using prize cars….

4) 24-Minute Le Mans [GT Citroen with RH?]. I'm still in the speculation phase, trying to figure out the cheapest combination.

After I did the historic race with the challenger I tried doing the 24 minute of LeMan with other prize cars (that are not the T7). I tried different tuning and other upgrades. So far the best result is 12th by 24 seconds with the red bull junior doing 3:5-4:04 laps (and not stopping)

Some more tinkering with prize cars on the 24 minute of lemans:

Audi R8
Mods: Turbo $23000, Engine 3 $52000
Tuning: The biggest problem with this car is that is a squiggly beast under brakes. I dropped the rear to the lowest, stiffened the rear springs to max, changed the brake bias to 5/10, got rid of the toe in and added ~100kg ballast to get the weight 50/50. So it finally brakes in a straight line.
Result: I can do 3:52 laps semi consistently. Everynow and then the car catches me off guard though. The biggest problem is that you have to refuel every two laps and it takes longer than the 20 seconds or so you saved over two laps (compared to the Redbull).

Rocket 07
Mods: Everything and the kitchen sink (nitro) !! Total $218000
Tuning: Transmission to 380KPH, Camber to 2/2
Race: After a few tries I realised that the trick is to force a 7th lap. Sometimes you get a lineup that pits on lap 1 and 5 (I think) but sometimes you don't. So by keeping your laps under 4 minutes you force a 7th lap.
I used the nitro only on the first part of the long straight. This means that you only get nitro for 4 laps and a bit. I used the last 'bit' on the last lap.
Result: I finished 2nd by 3.252 seconds. Fastest lap was 3:51 and slowest lap was 3:58.I had 4 or so penalties for hitting other cars and spun once (which cost me 3 seconds in that lap). So I think it is doable…but after 3 hours of trying I have had enough for today :-)

Ok finally cracked it with the Rocket '07. Need to use racing softs instead (add $9000)

Rocket 07
Mods: All power mods, transmission, Racing Soft, Total $227000
Tuning: Transmission to 380KPH, Camber to 2/2
Race: Cleap it clean and keep the laps <3:54 (gets faster when it dries up). As before use the nitro on the first part of the long straight. This time though I made sure I had enough for the last lap (did not use on lap 3). The opposition is between 4 and 8 seconds faster per lap.Make sure you get out of their way when coming. They are faster, you are winning on strategy, give them the racing line and save yourself heartache!
Result: First by 23 seconds. After the first pit stop (lap 3) took first place by 3 seconds, at the end of lap I was 3rd by 5 seconds. On lap 6 they slowed down a bit and pitted 13 seconds in front. When they came out I had a 27 second lead.

Nice.

I finally managed to gold 4 out of the 5 races in the GT World Championship with the stock Stock Car: only Race 1 seems impossible due to all the straights. It only took me couple thousand miles on this car so far. I can't seem to get faster than 2.05.xxx's. I'm going to see if I can do this race with another car.

Those two things must be opposite: stiffen FRONT springs and change bias to 7/3. Then try again

Apart from a basic understanding of camber settings I really just fumble around with the rest of the suspension settings. :dunce::yuck:

I thought about asking someone to help with the tuning of the R8. Have you tuned out this car?

Well I managed to gold every GT World Championship Race (Individually) with the 2013 Jeff Gordon #24:

Mods: Full Downforce for every race.
Race 2: Laguna Seca - Transmission 168 mph - Rabbits: Nissan R92 CP / Pescarolo C60.
Race 3: Spa - Transmission 174 mph - Rabbits: Nissan R92 CP / Peugeot 905B.
Race 4: Silverstone - Transmission 174 mph - Rabbits: Mercedes-Benze / Pescarolo Courage.
Race 5: Nurburgring - Transmission 199 mph - Rabbits: Pescarolo C60 Hybride.
Notes: Will likely have to do some bMust block cars on the long straightway or they will fly past you.

Mods: Purchased an Oil Change for 250$ which boosted HP to 892 [from 849] and PP to 627 [from 620; by the time I got gold my HP was down to 887 and PP was down to 626].
Race 1: Mount Panorama - Transmission 205 mph - Rabbits: Mazda 787B / Pescarolo Sport.
Notes: In this race you MUST draft as often as possible. Missing an opportunity to draft can cost you the race. Most intense race I've done yet.

Now I have to see if I can gold the whole championship with what I've learned and get lucky with alternating rabbits like Mr.Slow did. ;)

I went back and tried the Stock car at Mt panorama. I can do 2:03.xx laps 2 out of three laps. but it really depends on the lineup. I was doing 2:03 laps but still finishing 2nd or 3r by about 4 seconds.

Then I decided to try another car to take a bit of a break and used the Enzo with Racing Hards. It is fast down the straight but braking is a dicey proposition (you have to start braking before the kink). I was doing 2:04 laps but still won thanks to the lineup. There were about 6 cars which stuck to each other most of the way. So if you can choose the lineup it should be the one with these in:
Pescarolo C60
R92CP
905BEvo
Xrj9
787B

They seem to be as fast as each other and keep themselves occupied.

Apart from a basic understanding of camber settings I really just fumble around with the rest of the suspension settings. :dunce::yuck:

I set up all my cars in all racing games. Try what i wrote

Thought I would try something similar on my 2nd account. I've reached 58% and my current credits are 7,289,928 and my total credits earned are 7,276,928 meaning obviously that I've only had to purchase the mandatory Honda Fit. Total cost of tuning of course is 0. I'm on 325/573 stars and have reached IA licence. 114 races with 108 wins, But now i'm at the wall. There's no races that I can enter and win unless I either tune or buy specific. Has anyone got any tips for getting higher than 58% without spending a single credit?

I suggest you check on parts 2 and 3 of these threads and compare the events you have done against the lists. In the threads the events are in the order I did them so in theory you should be able to get to 69% following the threads. Then you have to do the variation that Hastatus did, namely not buying the RH tyres for the VGT and scraping by on the GT world championship to unlock the Super races.

Unless you have a specific event in mind….

Thanks for the tips, I must admit I didn't fully read through your descriptions first time, oops! Just managed to complete 2 more series, that classic muscle car series was tough, really annoying how the Stingray concept maxes out at 126mph!! Took a few attempts.

*edit*

Right, I think I have peaked at 62%. Try as I do, there's some races that I just can't gold such as the rain master races, my Ferrari 430 or Merc' vision just isn't cutting the mustard against the Huayras, F1's and Veyrons! Same with various other high PP races and I don't want my win to race ratio to start plummeting!

What I didn't mention earlier is that I actualy have all the anniversary cars and the temptation to use them was always there but then I would have failed to prove to myself just what I could achieve without spending a single credit beyond the Honda Fit purchase.

So now I will set a new personal challenge. From 62% using just the cars I've won, how much further can I progress using the anniversary cars? I'm sure there will be some people out there who would like to know this or try it for themselves so I will update from time to time with how it's going. I'm still going to stick to using absolutely zero credits so obviously I can't do the rally events that require dirt tyres or the karts for example.
