To these ghost cars, do i simply press triangle, and if the "Sell" option is not available is that the one i delete in 1.05? I've deleted my DLC Cars, except the racing car pack. Please let me know, how to recognize a Ghost car, in detail please.

I'm kinda late to the party here but can anyone tell what ghost cars are in common? I'm wondering if its only a few select cars that are corrupted or is totally random?

By knowing what cars others are deleting, it'll help others identify their own "ghost" cars.

I haven't had this issue but its good to know you folks are on top of your game, good work!

The excalamtion one are not installated cars. Are DLC cars not installed yet.

A ghost car don't have any signal.

U must go to 2.09 and select cars(show button) one by one
The one that u can't select is ghost
Than go to ver. 1.00 and delete:tup:

I have another question. Since my save was fine after the update and only broke yesterday could that mean my problem car is a purchase I made the day before it broke? Hope not it was an Audi Lmp from the UCD at 3.7 million.

your savegame aren't broken or crashed. Is the game with the last update that cant read the ghost car from your savegame.

Can be a premium, standard or DLC car. Dont worry about the cars. You car buy a new one. 👍

Yep it works in 2.09 and it wasn't a recent purchase so i'm going to have to sell or remove over 300 cars(don't worry i made a backup first)

Ok now i'm stuck. I was able to get rid of everything apart from a Zonda lm race car and a C4 WRC both set to online and a gt-R GT academy special. Now what should I do? dont want to start all over again


EDIT: looks like my install data may have just been corrupt. I updated back to 2.10 after I didnt find any ghost cars and it worked! Just installing the game now so fingers crossed it still works after that.

I prefer the term "stuck" car as it's more descriptive... the car will appear in the car list in the garage to be a normal car but you'll know if it's stuck because as soon as you click on the car icon nothing will happen. You just get returned straight back to the garage list view. You can't view it at all, you can't share it and you can't delete/sell it. You can't even get to the sub menu where those options are.

It simply can't be selected, period. Its a dead car.

N.B. I've uploaded a short video to show my stuck car, its the Land Rover Range Stormer Concept '04 that I won from the IA licence test. (In the vid I'm currently "in" the car, but I got into it in 1.05 before the car got stuck, in the vid I'm at 2.09 and the car is now thoroughly stuck).

Notice I can select/view/sell the cars around it, but the Range Rover I can't do anything with it. In 2.09, it's "stuck". I can do those things in 1.05, but not 2.09.

switched background to default music default turned off favorites bought and changed into dealership car.

i go back to 1.00 stuck at gt mode home screen cursor wont move

same for 1.05

is there something im doing wrong here ?

Read the post above about how to find the corrupted/stuck car, you need to delete them in 2.09 before going back to 1.00.

Thanks chug for posting that video. I was going to suggest that someone do this as I myself have no way of making videos. This should really help some people out now that they can see exactly what they are looking for and how to get rid of the offending cars.

To the rest of you that are waiting for a patch. I have said this before and I'll say it again. I really doubt that PD will come out with a patch for this. The reason is that it is not something that the update directly broke. The undeletable/unusuable cars were already on our saves and were the result of something totally unrelated to the update. All the update did was highlight an already existing problem that is not the result of anything PD did. I believe these cars simply became "glitched" because of something happening during the save process when these cars were aquired. The update just highlighted these cars in that the PP of these cars could not be updated due to their unusable state.

I hope I'm wrong and PD does come out with a patch for those of you still having a problem, but I really can't see it happening. I say this because I have read various comments here and in the News Section of people saying that they are just going to wait for a patch. I just don't think its going to happen.

The fix is not really that hard to do if you just take your time and follow the tutorial carefully. Yes, its time consuming and a big headache, but unfortunately, I think thats the only way you are going to get things working again.

If anyone has any questions, feel free to ask here as there are alot of people that will gladly help you, me included. It sucks that we have to go thru this, but unfortunately I think this is the only way you're going to get your saves back and working again.

I agree with this. I believe that when the game saves data to a file on the HDD i.e. a savegame it generates a checksum of all the data contained and appends it to the save. When the game loads the savegame it generates a checksum of all the data it finds, checks it against the previously generated hash and if it matches all well and good, if theres a mismatch it'll spit out a "corrupt data" message. Its both a protection against data corruption during the saving process and a deterrent to casual hackers. Try modifying even a single bit of savedata and see what I mean.

But the gamesave with the bad car/data has a valid checksum, so the data must be corrupted while its stilll in PS3 memory, either by a glitch in the PS3 hardware or a bug in the code. Either way, I believe it's PD or Sony's problem rather than the user's.

Second, I think that it might be helpful if all people who's gone through their list to find the broken cars will post the list of the broken cars here. This might help to understand which cars to try (unless it's random)

Glad to see you guys got things fixed and rolling again. Happy to see people being able to get their saves back in working order.

@yossigab: I believe the cars that suffer from this are random. I have seen different cars listed as having this problem which leads me to that conclusion. For the record, mine happened to be two NASCAR cars. A 2010 Carl Edwards and a 2010 Kyle Busch, both in 0/0/0 condition.

As for a patch being released to fix this, I hope that PD does put one out, but I serious have my doubts that they will. If you are still having a problem, I would just go ahead and fix the problem according to the tutorial. If you back up your save beforehand, you shouldn't be worried about losing anything if something does go wrong during the process. I agree it is a big headache and is a time comsuming process, but I think you will be waiting a whole lot longer for a patch.

Thats why you didn't this step

3. Go to your GT world menu and select “My Home Settings” select “Design Options” and change the background color to the original blue and your background image to the first as well.

The stuck cursor in home screen in 1.00 is for incompatibility between 2.09 and 1.00/1.05 background options.
