other high PP races and I don't want my win to race ratio to start plummeting!

I think win/race ratio is a casualty of a $0 approach. As Hastatus mentioned earlier it took him close to 2000 miles to win the GT World championship races (individually) with the stock Nascar car. If you consider that most races are ~16 miles it makes you wonder what his win/race ratio looks like :-)

My math if you average each race at 16 miles you would end up with 25 time to do all 5 races to get to 2000 miles. And who cares about the W/L ratio?

 My win ratio is currently 387 losses and 203 wins according to the game. But they're all wins in my book. The more losses you have, the better racer you are because it means you are relying more on your skill than the vehicle's performance capabilities all the while testing both your and the car's limits to the extreme.

BTW Since my arms were getting tired from all the NASCAR car road course driving and since I couldn't stand the 24-Minute Le Mans being the only race in the Super class that could not be done with the RB Junior so I went ahead and cheated(?). I decided to take the cutting penalties and won the race by over 45 seconds. So it cost me nothing. :D I was doing laps of 3.47-3.53... But I know it's not really legitimate: maybe PD should up the penalties.

Tsk tsk tsk….

I did wonder about the penalties when using the McLaren F1 as I would overshoot the braking points. Once I just drove straight through the first chicane in the long straight. I thought I came out much farther ahead even after the penalty but wasn't quite sure. Now you have confirmed it….

If anyone is wondering it looks like the Super class prize car: quattro S1 Pikes Peak '87 can do anything the NASCAR car can do. I just tried GT World Championship Mount Panorama and easily won with good 5-6 seconds better lap times than the Stock car. This is my new favorite 4WD car, it handles like a dream! PD saved the best for last. :D

EDIT: I was able to gold the Championship and all 5 races in the first try. Laguna Seca and Nurburgring were a 'walk in the park' while the other three were very close because the cars can easily draft by you but you should have enough distance that the rabbit only just catches up to you before the turns. I had downforce as low as it would go and the car still sticks to the road. Even when the other cars ram into you, you will not lose control in most instances. This is definitely the cheapest and easiest way to complete the GT World Championship.

[As a side note: the Quattro is also very capable to getting 1st in the first LTW race; much easier than the AMG VGT because you don't even have to let off the gas very much and you definitely never have to use the brakes.]

Just for Kicks I decided to try the RB Jr at Mt panorama (GT World Championship). Downforce to Min, Max to 320kph, Final gear to max and Racing hards (as required). Managed to do 2:04 laps and won by 0.300 with a long train of cars behind me.

If you want a test of your reflexes, this has to be the race for it. The car has lots of grip so it is a matter of making up time in the turns and loosing it in the straights.

Last lap video…

I've gotten 3, 5, 10 second penalties on the same corner. It all seemed to depend on how fast I was cutting said corner.
The chicanes on the La Sarthe straight, if you cut them at the right speed, the penalty was only 3s and it expired by the time you even got out of the sand.

Hmm, good question. What PP rating do you think it will have?
Doubt it will help you get further than 69% without spending $$.

Don't know but I'd say mid 500s for the PP. It would be interesting to see if it comes with RH tyres, although the AMG VGT didn't and that was around 600PP.

You can definitely go higher than 69% as Hastatus did. He got to 90% by going a slightly different route. Luckyly I have a 69% game save, I might load it and do what he did, just becozz… :-)

I just wanted to compliment you on a really awesome series of threads. I've followed your "Look ma, no credits" threads since GT4 with increasing interest and have really been studying it a lot with the release of GT6. I wondered if you would consider summarising your findings of the cheapest way to complete the game when you reach the end?

I'm not sure if it's helpful, but I've been creating a spreadsheet with assorted game info as I've been progressing that you're welcome to use if it helps. Big thumbs up to you for all your work :sly:👍

Thanks for reading ! 👍

I have actually thought about it. I have about 50 pages of notes (I write down every single race I do) which were not too hard to follow when I was doing the events in almost in the same order as they are available. But when you get to about 80% there is a lot of back and forth (win a car, go back and do a race with it that you could not do three license classes ago) and a lot of 'try this car then that car then back to the other one with this suspension settings, etc'. It gets confusing enough I have just given up trying to find the previous results/settings on a couple of races.

So I can only imagine what it is like for the more casual reader.

I have also started thinking about doing a "no driving aids" game since I found out the other day that I have been playing with SRF on all along and having an unrelated but intense argument on another thread about dashboard view vs bumper view.

