Suzuka 750pp Expert Online Free Run, Lotus Evora Hotlap Competition.

This contest is open to all, but please do come and have a race in the Lotus Evora Cup

Please post times in the following format:
x'xx.xxx | Tuner - Username

LEADERBOARD

2'04.389 | T&L - GTP_fairplay_plz

2'04.407 | T&L - GTI_Theewar

2'04.475 | DC - GTP_Bollocks

2'04.660 | DC - GTP_Stotty
2'04.805 | DC - GTP_hyperuk

2 wheels on (or vertically in line with) the track at all times
rumble/ripple strips are part of the track
no contact with walls or objects, visible or invisible
if you're not 100% sure that your lap is clean, then consider it dirty
no hybrids
no cheating of any kind
nothing that goes against the spirit of the rules
save your replay

We hope that you also post the tune(optional), but if it's your secret then keep it safe!

When a replay is needed?

Request can be made by a fellow member for a particular lap to be verified = [R]
You have 7 days time to submit your replay, starting from the date shown after the [R]
Use: *"Save The Best Lap Replay" / "Ghost Replay" -function:

shows that the replay has been posted and verified.

shows that the submitted lap turned out to be dirty or doubtful.

shows that the replay has not been provided in due time.

How to save & submit a replay:

Save your replay in the normal* way
Quit game
Insert a USB Storage Device
Using the XMB, select game, select Saved Data Ultity
Scroll down to your Replay
Press triangle & select copy
Select the destination for the copy of your replay (USB Storage device)
Copy it
ZIP the PS3 Folder
Post the zip file from your USB Storage Device to this thread

) but I don't understand this part:

Considering there's only one car, I'd say either all times are to be verified or, at least, the top ... (insert a number) ... times, isn't it?

Why are you creating a divide amongst ourselves?

You should open it to all GTP members. I have raced in the Evora, but not much as there has been the official GTP competition running for the past couple of weeks. I had dedicated all my time to that recently.

Well the thing is it's not too likely that someone who wasn't interested in the racing would be interested in the hotlapping. Also, I'm trying to encourage more GTPers to RACE in the event, not condone segregation. It's just an extra competition within the one we already started.

I've seen you enough times in the Evora race to accept a submission from you anyway mate, it doesn't have to be a case of "Race EVERY day against us or we won't take your time".

I hope I've managed to explain it in a clear way, sorry if I haven't

Seriously mate, no wonder you're Division 1 gold, excellent run.

@Vaxen...Hyperuk has a point, I know DK and RussRobit have picked up PAL copies to be able to race with us and in other region-locked events....but you know you might be right. Maybe if PAL users who aren't racing in the Evora Cup do the hotlap and are very competitive, it might convince them to come and try the race out.

I'm gonna keep an open mind on this and if enough NTSC users want to get involved, then I think sure, let's open it up. Exclusion isn't going to get us anywhere. You and Grim are right. I guess we just didn;t want one of you hotshoe NTSC users to waltz in and kick our asses then waltz off with the Hotlap crown

I'm going to wait for a bit more feedback and then go from there, is that fair guys?

Hi guys here's my view as I have been watching this discussion tonight, I don't drive any event online at the moment as most of my racing time that I do get is spent on a few hours of each Torc event per week .. also I'm not too interested in online racing until there is some kind of private rooms or invite only events where we can have the idiots completely out of the mix!

I do like hotlapping in free run though and would have probably had a few laps on this just for the fact that arcade racing is not as much pressure and I can just leisurely drive and restart when I feel like it without worrying about the other drivers

If you were to keep a restriction on this TT to the people who devote most of their race time to this event online! it would be like throwing the toys out of the pram directly at the people who don't have the time or even like racing this event in a 5 or 7 lap race 💡

No offence ... Just my 2 pence :sly:

Ron, I'm definitely coming round on this issue. I think it would be nice for the names that appear on the leaderboard to be people we find racing in the event ideally, and in all honesty Ron if you participate in the Evora Cup race we've got going in the format we are using you really are not going to come across that many idiots, just GTP members. I'm surprised you haven't decided to come and have a go to be honest, it's really come a long way. But going back to this thread, I really don't want to be excluding people such as yourself, Grim and Vaxen.

Cultlife Make sure you put a time up for me to add to the leaderboard! I already know I'm not going to beat Bollocks's time but it's the fun of taking part and friendly competition.....which leads me back to Ron and Vaxen's points :lol:

1st 10 laps and i am miles off the pace with a 2'08.432 I'm gonna go and fiddle with the settings and see if I can find anything that makes it a bit less slippy, my best lap felt pretty fast and smooth but obviously not fast enough

Nah, seriously the more I think about it the better I think it is to have you gusy involved. That way, if we do by some miracle get private rooms or there is another all-car International Suzuka event, we can all get involved with the Evora. Also I fully expect you to kick my backside in this contest!

Hahaha I had the same problem initially. Maybe you can use DC's tune as a baseline and develop from there? I found the heavily lowered ride height solved a lot of the twitchiness and the reduced steering angle killed a bit of turn-in oversteer. A lot of time, and I mean a LOT is to be found in the gearing alone.

My try:

Only thing I changed to the DC tune is steering angle to 30.
The drawback of setting it to 30 is that recovering from a crash takes a longer time
