I feel so sorry for Luca, he gets so much flak for so much bad luck. He is/was not a slow driver but sadly he will be famously considered the slowest ever. If only his Minardi hadn't failed so much and if only Ferrari hadn't picked Salo (though Salo deserved his time too).
He didn't compare too badly to his teammates during his Minardi and Scuderia Italia years, but people will never bother going looking at that. Combined with people being used to backmarkers being only a second or two off the leaders pace nowadays, he will never look good.

Farewell Badoer, you really should have driven some other categories over the years though.....

Luca Badoer, unsung hero of team Todt/Byrne/Brawn/Schumacher.

Tis a shame, he got the nickname of Look How Bad You Are when he deputised for Massa...

Maybe Fisichella in at Ferrari?

Well Fisichella is currently a test driver for Ferrari... Currently racing in ALMS.

I felt very sorry to Luca. He's a nice guy in the paddock... It's a shame that people always called him the slowest driver in F1, with the nickname ''Look How Bad You Are'' is just plain silly...

Farewell Luca Badoer.

Badoer is a legend.
So is the Loch Ness monster.

I agree it is a shame that his reputation was tarnished somewhat during his spell as stand-in for Felipe Massa... I guess you don't get to be a Ferrari test driver (let alone for so long) without being extremely talented.

Poor guy. He came in mid-season, with no testing whatsoever, in a dog of a car to drive. After being out of F1 racing action for 10 years. But 2 seconds slower than Kimi, and he's the butt of everyone's jokes.

Glad to read the opinions of people who understand the difficulties he faced...

It was a tough job and I genuinely felt sorry for the guy. He hung in for his opportunity, but when it eventually came, he was just too out of practice. It was a shame. Just like it is a shame that Fisi's good work in belgium wasn't enough for him to be considered for a (f1) race seat in 2010.

There's actually people who like fisichella? You probably don't follow the interviews he releases on the Italian news they fall under two categories:
"I crashed because the car has problems"
"I came last because the car has problems"

And HE HAD HIS CHANCES!! He was in renault when alonso won the title IIRC and what did he manage to do? Nothing.

[edit] He actually finished overall 5th and 4th in 2005 and 2006 respectively, but still...

Much more respect for Badoer and Trulli.

He might've moaned a lot, but let's not forget, he would have won that race if it wasn't for Kimi (IMO) cheating, using the runoff on the exit of la source. Add kers into the equation, plus a botched strategy by the (inexperienced frontrunners) force india team, and you had a hollow victory for Kimi. His last in f1, no way to end a career as promising as his IMO.

Getting first wouldn't have made his career any different.

Fisichella has had a fine career. Sure he was slower than Alonso at Renault, but come on, this is Alonso, arguably the fastest driver on the grid then and now, compared to Fisichella, who had been in F1 for about 10 years already.

Well, as a final footnote: Badoer had the longest tenure of any F1 driver with the same team, even longer than Schumacher's stay at the Scuderia (1996-2006).

Couldn't have Ferrari pushed the boat out a bit more, they only gave Badoer a Abarth 500 Tributo Ferrari. Couldn't they have even spared him a last of the line 430?

He also holds the record for most Grand Prix starts without ever scoring a single point...