In my head these two runs could/should be summarised for the more casual reader in the form of a 'cheat sheet' or 'cookbook'. The list would include all of the (prize) cars you can use for a particular race and not just the ones I happened to have used.

I liked your spreadsheet .👍 I might play around with it what I can come up with.

...way to complete the game when you reach the end?

BTW I have reached the end already. I haven't updated the main post because after 94% it was just a matter of buying a few cars for the one makes, karts, etc and there were only the coffee breaks to do without spending money. But thinking about it I probably should….

A brief update. My progress is going well since I hit the wall and used the anniversary pack. On top of that I have done the seasonals and my credits are now over 15,000,000! There's still a long way to go and soon I will have to purchase upgrades and specific cars to complete it. Once completed I will do a more comprehensive post of what it's cost and what cars were used.

OK. Here is the first draft of the 'Cook Book'. I have gone for a log type of approach and tried to make it as simple as possible.

Currently there are two sheets. The first is just the list of cars. The Second is the cook book for an aids assisted run.
The way to read it is pretty straight forward. The first column gives you the order in which to do things. The second column tells you what is it you are doing (buy, mod, collect, race) and the other columns are pretty much self explanatory.

I have not added the key for "easy, very easy, etc" yet. I will also add a bit of an intro at the top of the worsheet soon.

Feedback appreciated.

Looks very promising. Some suggestions.

1) You probably should explain what you mean by "using aids" when you create your intro [in most instances I did not find that your results differed from my non-use of aids until you got to a few of the the IA Races].

2) I would shorten the Willow Springs name in line 16 (cut out 'International Speedway') so you can narrow the column.

3) Put the Cost column before the Notes column and increase the width of the Notes column: your notes are one of the most important features, so give them some room to breathe.

Excellent set of threads Mr.Slow 👍

I also have a suggestion. Change the title of this thread to "Look Ma, I've spent all the Savings!"

1) Definitely will explain in the intro. My idea is to eventually have more sheets and each sheet will have its own intro. Initially I am thinking of a "no aids whatsoever" sheet and maybe a "endurance races primer"

2) I was wondering about the track names. I went for the full name for authenticity but I wasn't sure if the full name was really needed.

3)Easy enough.

Good work, Mr Slow. I've been following the threads with interest and I'm now at 75% with no money spent except the obligatory Honda. I did use some of the Anniversary cars early on but I don't think it gives much of an advantage. The biggest hurdle was collecting the half stars in IA to get the NASCAR car. Once I got that I did the GT World Championship, got the S license and it all became easy again. I almost gave up on the GT World Championship after being completely thrashed on my first few attempts only to realise I still had the power limiter set to 70% from the NASCAR event.:dunce: I've only attempted 3 of the S class races so far but they were ridiculously easy with the RB Junior. I'm going to continue with the tightwad approach for a while but I'm looking forward to spending the 20M I've accumulated.

Updated the cookbook.
- Added the intro
- Added color coding for the activity to break up the list and make it easier to find the receiving of cars.
- Added more races

Well, with update 1.03 if you use the RB Jr, ALL THE OTHER CARS are RB Jrs….. which makes the race (any race) a complete gimme as you know it is dead easy to beat the AI when everybody has the same car. I just did Suzuka 10 lap . Will check on the rest later but the bottom line is that if you had done it in 1.03 you would not have cheated :-)

Spa, Nurburgring and Silverstone are the same. No need to pit, no need to drive well. At Spa I accidentally pitted twice, getting caught up in the pack at turn 1 in the dark, not paying attention and following them into the pit lane, and still won by over two minutes.

I'm just waking up so I have to get my head around this. To PD: If you enter any S race with the RBJ all the other cars are also RBJs...why? Is this true in IA races with RHs too? Well, well, well...:mischievous:

BTW, Mr. Slow, I like how you divided up your spreadsheet with various colored rows. I was going to mention something about doing something like that at a later stage but obviously you know what you're doing. 👍

Not only are they all RB Jnrs but they are driven incredibly slowly and seem to pit whenever the weather changes. It's almost impossible not to win.

If it rains it is a snoozefest. Silverstone was the only race it didn't rain and the ai didn't pit. Won by 30+ seconds.

In SPA and LeMans you can even use the GT5 time honoured technique of waiting by the finish line!
