Lotus E20 launch

Everyones said 4PM UK time, but I've got nothing.

Autosport should have something going by now but they don't. Weird.

So exactly the same car with a broken nose  they could have done the black and gold slightly different also it still has those horrid red total endplates!

The angle of that nose looks better than that of the other mallards so far. The gradient isn't as steep.

Boring colour scheme though.

I like the nose, reminds me of Hispania's F110. The livery is very dull though.

It's not JPS. We know it's not JPS. They know it's not JPS. They're only fooling morons who wouldn't know a Benetton B195 from a Ligier JS41 (!)

Go for something different...

Another cigarette design?

They've been illegal for 6 years now. And I don't think that colour would work on its own.

Why have they got Johnny from 5th gear hosting this?

Big dandruff shampoo and deoderant sponsors, are they trying to say something!

I can barely see any changes in the car. The livery looks awful once again, they should have gotten rid of the red endplates as it clashes horribly. The nose isn't too bad on this one. Overall it looks like a good/pretty car but the livery really doesn't do it any favours.

Another car built in part by a fat man who sat on its nose. Still McLaren who appear the only sane men so far.

Unless 'Kimi Raikkonen's' Lotus doesn't suffer from this deficiency.

Did you watch the James Allen's explanation?
Ferrari are already complaining about the Mclaren design.

So far it's my favorite looking car with the broken nose. The nose isnt that bad in that color or maybe I'm getting used to it.

I just prey that Red Bull did something similar to McLaren.

Not a big difference to last year's... Could be the livery but they so far have the best designed stepped-nose out of all the cars that have already been launched. While I'm not a fan of the livery, it gives something different on the track and on the grid. Maybe they could've made it look somewhat different from last year but I have no idea why they didn't...

Aesthetics aside, curious about the perfromance. I just really hope the car will be strong unlike last year which was very poor for them despite a strong start of the season.

I just pray that Red Bull did something similar to McLaren.

And let's pray it doesn't get banned as mentioned that someone has already been complaining about it...

Why it shouldn't be banned if it's considered illegal?

In other hand if that's legal expect ALL the other teams to change that zone pretty quickly.

Consideration is just a consideration. It is banned when it is confirmed to be against the regulations which I hope McLaren's design is a pass.

I don't think it's an easy task for all other teams to change their design because that involves a whole lot of work, like a full re-work to the front. McLaren even have to bring the front wheels a little further back to make the slope.

EDIT:

Why the hate on the livery? Its by far the best looking livery on the grid bar none.

I'm one of those that didn't hate the livery but Lotus could've done something different even if it's not by much.

Owkey, I just found these pictures.

The stepped doesn't look that bad at all really. The dark livery really helps in blurring the bumps a little.

I don't know if it's the paint or what, but this years car and last years cars are quite the same, the step down nose isn't too significant and it still reminds me of last years nose with just a slight step as said.

Beside the periscope exhaust there isn't much to write about, but I must ask it seems that in one of the pictures the front of the nose looks to have a vent in front of the step down. Anyone else see it?

I'm not a fan. It's just last year's car with a new nose, and last year's car was rubbish.

It may look so at first glance, but the colour of the car really makes it difficult to spot the new additions to the car, Lotus not really helping us out either by putting it indoors. It really is just a show car though, with many of the updates set to come in due time.

Another cigarette design?

They've been illegal for 6 years now.
But it's not a tobacco livery - John Player Special doesn't have a monopoly on black and gold, just as Phillip Morris/Malboro don't have a monopoly on red and white. The black and gold are treated as Lotus' "corporate colours", which is why they can use them.

True, but I think it clearly is a call back to the old JPS days.

Like someone else posted, I liked Renault's predominantly yellow scheme of 2009, with their Mild Seven blue/yellow being a personal favourite of mine. But they're a different team now, so it's whatever Lotus decide. Neither Toleman nor Benetton can change that!
